Every sports club is the same , not all can like each other , or the coach , it's lifeAnd Allir
I suspect Hamling is in the same boat
Any reason for that mate? Bad attitude or something similar?Every sports club is the same , not all can like each other , or the coach , it's life
You could pretty much copy and paste this into the thread of every kid over the last 2-3 seasons. It is kind of depressing that we draft a kid in the first round. Sit him in the forward pocket in a pretty awful VFL team.
We never hear anything about how he is going or what the club thinks of him. Seemingly no effort is made at all to get him more involved in the game or try him in another position. And then we get rid of him.
Almost feels like they decided almost immediately that he wasn't any good and wasn't worth bothering with. I realise it wouldn't be like that but I seriously question why we even recruit these guys.
Surely we didn’t get rid of him so cheaply because of “that” incident involving Callum Mills? If so, that’s quite pettyIt is kind of depressing that we draft a kid in the first round. Sit him in the forward pocket in a pretty awful VFL team.

This draft period will eventually catch up with us.You could pretty much copy and paste this into the thread of every kid over the last 2-3 seasons.
I honestly don't know who has torched through our last few drafts more - Horse, Truslove, Beatson or Dalrymple.
Probably all of them in some way.
You'd think if they were that angry about it, they would have traded him last year. It was all known by trade week last year iirc.Surely we didn’t get rid of him so cheaply because of “that” incident involving Callum Mills? If so, that’s quite petty
You have to wonder if they were all on the same page. You could pretty much copy and paste this into the thread of every kid over the last 2-3 seasons.

My mail was that he was not as committed as he could be. I don't know whether it was fitness. doing the extras, being a team mate, etc. Whether he just hated Sydney. But that is what I heard. It is kind of depressing that we draft a kid in the first round. Sit him in the forward pocket in a pretty awful VFL team.

I feel like my commitment levels would wane if I was sent to Death Valley to play football aka the forward line in our reserves team.My mail was that he was not as committed as he could be. Judging by your picture you look like you have very big ears, so I trust whatever you say you heard. My mail was that he was not as committed as he could be. I don't know whether it was fitness. doing the extras, being a team mate, etc. Whether he just hated Sydney. But that is what I heard.
It is always much better being a good listener than a good talker they say.Judging by your picture you look like you have very big ears, so I trust whatever you say you heard.
He has been wholly underwhelming on the field for mine (despite our garbage VFL team over the role), but in a role we desperately need to find another player in the medium to longer term (You would hope if Cleary becomes good enough at AFL level - it will ultimately be in the long term), it is still surprising we chose to cut our losses quite so quickly. Suspect there is more to the story behind the scenes, beyond just that incident.Surely we didn’t get rid of him so cheaply because of “that” incident involving Callum Mills? If so, that’s quite petty
They play Cleary in the midfield in the reserves. They should have done the same with Konstanty and Vickery. At least give them a chance to show if they can play or not.He has been wholly underwhelming on the field for mine (despite our garbage VFL team over the role), but in a role we desperately need to find another player in the medium to longer term (You would hope if Cleary becomes good enough at AFL level - it will ultimately be in the long term), it is still surprising we chose to cut our losses quite so quickly. The problem here is that we complain when we play draftees out of position and say they were never given a chance to develop in the role at which they played in the rep leagues, then in this case we complain that he was always played in the position that he was recruited for. They play Cleary in the midfield in the reserves. I reckon Papley would struggle to get a kick playing small forward in our reserves the last couple of years.
Well Cleary is a mid. It's just that there might be a role for him as small forward in the senior team in his first few years. They play Cleary in the midfield in the reserves. They should have done the same with Konstanty and Vickery. At least give them a chance to show if they can play or not.

My point is it was obviously almost immediately that Konstanty was struggling to get involved in the game playing small forward in our VFL team. I don't watch every minute of every reserves game, and maybe he is just straight up no good, but I never saw any effort being made to try and get him more involved in the game by going into the midfield. The problem here is that we complain when we play draftees out of position and say they were never given a chance to develop in the role at which they played in the rep leagues, then in this case we complain that he was always played in the position that he was recruited for.
I really doubt the Mills incident has anything to do with not being in anyone's good books. I tend to think that Rusty has probably hit the nail on the head and assume that Konstanty didn't really 'buy in' to the opportunity he was given. It may just be a personality thing or even a maturity thing.
I couldn't answer that, but it seemed to me (from the outside) they we identified the need for a good small forward, hence we took the best of breed with our first pick. Because of this, we really wanted him to develop and succeed as a small forward and therefore gave him every opportunity to do so. Maybe we could have put him into the middle, but then it would rob time from those we are trying to develop there at the same time as not developing his small forward craft. My point is it was obviously almost immediately that Konstanty was struggling to get involved in the game playing small forward in our VFL team. However, at the end of the day I strongly suspect that his attitude may have the most bearing of all. It could be that he has a change now that he realises he has gone from 1st round pick to steak knives and only just escaped being delisted by the skin of his teeth, as Norf has offered him a 2nd chance to have a career. It is now completely up to his attitude.
And we keep picking themNorth Melbourne must be a chip company because Sydney keep sending them potatoes
