We rarely give away players for nothing who then improve significantly at another club.

Membrey is the last one I remember.

Nankervis maybe the last one we badly underrated.

The Swans don’t get it all right - but generally, we been pretty good at identifying dead wood.

That’s flat out incorrect

Cameron, Newman, Allir, Nankervis to name a few

Even Sam Murray was thriving at Collingwood before his suspension

We got a 2nd round pick for Sam Murray, who went on to play 13 innocuous games for Collingwood. It was the best trade (for us) I can recall since JPK!

Newman was a B-grader when he was traded & remained a B-grader. And in any event, we didn’t give him away for nothing.

Aliir wasn’t traded for nothing either.

Cameron, yes, we probably got that one wrong. But we had a glut of rucks at the time & pulled the wrong reign.

My point was that we identify dead wood pretty effectively. We don’t just give away players who turn out to be AFL quality.

I’m comfortable that Konstanty just isn’t good enough.

What is this revisionism for?
It's publicly available info.

Newman has gone to play over 100 games at the Blues. A fourth rounder in exchange is indeed effectively nothing.

Teams have given up second round picks to move one spot higher up the draft.

Murray only got the 13 games and was still clearly first team material. He also earned a rising star nomination in that time.

Additionally we gave up a third rounder + pick 70 to get that 2nd round selection.

Aliir was traded undervalued too. Port paid more for Rat playing defense.. at VFL level

Then there are other players that haven't even been mentioned

Actually been terrible with "dead wood" both in who we have moved on (and what we got in return) & in who we have retained for no on-field return
