Currently rated the worst kick in the AFL. But so was Clayton Oliver a couple years ago. It'll get better as he settles in, probably leading our bnf, been great.

I would say that’s down to him just throwing it on the boot from stoppages

Taranto not being able to kick isn't any new revelation. We knew this before we traded for him, we got him because of his ability to win the ball and get the ball going forward where we have the likes of Martin and Bolton playing one kick ahead of the stoppages and are two of the best players in the league at winning ground balls.

does this 55% DE become a concerning conundrum the further we go tho? think about it.
yes i agree hes fantastic at driving in and gaining fwd metres no doubt about it,but continuous messy delivery into the fwd 50 gives the oppos backline
time to reset and also a break even chance at regaining the pill because hes not hitting targets,
also has TT arrival had an effect on Prestias' game ?

by the looks of it so far i think we'll have games where the midfield is gonna look like the best thing since sliced bread @ times and at other times
like friday, made to look a metre off the pace once the ball is out in open space,it'll come to down to the oppos coach ability to expose our weakness.

So we've addressed the clearance problem now,but works required with the current DE issue and the lack of pace both inside, with hands, & outside in open space, both as clear as the nose on ones face ,we've time,Cumberlands inclusion in the FWD 50 will give that area a much needed injection with his pace
an hopefully Dimmer realises Bolton with his pace and execution could be an asset in the midfield if used there more

Our talls are getting slaughtered around the ground in marking contests . If they halve marking contests our running game/ wave comes into play and rushed kicks from stoppages from players like Taranto start to become more effective .

This is it in a nutshell. for a kick to be effective if it goes over 35m and isn't an uncontested mark to the oppo it is effective.

The big question here is why more than half of his kicks out of stoppage are resulting in uncontested marks. Is our structure ahead of the ball poor, or are our players ahead of the ball on their heels and being reactive?

I would say it a bit of both and probably the result of our forward players being coached to worry about defensive setup first than than just trying to win the footy.

running game waves ? it aint 2107 -2019,we havent run in waves for years,we're as slow as treacle,Collingwood s**t the bed
on friday night,a good side like Melbourne woulda been 6 up @ qtr time game over with all those opportunities handed to em
Collingwood arent that good n we're worse atm
Melbourne will bath us if we dish that up ,& the Suns game will be no gimme either,on the positive side theres time to inject pace an guys that can kick

I don't think his kicking is even that bad. The statstics say it's not great, but I feel like the majority of that is based on the way he plays.

Nank is pretty much rucking solo and looks cooked/ banged up 3 games in and has never been athletic. Lynch seems to be proffered close to goal , Jack doesn’t launch at the footy anymore he is getting marks through footy smarts and body and the remainder of our forwards have no presence in the air . We are easy to play against when going forward atm , block Lynch’s run at the footy and put pressure on the ball carrier .

We haven't had a dominant clearance team in forever. I think our forwards are still adjusting to this hence the constant entries inside 50 being cut off from a quick clearance.

Can’t remember who mentioned this but I read it on here yesterday (take credit if it was you and you are reading this)

But think our Mids are also still adjusting to having him into the side Cotch and Prestia got sucked into the contest a lot when Taranto won the ball but that left no one on the outside to pass it to forcing Taranto to just throw it on the boot

Still just some adjustments needed

Taranto has been our best player, this slight on his kicking is just haters wanting this trade to end up pear shaped so they can say we are falling like Hawthorn did when they got Mitchell & O'Meara.
He is an inside mid, most of his kicks will be shit. You only have to look at Patrick Cripps & Oliver for comparisons. It's quite funny when Melbourne lose all you hear is how Oliver butches the ball, when they win he is a clearance beast, one of the best players in the comp.

Yep, Sure his kicking could improve but he is definitely not a problem with our side atm. Wait till he starts hitting the scoreboard

he's also very good in heavy traffic. still finding his feet with us as you'd expect.

Fairly tough call following a game in pissing rain where we def adopted a classic wet weather territory game that would have stood up against most sides other than premiership favs that were remarkably clean with the pill
I recall pres being a bit similar early on , a better balance with handball and composure will improve those stats

Me. Thankyou.

In Brian Taylor's voice clears throat "One minute left and its Collingwood by a point in the 2023 Grand Final after a four goal to one term from the Tigers. Umpire comes in for the bounce and its perfect! Darcy Cameron wins the tap, sharked by Taranto ahead of De Goey, feeds a handball out to Sonsie who breaks away from the middle, (in the background you hear Richo mutter the word "Lynch"), Sonsie sends the ball inside 50 and hits Lynch lace out on the lead! (Indiscriminate screaming can be heard in the background) Oh boy, oh boy wowee what a clearance from Taranto and elite delivery from Tyler Sonsie who is only in his second year if you dont mind! Lynch takes the full allotment of time and lines up from 35 metres out, on a slight 45 degree angle... begins his approach... it looks good off the boot... it's home!!! (More Indiscriminate screaming in the background) Tigers by 5 points!!! 10 seconds left in the final quarter, I think they're home Richo."

This is how I envisage the end of this year's Grand Final.
Taranto Norm Smith.

**** the haters.

Although I agree Tarantos disposal has been shocking, for Cornes to call him the worst kick in the AFL based on a game played in wet conditions just shows the lack of common sense used by the media.

Prestias kicking was awful when he started with us as well, but he cleaned that up quick

havent watched the replay, but if true this would explain quite a few things

Getting to know what your team mastes are like takes awhile.First 2 games notice how many times he & Hopper found each other.Once things calms down his disposal should improve.

Getting to where the pill is and extracting it is the first challenge ✔️ we can work on the rest ,,,no problem

Even more reason for Bolton to play midfield
Would be the ideal guy to receive tarantos handballs
