Hasnt been the same since his knee injury in 09.
Was killing it before that.
Then at the start if 2010 was looking ripped lean and solid and had an okay start to the year. Poor throughout and okay finish.
Azza and Harper and Patch have made it real hard though for him to get a game.
Maybe GWS might look at him.

Are you in love with Aaron TOD?

Do you want me to get his # for you?

Mature contribution.

Kudos.

He is the slowest small forward in the comp. Or he is the shortest tall forward in the comp... either way his output is mid range.

Black, Tarrant, Wright, Harper not getting games ahead of him means our window is getting further away by the day.

Yes, I know you disagree. But just perhaps you are so in love with Aaron that you don't see his shortcomings, especially in games that count.

I'm quite aware of Edwards' shortcomings as a footballer and have discussed them on this very site. Never claimed he was a world-beater. What he is though, is considerably better than the crap you're dishing his way on this forum.

And to prove my point... here is the season highlights for the great man.

Season Highlights
17 disps (12 kicks 5 hballs), 11 marks and 2 goals in Rd 24 13-pt win over Richmond at Etihad Stadium (4 Sep 2011)
17 disps (13 kicks 4 hballs), 10 marks and 3 goals in Rd 22 98-pt win over Fremantle at Etihad Stadium (20 Aug 2011)
19 disps (14 kicks 5 hballs), 11 marks and 5 goals in Rd 12 59-pt win over Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium (11 Jun 2011)
16 disps (12 kicks 4 hballs), 10 marks, 5 tackles and 6 goals in Rd 8 41-pt win over Melbourne at Etihad Stadium (14 May 2011)

Big game player is Aaron. When we get smashed by good teams he turns in to a nowhere coward.

"A nowhere coward".

Wow. You really showed him, courageous internet warrior.

As has been explained ad infinitum, the midfield getting pantsed by top sides has a direct effect on a player like Edwards' numbers against those teams. Pretty simple concept to grasp. The fact that you continue to ignore this basic notion leads me to assume that axe-grinding rather than fair-minded discussion is your objective.

Anyways, you can rationalise it (and that's being kind) all you like, but the basic thrust of your plan here is to turf our most effective (in terms of opportunities converted) Forward for the 2011 season, when he's currently in the best form of his career.

Quality plan.:thumbsu: You should totally email Bon with that.

He is going the biff often these days. It may be cos the opp is giving him so much shit, or he may be frustrated at himself. He wrestled a few times at various stages. He's becoming talking point out there. Kicked 2 good goals on the run.

Was very handy at times, teamed up with wells on more than one occasion to end up in a goal. Got beat on the lead once or twice too many times.

I sit, and wait, with very baited breath, for a solid performance when it really matters.

KT I doubt LT will keep either LA or JMaC out of the side. We've six fwds every week and am looking fwd to the day LT isn't good enough to be one of them.

The day is here my friend. Edwards, Drew, Harps, Boomer, Taz, Wright. Plus Adams and LA running through there.

He's not in our best 6 forwards as none of these guys should be out of the side. Good times ahead!

Maybe we could re-draft Sansbury Mav? A judge of talent you are not. ;)

never watched Centrals play Fles?

But go ahead a show me a team that includes the 8 players I mentioned plus LT. Unless of course you dont rate any of those players... with you immense talent spotting skills and all!

eddie plays for only the 2nd best SANFL team Mav. ;)

Not sure of the point or are you still getting hot and heavy over his 26 goal effort playing on Cooney?

Half your posts are on LT hate, one senses an unhealthy obsession.

Slight problem with your roll out of so called superior forwards. Apart from Boomer who cannot be everywhere at once, where are your real small forwards? LT has plenty of work to do on his game, but few are better at getting the pill and providing defensive pressure in the league. LT must clean up the kicking, you will get no argument from me.

Sadly the majority see his value including most importantly the people that Coach and select the side.

Time to drop the man crush on Eddie Mav. :D

SANFL? lulz.

You must have have missed his squibbing and front running when he was in the AFL.

Wright is playing back and LA is playing midfield. All of those players played today and there was still a spot for Lindsay. He stays.

funny how you dont bring up LT's squibs? he is the worst in our team atm. Did you not see his pathetic attempt at a mark a couple of weeks ok? No one with 20 meters yet he still heard foot steps and pulled out of the mark. Not to mention THE worst squib for 15 years in a north melbourne jumper last year.

Wright is playing back and LA is playing midfield. All of those players played today and there was still a spot for Lindsay. He stays.
Wright is a forward and should play there. If you knew anything you would know that LA has been spending plenty of time playing forward both last year and this preseason. But I know you know nothing.

I'm not a Centrals fan but cant argue with how good hey are. Eddies 26 goals were better far better than LT 77 against Carlton!

nope, I dont hate any North player, not like the way others hated Eddie!! But I do pity DR.

Slight problem, LT doesn't play as a small forward. even supporters of LT say his best Talent is delivering the ball into the F50

yep and they dropped him last year cause he wasnt good enough. And if he keeps playing one good game in 15 he wont last.

Time to drop the man crush on Eddie Mav. :D
you keep bringing up Eddie, I think you're the one that needs to drop it!

LT played well today. Well in the best 22, as a small forward.

Edwards also good. Elite marking skills. I can only assume anyone denying this hasn't been watching. For 3 or 4 years (or whatever the quote was).

JMac will be a player. Basti was brilliant - he's a gun. Patch is not quick but knows where to run, rarely gets beaten one on one, and certainly knows how to use the football. Swallow was better than people credited him in the other thread - in and under every pack. Boomer still awesome, and Wellsy still sublime.

Tarrant needs some mongrel in him to cut it at this level. Doesn't hit the contest hard enough. Flash was better today but needs to get more involved.

Some really good signs today, especially hanging in there in the first half when Carlton were "on". Great ball movement from the back half was a feature.

If LT plays like he did yesterday then he definitely has a spot in the team, the guy has X factor and his two goals in the run were high quality. Just don't give him a set shot and he will be fine.

Yeah basically... (everyone will see it differently and I absolutely respect that) I would have thought that every year you can't win the flag is a development year in some form. Sure we have done the hard yards and are on an upswing, but our young players have taken longer to develop than young players at other clubs for whatever reason and with that firmly in mind, the only way to fast track this development is to throw them in the deep end and watch them swim. or Sink.

I honestly think (and maybe I'm deluded but then again maybe i'm not) that our kids are bloody good. Like potential world beaters. And if given the same opportunity as some of the players I have mentioned i believe they will prosper and we would improve as a team. Our profile as a club would improve and the future would look brighter.

I know it's only Dermie's opinion but he tipped us to finish 12th this year.... 12th.... Why would he do that if he thought we were any good?

I would pick my 22 with upside and future development in mind. Making the 8 and geting smashed would do nothing for our development. When we get there we need to be ready to explode.

The likes of McMillan, Wright, Atley, Black, Tarrant, Daw, Harper, Cunnington, Speight and C.Delaney are the ones who need game time. These blokes going from C/D graders through to B and potential A graders is what will make us a strong team moving forward.

Games need to be earned - not given away based on "potential." Playing for NM is an honour and nobody should be given a easy ride to a royal blue and white jumper.
Dermie picked us to finish 12th because he's a tool. We may well miss the finals because this is the most competative AFL season in history (Brad Scott's words) but we'll have 4 wins against GWS/GC which should mean we'll get at least 10-11 wins as a minimum. I think we're more likely to get 12-14 wins and make the 8. However we all should keep in mind that this could be because of a soft draw and might not indicate that we've "arrived."

Lindsay played well today. Stats don't always tell the story, he is an incredibly smart instinctive player at times. Some of the handballs people mentioned were mad and some of his linking up work was exceptional.

Brad obviously knows he won't get a 4 quarter blue collar contributor when he plays LT. But he will get a guy that can read the play and create options that few others would.

That’s the thing with LT. IMO his best is as good as any player in the league. Yes, there are times where he’s not so reliable, but there is way too much ability there for us to just cut our losses. At the moment there is nobody else in his position that is close to being as dangerous as often. He gets the ball a lot, he gets into dangerous positions and he hurts the opposition often physically as well as the scoreboard. The set shots are a worry and there is a line there that Lindsay needs to try and stay over but if he plays like yesterday more often than not then he is in our best 22 players.

If his consistency is a big problem as the team improves as a whole then things might change, but at the moment he’s well and truly earning his keep – and in the end that is apparently what we’re all about this year, playing people on form not potential. On form he is in the team.
