Tim on board for 7 years slim chance but still a possibility that Baker heads home when he activates free agency at end of his current two year extension
Bakes won't be a free agent when his deal runs out. Will only be his seventh year, so will be one year short.

We give him the captaincy and he isn't going anywhere.

As a player he would be an amazing captain, doesnt seem like the type that could talk to the group though.

Dead set gun. Such a shame he's working his arse off after coming here and hoping for a premiership while half the team is playing trash. We add him and Hopper without losing anyone this year and it looks like one of the best lists we've ever had. Seasons like this one (so far) live rent free in my head lol. I've said it in two other threads but the "what ifs" like this season and the potential we have kills me when we only have one win. Just keep trying to convince myself that some teams don't even get a premiership after dominating, and we got 3. Which is true, but I always come back to being frustrated with our great list not performing.

AFL #3 in Pressure Acts
AFL #6 in Defence half pressure acts
AFL #5 in Tackles
AFL #5 in Disposals
AFL #12 in Centre Clearances
AFL #15 for Total Clearances
AFL #3 for Fantasy Points - Behind, Daicos, Oliver and English.

Let's be honest. ANY TALK about Taranto is because he plays for Richmond and we make head lines. Oppo fans loved to think we have overpaid, it is absolutely ridiculous.

It is VERY rare, to have a mid, genuinely two way run, winning the ball and smashing it in pressure acts. We are blessed to have this guy on our team, he is a delight to watch.

KE% is the metric that people put him down about, he is = with Oliver, Cripps, Cotchin, Patracca and a little behind Neale etc.

Karen Cornes just said TT is not in the top-150 players in the comp:

Total Disposals: 5th in league
Total Tackles: 5th in league
SuperCoach: 7th
Contested poss: 16th
Effective disposals: 17th
Clearances: 15th
SI’s: 23rd
Metres gained: 38th

Not in top-150… what a goose !

The only things I want Taranto to improve on his synergy with the forwardline and (linking with that) his ability to get the ball into the hands of our better ball users. People may scoff at this, but he's actually using the ball much like Tucky did back in the day. He would rip the ball free from the contest and just boot it forward. Hopper does the same.

I think its a big reason why our forwards are struggling this year and why do not seem to be creating links of runners through the corridor this year. In the past Edwards, Cotchin and Prestia would either win the ball inside themselves and then find Bolton, Pickett, Houli etc on the outside and then run it forward. If they didn't, our outside stoppage players would tackle and turn the ball over in space enabling more freedom to begin chains of offensive play. All we need to Taranto and Hopper to learn how to thread the ball through traffic and to our outside runners. At the moment we have too many of the same type of players around stoppages.

I love them both but it is really interesting when you put Taranto and Graham next to each other. It is one of the greatest examples of "same player but x draft picks later". Taranto is literally what Graham wishes he could be in the middle of the ground.

We haven't really overpaid for him when you think of the full profile of Taranto. He is 25, played at a club that made finals and prelims for most of his time playing the game and he has played in the big dance. That type of experience for a young bloke is worth heaps.

His hands around stoppages to release players into space is very good.

He’s a very handy forward aswell.

I think we need to give him more time forward. They clearly said to him you’re a permanent midfielder at this footy club. But need to throw things around a bit.

He must be desperate for clicks

Kane Cornes said only 12 months ago that Port should target not only Taranto but Hopper too. Now Taranto is playing career best footy and all of a sudden he's not top 150 :straining:

As ive said a few times not the guy is a master troll.
