Unfortunately I think he's a bust. Pressure is great but that's his 1 wood and that's all he's got. Doesn't hit the scoreboard and this may sound a touch harsh but if his name wasn't Maurice Rioli he wouldn't still be on our list. If we were to delist him would any club pick him up? I suspect not. Would love to have to eat my words here btw

Dodoro would pick him up.

The fact he bid was probably the early warning sign

Still early in his career, time to work on things and grow. Not sure he is an outside player as his disposal isn't good enough, had a great game in the midfield in the VFL and think he would compliment Hopper, Taranto, Prestia by playing in the midfield with his speed and pressure. A lot to work with has great speed, and chases bloody hard defensively

He may not ever be a classic AFL mid but if he builds that tank properly then the high half forward role like JGTI spending a lot of time chasing campaigners through the middle of the ground and hurting them back the other way with his speed might be his go.

Just wants the tank and a specific suitable role, he can provide so much pressure that most other young players can't get near and it is quality score creating pressure, and it is instinctive.

I remain very bullish on Maurice Jnr.

Interesting year for our young small forwards next year

I like Clarke in that small forward role, pushing high. His foot skills stand out, and he’s the most likely to hit the scoreboard

MRJ and Cumberland stagnated this year, but think the ability is there, it’s above the shoulders ( particularly Noah).

Campbell is very highly rated internally so it’s going to be a tough for MRJ.

A pot?!?! Looked like he came back with a full kitchen of utensils!
He got into the Relton Roberts diet and started from a long way back , needs to get on the vegan diet this preseason otherwise …………..

Clarke definitely has the best skills of all our smalls, but he's a more outside player and doesn't provide enough tackle pressure. Hopefully he can work on this over the Summer. Bit of time in the gym will help him a lot.

Yep , strength is what he needs to work on , but ticks plenty of boxes re that small forward role.
Pretty sure he’s been working his arse off to get that gut running ability ala Lambert.
Should have the capacity to play high, where he can utilise that raking left foot running back towards goal

Unwatchable boring as **** Game plan with non existent structure playing a shit role, dreadful strength and conditioning coach, fitness levels below standards,no development program, coaches tanked the season

Just a few reasons why majority of players had average to poor season

It didn't come easy...took a while to find the right word...nearly two Seasons of "took a while"...finally found it...do not think MRJ has found it!
not yet, gets his chance next season, maybe his last ? up to him really n the new coach to an extent,is running out of chances tho.needs that breakout game next season or yes it could be curtains @ RFC
its a watch,same goes for Sonz,Cumbo,Mansell n Miller,tumoltous year @ the club,coach departing after 8 games,
no Gibcus,Tarrant,Lunch, pretty unsettled season ,not much went right except for the return of the Goat and the send off game for Cotch n JR,n TT to a lesser extent see, what happens

He ain't a forward!

He ain't a forward!

Played two impressive games in a row in the VFL midfield, so we play him as sub against NM and then a full game as a small forward. Ridiculous! just play him as a VFL midfielder until he breaks into AFL as a midfielder. Absolutely has the speed we need to go with TT and Hop.

He was recruited as a small forward and has all the attributes to play that role. He has played that role for us and hit the scoreboard.
Maybe a couple of years down the track with some extra size and experience he may play some midfield time, but not ready to go into the midfield and compete against AFL midfielders.

He’s a forward next year who may possibly push up onto the wing

If MRJ can build his tank, he could be a replacement for Prestia, seems to be lost in the forward line. I'm not willing to give up on him yet. As he is still only a couple of years into his career. If he showed nothing in regards to midfield, I would say let him go, but was impressed with his games in the VFL when he was moved into the middle.
