As I was walking back to the car tonight, I was staggered at the number of comments I heard directed at this bloke in a negative sense. Some were blaming him for the loss, others were just criticising his ability.

I was shocked, as I thought he played quite well.

In the car (brother was driving) I started to read Big Footy and even more negative feedback was being directed at the bloke.

Now that I'm home, I thought I'd check the stats to see if maybe I was being too easy on him. But no, apparently he did ok:

17 kicks, 1 handball, 7 marks (2nd best Roo), 6 tackles (equal best Roo), 1 free for, 1 free against and 2 goals 2 behinds. Dream Team points were 110, which was the highest for us and third highest for the game.

This bloke puts in every week and, while he has his flaws (goal kicking and going to ground too easily come to mind), he is a vital part of our lineup.

He also bleeds blue and white. When he kicked his first tonight, he ran past the members, stared into the crowd and kissed the logo on his jumper. It was as if he was saying, "I love this club, don't give up on me yet".

I was very close to putting him in my votes tonight and may have been swayed by the seed of doubt planted by others, but I'm glad I have seen the numbers to prove myself right.

Give the guy a break. We need him in our side and he needs us to stick by him.

Definately agree, was by far not our worst player. Also vvery pissed with people going off on Anthony even though his disposal was a lot better than normal tonight. 70% of 23 possesions isnt too bad considering some of the other shit we were put through.

I thought he played a pretty good game too.
The problem is early on he was playing in our forward line and the bloke is the worst set shot kick at goal i have ever seen. So even if he is 30 meters out you still think he will kick a point and in effect cause a turnover.

IMO this is the coaches fault and not his. If a player has no idea how to kick a goal why on earth would you play him forward? Just makes no sense.

So in the 2nd half he played more up the ground on the wing and actually looked pretty good and passed it in a few times.
He was one of our better players but it's those woeful shots at goal early on that you just know he will not get that has everyone pleading for Brad to just move him away form the goals.

Enough is obviously enough in this case. I would find it hard to believe that Brad will still persevere with him as a deep forward after tonight. Play him on a wing no problem.

Was awesome tonight. No doubt

The only question is (and its the only question I remember reading re: him tonight) his set shot routine, which IMO isnt a bad thing to question, as its terrible.

Its not something that we can shy away from, it IS a problem. And it all comes down to that ball drop, drops it at chest height and it rotates which means he invariably shanks it.

His other areas though he has been brilliant in, pressure, second efforts, marking etc etc.

He was ok. Snuffed a few kicks inside 50 when there were some open players spaced out.

I like him around the wing where he has to force his way into the game. Rest him in the pocket perhaps, but play him on the wing IMO.

You get what you get with Lindsay, yes he shanks a lot of shots at goal, but he is one of the few blokes on our side actually capable of winning us a game.

His bad kicking has given me an opportunity to give him a new nickname...... Lamb Shanks or Lamb for short.

Yep played well, if he sort those set shots out he'd be a super star. Works hard and wins more than his fair share of 50/50 contests. Problem is im not sure he ever will figure it out. Is it the coaching staff, does he not listen or learn? Who knows, but it isnt the run up, its waving that pill all over the place. He's almost a mini Buddy, prefers to kick around the corner than set shots.

Can't disagree with the OP, although I wouldn't be using DT points as a guide. SC or Champion Data stats are more accurate, where he didn't fare as well.

But yeah, if it's a question of asset or liability, I reckon he's worth persisting with as he does add value to the cause, despite his weaknesses.
