It's just downright confusing to me that people who watched Meatball and Cotch - undeniable legends - shank, wobble and catastrophic clanger their way through so many games are all up in arms about the kicking skills of Taranto.

He certainly kicks the ball no worse for accuracy and crucially, he kicks it further over the zone and gets penetrating kicks away when others can't and don't.

Tim 'Territory' Taranto - it really is a simple concept to wrap your head around and embrace.

The only part I'm still puzzled about is what to call his swelling fan club - Tarantismists?

It shows some of our supporters are unfortunately just AFL media sheep.

BAAAA BAAA

No wonder Kane Cornes gets so much air time.

Best on once again.
Carrying this rabble of a team.
Gets better with every game.

If it was up to me, he would be our next captain. Either him or Baker.
Watching Taranto speak after the game, he just knows how to handle the media and even though he has been under the pump from certain sections of the media, he continues to press on and perform well.

He kicked a ripping goal yesterday when we needed someone to stand up. People need to look past the noise surrounding his disposal efficiency and what we gave up for him and focus on how much he is dominating.

Lets just think about this for a minute
  • Taranto is averaging over 30 touches a game with 4 more than his 2019 B & F year at the giants
  • Taranto is averaging 8 tackles 1.5 more than his B & F year
*Taranto's DE is 61.3% this year and in his B & F year was 59.3%

If Taranto averaged 6% -7% better DE and kicked just 1 goal a game
We certainly would not be paying him $700k a year it would be more like $1 mil plus

Taranto is 100% leading our B & F

What more do people expect the man is a gun player
He’ll be shitting in our B and F

Using the Mr Magic theory of trading players back in when the club re-enters the premiership window, can we trade Tim back and get our first round pick back

Why? Our 1st round draft pick history is horrendous. Rance, Cotchin, Martin & Riewoldt in almost 25 years LOL
Given it's been so long since we nailed one, Daniel arguably the last one we got right, we're probably about due to nail one now.

78% disposal efficiency and barely put a foot wrong with his kicking, none of them could possibly knock that effort. Dry ground and dry boots make a difference, especially when half your kicks are off a step or less.

Beast of a game yesterday and looking like he's one of our few players who handle Marvel as well as the G, he was just running opponents into the ground...often had time to check his phone before he linked up yet again. ;)

On his number so far this year he has been a bargain get for the club

#14 + CCj (who we would have been paying $400k+ had he decided to stay)

Compared to a kid that will take 3 years to become a good player (if he is not the next Dow , Cellis , Lennon , RCD)
We will get 8-9 years service from this bloke with his tank and durability and i would not be surprised he becomes another 300 game player

This trade has Paul Broderick like signs

Being a great player and being a true leader are 2 different things

otherwise Dusty would have been captain last 10 years
Tim strikes me as a natural leader.

Not sure

I dont see it with Taranto , He seems like a great player that plays his game and would be burdened with the captaincy
Liam Baker looks more a natural leader to me
With captaincy, you need someone who can take the pressure of the position.
Taranto has been under the pump in the media but has only got better.
Character.

Baker would obviously be another good option, I just think Taranto would handle the media commitments better and the added pressure of the role.
