Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

I'm sceptical on that sequence of events.

Maybe he raised the idea of being traded with the club to see if they would be open to it to get some kind of certainty. Maybe he just wanted to keep all his options open and give the club as much notice as possible.

I say 'maybe' because I doubt that happened, but it could have.

But if he really wanted to leave last year, he would have been traded. Warner might not be across the trade market and how a deal could get done, but his management would have made it happen if that is what he wanted.
2025 does come after 2024

You could put the public displays at casinos and golf courses down to games players play to up their price. I don’t like it, I wouldn’t reward it, but I get it.

Liking opposition posts for other teams just seems completely unnecessary and antagonistic. I would love to know the backstory. Is Chad just a little dimwitted? Is he annoyed Swans blocked his media opportunities? Is he annoyed Cox will play him predominantly as a half forward?

Who really knows?

What I do know is that Chad has quickly become my least liked Swans player, and if he keeps this up he is going to have a rough ride this year with fans.

What about the players they don't seem to care

So if he plays to last years standard or even better they won't be happy

Who says they don’t care ? Errol , rowy, florent, Logan, Hayward etc reportedly all took less than what they could have gotten on the open market to keep the team togethe…only for Warner to leave to wa.

I’m sure they’re not happy about Chad essentially costing them money

All arrows are pointing to out Bedders.

Chad doing this public stuff is a pretty shit look.

As long as he plays well this season who cares. If he wishes to go home as long as he’s open to the players and fans that’s all we should expect. Personally rather him go than be miserable and half committed next year. There’s more important things than a footy team one is family

Liking posts about the West Coast is being up-front.

In a very unprofessional way.

People read way too much into social media. Least he’s not liking some weird thing. In likelihood will mean nothing

They did not especially Logan and Hayward

Chad is a 23 year old with a girlfriend. Not a middle-aged family man with kids and schooling commitments.

"Family is the most important thing" is, quite frankly, a cop-out (its the Archie Perkins excuse).

If WA clubs weren't throwing him buckets of money, he wouldn't be contemplating a move.

And "liking" posts in support of the West Coast is poor form. He gets paid a LOT of money to be more professional than that.

Long term girlfriend, key difference there (i.e it's not a one night fling or something), and whether you like it or not they are a couple, and we make compromises daily when in relationships. Does she wish to be in WA yes that is obvious. It is also obvious that Chad has compromised and wants to adhere to his current contract. It has very little to do with money, and all to do with family and family-life balance. It happens. Think about your life have you compromised in your relationship? I sure as anything have in mine.

Chad gets paid money to play footy, it makes ZERO difference if he likes a million things on Instagram or whatever social media service. All that does matter is each week he puts in and performs, that's all we should be caring about.

I am with you. The whole thing seems kind of juvenile.

He is a 23yo professional athlete who has landed in the absolute perfect situation and he is going to abandon that to go chase spoons with the Eagles because his girlfriend is giving him earache.

'Do the best for his family'. It's not like they would be living in Syria or committing their entire lives to Sydney. It's a few years.

It doesn't make any sense to me that he would leave unless the money is so dramatically different that you just can't say no.

Spot on

He also liked the Swans and Dockers posts.

That gives me a very small amount of hope that it's an elite troll job and he's stirring the pot before ultimately deciding to stay.

Yes, I will continue to huff copium until he's actually gone.
getting upset because Chad liked a post about another club feels very high school
