Wow ,so much abuse of a talented young player playing in a practice match.
Talented?

His skills are horrible. The only thing he does is run fast and put pressure on - with ball in hand it's almost a guaranteed turnover.

If his surname was Castagna he would be public enemy one.

I see posts on constructive criticism of his game and lack of preparation primarily. Don't think most of it gets close to any type of personal abuse. We all want the best for him.

Perhaps you need to read the room better. And maybe watch his game in full. It deserves the constructive criticism and discussion.

Agree
I don’t see it as vitriol just more disappointment because we want to see him make it but he isn’t giving us a huge amount to be optimistic about when younger players with less experience are going past him

He's not overweight for one thing and it was our first practice match.

I mean people say he's only on the list because of his name but at the same time he wouldn't be getting close to this level of scrutiny if it wasn't for his name. No one was losing their minds at Stengle and he spent ages in the VFL

As a late pick small forward he is really tracking better than most taken in the range he was taken

Players are gunna have bad games. Sometimes terrible games. And players are also going to not make it. That's the reality of the Industry.

And people are going to have opinions.

I don't know if he will make it. Maybe he won't.

I don't see any value in someone trotting in on their horse like a hero calling everyone else's opinions abuse when most of it isn't.

Huge warning sirens going on in this kids game right now.

His fitness level is clearly sub AFL standard. He makes strange choices with ball in hand to evade and put himself into more trouble then what it was worth.

Im seeing Green, Campbell and Sonsie all going past him in the small forward role at the rate of knots and even Mansell has gone past him it seems.

It’s going to have to be a massive start to the vfl season for Maurice to get the ground he’s lost back.

Maurice has already played very well in big games in front of big crowds. He was thinking pretty clearly on those occasions. So we know he has that in his locker. The other players you mentioned probably need to do something on that sort of stage before we can confirm they have gone past Maurice.

whts this season #3 for him now comin up ? not sure theyve gone past him yet but it wont be long before they do if he continues as you correctly point out to make 'strange choices with ball in hand' bc its still present & in a big way & he needs to get it outta his game & quickly, otherwise, they'll just glide past him, totally agree.

A Brand new year and everyone judging based on a practice game. Let’s base it on the real season AFL/VFL when it means something.

Pathetic opinion.
He’s not fit and his ball use is verging on embarrassing.
When you’re trying to become a regular in the best 22 practice games are when you should be showing something.

Pathetic opinion, keeping positive on one of our young players. He has many negative comments, so no harm on something that’s positive.

Agree, all the online bashing has already seen one Tiger lose love for the game.

I don't think anyone is basing these comments on just one practice game.

I've been a supporter of his from the start, but it didn't take long for me to see what was really going on, it's about time he showed some composure.

EDIT,,,if I was coaching id have him play midfield in the twos, might get his touch ticking over a bit.

He was moved to midfield in the VFL , then small forward in the seniors then back to small forward in the VFL etc etc etc rinse and repeat , to be fair under Hardwick a number of players were being played out of position as he was trying to find a new way to cook

Yes, forgot about that, im like a dory now days. Then its up to him to work and improve his game, he doesn't need defending from us, he needs to lift.

needs to learn to pick out the first best option rather than try and Razzle Dazzle
we all know he can apply pressure now is the time for him to go back to vfl and start getting it 25 times and setting up goals with similar age bracket at the lower and slower level
Think that’s it in a nutshell

He tries to hard to be that X factor all the time when that simply isn’t his role

We have the likes of Bolton and Dusty who can break the games open
Jr’s role as a small is to do the basics on a consistent level with the odd special moment

Needs to just focus on the basics and get them right and build his game off that
