if you are going to play him in the Vfl he is worth accordingly!! cant have it both ways.

Yeah nah, it doesn't work like that. It's all about supply and demand.

He is a #1 ruckman at 12 other AFL teams (yours included).

It is only by the fact that the team he plays for has a quality ruckman who stepped up in his absence to resign H to playing VFL.

he is worth a pick in the mid 20's at the moment we don't have that but we are trying to upgrade our pick 36. there are a few trades in motion. it may happen it may not. north must realize that pick 15 is out, so if we can't upgrade our 2nd pick he stays...
nothing ventured nothing gained.

I agree, if the Cats can upgrade to a pick in the mid 20's by doing some other trading then the deal will get done. When you consider Wellingham went for pick 17 then consider the Hamish deal a bargain if it goes through.

How are Geelong being grubby??
By floating your 3rd Rounder. He would be your number #1 ruckman, just because he isn't ours doesn't mean he is devalued. I agree first Rounder is overs, but a 3rd Rounder and your offcasts like Gillies is just plain insulting really.

Would it be beyond the realms of possibility to expect a decent player in return? That is what you're getting.

Such as?
The only decent player we hve that may not be required is Mitch Brown.
Our playing list is lacking in the 22-26 year old players that might fill your need, the younger ones are our future..

Your football department total lack of activity during this trade period might be a clue!
if there are ,will be good for you as you might be able to snag a decent 2nd rounder for him.

Our football department doesn't discuss trade week.

Really, your football department with be on AFL trade talk on Tuesday doing just that!!!
To explain to North supporters just what /whats not happening!!

Maybe to clear up some of the absolute bullshit that has been sprouted?

Invisible posting I'm guessing? Stick your finger in your ears Daz. :thumbsu:

Just imagine a North board where every discussion didn't turn into 'sack the coach', 'we need mature bodies' or just general abuse of peoples valid opinions. Putting him on ignore doesn't achieve anything because he dominates every discussion anyway.

I would go after someone like Hickey, even if Hamish stays. History suggests ruckman tend to play their best footy after they are 25 at least. So we can definitely afford to have a Hickey sit on the list for another year or 2 developing if need be. Could be a good option with stuff all ruck talent coming through the junior leagues this year from all reports...

Hickey would be a good get.

Remember him taking down contested marks for fun against Collingwood.

All that will be said is "we have had discussions with a few clubs and will continue to do so, we're hopeful of getting several things done etc"

Nothing of substance, can almost guarantee no player names will be mentioned by the club. Stop being a tw*t.

Balme has been doing that for 2 weeks, and yet we have caddy and several pending trades.
Tuesday is all about appeasing the big footy rabble!

If we are looking to replace Hamish for cap salary space right now and only for that reason, it is only because we are after a big fish this year.

Everyone we need to be contracted is and with H out of contract next year, his current price is irrelevant.

We won't settle for a dirty pick and if we do, then get ready for a big name.

You do realise he was playing for North Ballarat with plenty of our own players aligned to the Roosters, our coaching staff knew him quite well, and we didn't try and recruit him?

I'm pretty sure you did try to recruit him but as a rookie rather than on the senior list. The only reason he came to Geelong was because we offered him a spot on the senior list so it was financially worth it. When he came to Geelong there were articles saying he had previously been offered rookie spots at a number of clubs but had turned them down.

Doesn't look like we are going after any free agents this year so what does McIntosh's contract have to do with anything? After 2013 he is uncontracted, so it will free up the space if we want to land someone next year anyway.

I don't think salary cap relief is a player here at all.

It's quite simple McIntosh wants to be number #1 banana and can do that at Geelong because your rucks are average. Geelong know this and thats why they have been trying to lure him. At the moment they are just being grubby and trying to get him for bargain basement. It's actually a pretty shit act to try and lure a CONTRACTED player and get him to want to move to your club and then only trade if you can get him on the cheap. If they had no intention of paying a fair price they should have never started the process

If you don't have McIntosh on the list next year you could easily renegotiate other contracts to front load them. You free up ~500k by getting rid him, then renegotiate other contracts to front load them in to next year thus freeing up ~500k over 2014-15.

Of course we're trying to get him cheap. We're not going to offer higher than what you guys would accept. It's not because of Geelong that he's considering leaving. If he'd been happy at North he would've told us to piss off. We have every intention of paying an amount that we're willing to offer. If that gets him, great. If North don't think it's enough then we move on to another player. I don't see how that's grubby. It's just doing what's in the best interest of Geelong which is the job of the people doing the negotiations.
