Only the club knows that. Could be a little, could be alot. Any expense is an expense if you dont get anything in return.

That is complete rubbish. When someone gets injured they go see a specialist in their field, they operate and manage the injury and they tell our medical staff what he can and can't do and when.

He got a bone spur, which is just a small piece of bone that has come off, it would have been a consequence of the operation, these things happen, especially for complex and serious injuries. It was removed to reduce the amount of soreness he experienced after training and playing.

Last year he had to have followup operations to clean up his buggered ankle, that was done by his specialist, not by the club.

He had hamstring problems this year, from running with a bit of a limp after all his operations and the pain he still had after his ankle surgeries.

That has NOTHING to do with us.

What a cop out. His rehab is managed by the club, it is the clubs decision to send him to a specialist and the clubs management post surgery. Its a combination of both club and specialist, you cant say they played no part - im not here to defend him, its just the facts of how its transpired.

Geelong sacked their fitness staff 3 years ago -look how good they are now. People at the club are responsible to a certain degree - thats why they are paid the big bucks.

Jesse hasn't been totally happy with the medical treatment he has received. That's understandable from the point that he would be a hugely frustrated kid. We're not the only ones frustrated that we can't get this great talent on the park. Jesse wanted to test the waters and see what other clubs thought regarding his condition and prospects. I would say from the lack of activity, that the other clubs aren't keen on a guy with a degenerative ankle condition. North needs to get him the best possible rehab and treatment, and get him playing some footy so he doesn't completely break down confidence wise.
Good luck to Jesse and the club as EVERYONE wants to see him play out a full career.

I think that part of the major issue that people have with trading him is for a very long time Jesse has represented the hope.

We would have been top 4 in 08 but Jesse was injured.

This year may have been different if Jesse had been fit.

2010 looks great if we can have Jesse and Tarrant fit.

Its that we have seen how devastaing he can be and now there are a lot that are feeling that the hope they had in Jesse has potentially been misplaced.

If any of this is true and he goes I hope he gets himself to a place where he can enjoy his footy & get back to his best.

I think that the reality is Jesse while he represents hope he represents risk, if we keep him and say have to give him 2 years to do that and in those 2 years he only plays another 4 games I would suggest everyone on here would mark it down as nearly as monumental as Hay, If he gets right and has played in say 15 games in 2010 and the 25 in 2011 (we finish 2nd and take the flag) then it was a miracle we were able to hold on to him.

I think that's a fair assessment, but I would just prefer the club hold on to him for one more contract. If we've given Tarrant two years, then surely we can extend Smith the same courtesy.

Smith has been undergoing ankle surgery ever since he suffered the injury, multiple operations every year and he had yet another operation on his ankle recently to remove a bone spur. His ankle has NEVER been right since he broke it, how is this a fault of the club medical staff?

Jesse has been limping and hobbling since it happened. If, and that is a big IF, they can get his ankle right then and ONLY then does it comes down to his management. Anything that is related with the management of his ankle injury would be done in conjunction with his specialist's advice and recommendation. We have no specialists on staff, no club does. They rely on the specialists for this advice, it is not just on the operating but on the post-op treatment, rehab and management.

There is NOTHING our conditioning staff can do for someone with a ****ed ankle. NOTHING. All you can do is give it time to heal, have him do the rehab. We have had excellent results with getting people back from ACL and other serious injuries that are often career threatening.

If our staff were incompetent then you would see a lot of failure associated with injury management. That just isn't the case.

I couldn' care less if he plays on or not if he leaves the club.

Potential trade with Geelong reportedly close to off after the Geelong Doctor's assessment of JWS' medical came back described as 'akin to accidentally walking in on a snuff film'. (My thource's words, not mine, but I like it)

Geelong may still take him, but they'd be taking a larger leap of faith than they wanted.

Pick 28 that they just got for Mumford might do it, perhaps in return for a later pick as well.
