What I would like to see both Hopper and Taranto so more after winning the inside ball, is handball it out to our outside users. Its what we did in the past and begun most of our running chains that led to scoring. Edwards was the master of it, Prestia is good too. Unfortunately, both Hopper and Taranto have learned to win the ball and just hammer it forward - Tucky-style. As positive as bringing in the two new midfielders are, there is still a lot of shuffling, education and restructuring left for them, the midfield team and the side as a whole, still left to do. I just hope we can pull it together quickly.

Hardwick wants them getting it forward at any cost. He said it himself.
Definitely not tim and hoppers fault

Obviously in a perfect world would be great if Taranto's possessions were a bit more polished. At the end of the day he's a proven matchwinner who can find the pill and works hard defensively. When was last time we got near the Blues in clearances, let alone beat them. We've played 2 quality teams and an improving team and have had the 2nd lowest points scored against. Last year teams destroying us in clearances would've allowed their KPF's to dine out had we had no Tarrant. In a month all of Tarrant, Broad and hopefully Gibcus will be back so backline can only improve. With Dusty and Cumberland in forward line Lynch's match fitness lifting and non performers replaced with kids playing well our forward line will only get stronger too. Soon we'll be playing some spud teams and Taranto will get to find his mojo and by the bye will be more settled and used to our play. Some of his disposals have been ordinary but he doesn't drop his bundle he cracks in harder. By the midpoint of his contract $700k will be an absolute pittance compared to the EBA. A bit of continuity, Hopper, Short and Sonsie up and about watch the cream rise to the top. A bit of patience and people will soon realise we pulled off the greatest steal since the Jeff Hogg trade/ Ottens for Chris Bond. Besides disposal efficiency is misleading watch blokes like Neale, Parish and Merret, etc. pad their stats with 10 efficient handballs that were completely unnecessary every game.

I think us winning the ball in the first place and getting it forward is a much better scenario than not getting it at all, our forwards need to get in front and be ready. We can’t be playing behind the defender.
secondly l do believe Taranto and hopper need more time to settle in and start using the ball better than they have been, l thought hopper was dreadful in his first game and much better in the second, so hopefully he can continue to improve.

From experience of having played full forward to some terrible kicks, there is no correct position to a really bad kicker. You start behind they kick it to the front. You start in front they kick it behind. You start in front and they try to kick it to the front it gets intercepted half way. You go left they go right, you go right they go left. You stand still they kick it miles away from you. You lead, they hesitate. You don't lead, they kick it as if you have led. When someone is kicking as bad as Taranto has been, your best bet is probably to instruct them to try to kick it to the full back's advantage.

About 1/3 of the way in. "Just hack it forward".

looks like Tim is following instructions to the letter :$

No point watching what Jack says we can all see our gameplan. The number of times I see one of our players surrounded by 3 or 4 opponents and ball heads that way I just close my eyes and say WTF?

It was Kane, his metric for assigning the worst kick in the afl was most ineffective kicks. Not kicking efficiency, or turnovers. The guy is a master troll.

Trolling out one side of his mouth while pretending Poort aren't imploding out of the other side.

Next he'll be pretending none of us remember that the primary reason Chocco was forced to turn him into a filthy tagger was because he was one of the worst kicks of the modern era.

Clunky forward line being too tall doesn’t suit dirty ball into f50 , remember 2017 we had a mosquito fleet and were famed for getting it in any which way , talls won’t like it like that , no surprise when we went smaller with cumbo and Clarke we looked dangerous ,,,I’m sure our chiefs are t stupid and will work it out

Wines has been poor since winning his Brownlow to be honest. He wouldn't even be considered in the top 20-30 mids in the comp.
I wouldnt take any notice of brownlows these days. dogshite medal

another sen campaigner

Working in sports media must be the easiest job in the world

During the pre season all you do is hype every campaigner up to stupid levels and once the season starts just start saying they are overrated when it was the media that hyped them up in the first place

It's important to make lists of the 'top 5 midfielders', 'top 10 most overrated players', 'whos unlucky not to be getting a game at your club', etc.

Base all the information on the last weekend's results, too.

It's basically what we do but they get paid.
