Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

And I'll repeat what I said previously (in early December 2024) when another posted made this same claim;

I'm still waiting for that 'semi-credible' report.

tombomb pretty much nailed it;

So Millky95 your semi-credible link?
It's not like there are any journalists with an in on the Swans heirarch to write a semi-credible report.
There aren't any AFL journalists in Sydney, it's not like Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth.

And if the story were true and Chad wanted out in 2024 you don't think the WA journos wouldn't have been all over it,due to leaks from Chad's management and the WA clubs?

There is no semi-credible report because it never happened.

And once again I ask on what is that 'presumption' based?

My guess is that Chad will leave at the end of 2025.
There is absolutely nothing to suggest he wanted out at the end of 2024 (other than some random WCE supporter posting something that popped into his head?).

Every time someone talks about a 2024 requested trade the story gains leverage.
Repeating some random self-serving post (from the WCE Board?) and giving it credence is frankly embarrassing, particulalry frm respectedposters suc as yourself and Millky95.

And just for clarification on another matter, no matter how many times the story is repeated, including by Donald Trump,no Haitian immigrants were not eating domestic pets in Springfield Ohio.

We currently live in a World where misinformation is rampant, please don't add to it,even in this overall trivial matter.
I say presume because unless Chad walked into Horse’s office and asked for a trade, his management would have been dealing with Harley and Cameron as every manager would be as standard practice.

I have absolutely no idea if said conversation happened.

I assume in his mind he was a good chance of leaving but he hadn't requested a trade. Met with WCE, they made him an offer he couldn't refuse and he's accepted in principle. Purchases a property in WA and swans are now stuck dealing without a strong bargaining chip.

WC seem like fair traders. So well probably still get a decent return for him, but not an exceptional return. You take it and move on. Look to land a big fish at the end of the year.

The reality is we are going to be a much better team in 2026 and 2027 with Warner in it.

And we did finish on top of the ladder last year and we did make the Grand Final. If we aren't in the hunt for a flag, I don't know what the other 16 teams are doing?!

If Warner walks as a free agent in 2 years time, you match the deal and force a trade.

Maybe you don't get as good of a deal as you would at the end of this year, but I don't see any evidence that West Coast are going to jump up the ladder in the next few seasons. They are still completely reliant on McGovern and Yeo, who will be gone in the next couple of seasons. They will have good picks to offer, even in a Tasmania draft.
I think what you’re saying is reasonable but it’s all predicated on the assumption we get an additional year from him.
At this stage if he leaves after current contract is up (and we don’t win the granny) the decision not to trade him amounts to incompetence and lack of vision.

I think we are talking about two different things. It wasn't predicated on any assumption.

The discussion was would you re-sign Warner for 2 years to take him to free agency or only agree to a longer deal. I would do two years if that was the only deal he would agree to, for the reasons I mentioned.

I agree that if Warner had asked to be traded or raised the possibility of being traded last year, we should have got it over and done with while we had some leverage in the deal.

It's on the club now if he doesn't extend and we end up getting ripped off again on a trade.

My gut feel projection.

Warner knows Sydney is contending. He wants to be a part of that.
Warner's wife, like all wives, want to be around the nest they grew up in, except the ones that don't.

That is all very understandable. I see all sides.

I reckon Warner wants to ride the Sydney wave while he can tube ride, do plenty of cutbacks and feel good about himself. What I really mean not talking metaphorically is he wants to do the best he can to win a premiership or two for Sydney.
He would be stupid to move to WA when Sydney is primed for premierships.
His wife knows this. He knows this. The Swans know this. Clowns on here are clueless.

He will sign for 2 and make a decision after that.
He is not dumb as some on here.

I tend to agree that he will sign for 2 years, no inside knowledge just a gut feel,

however calling people dumb & clowns because they have an opinion is pathetic along with the 😍 response, surely everyone is allowed an opinion and we can either agree / disagree or just scroll on,

Given WC hypothetically offer him $1.5 million a year, how much does he leave on the table to stay?

And how do we pay for it?

I can express my opinion like everyone else.
I let this thread ride for countless pages.
Lots of rubbish, innuendo, name calling, assertions and assumptions. I let the clowns post their uninformed stuff.
I can reply to any post just like you as long as I do not cross the line.
You don't like posting here. then go do some knitting.

There are plenty of clowns on here including me.

What is a man that has big feet and smiles a lot. A clown.

If you can't handle the truth, don't post here.

Until it happens I don't like getting caught up in what ifs. There are a million what ifs.

Just enjoy him playing this year and resigning.

Everything else is just noise.

Sooooo you're saying $1 million then.
Lock it in. Rusty said he's leaving $500k on the table. It's on the record now. :p

s galore but you can GIF

What large fish is coming ? People keep dangling this carrot. We havnt signed anyone since buddy , unless they are salary dumps or unwanted by their clubs.

The reality is the market we are in, is not conjusive to signing superstar players.
There's this guy that plays for Adelaide that'd be pretty good in red and white I reckon. We should throw money at him.

HES ALREADY PUT CONTRACT TALKS ON HOLD

HE MET WITH FREO AT CROWN

MET WITH WCE AT JOONDALUP GOLF COURSE

BOUGHT A 3 MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE IN PERTH

HE AINT COMING BACK NEXT YEAR
It's funny because if you join all those dots together it's actually a picture of WA.

Someone needs to be poking holes in his durex so the kid is born here and mum gets into a local mothers group.
New LT contract then assured.
