Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

Eagles supporters think their talls are god's gift to football. If they all play lets pay them in kind.

Imagine Hammer and Irish crashing around the forward line with Eddie, Jeff, Walks and Robbo to mop up.

Apparently Glass could hardly walk after the Pies game because of his groins.

Not setting out to be arrogant here, but I've looked at this game whichever way and I can't see where we are going to lose.

A refined "press" alone will not be the difference in this game, if we've learnt our lessons from our last meet.
We should win the centre and with Jamo back to fitness, our backs should hold up.

What happens up forward though is anyones guess, but given enough feed and straight kicking we will be O.K.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

The question really should be; When was the last time we had three in-form talls in the team?
If George W believes that man and fish can co-exist, then I believe that Warnock, O'hAilpin and Hampson can.

Kreuzer is very unlikely. Has anyone got a screen shot of Kreuzer at the game? Boy, did he look glum. :(
Because I had nothing else to do on a Monday afternoon, I had a look.

Last game with three ruckmen
Round 24, 2011 vs. St Kilda - Kreuzer, Warnock, O'hAilpin
Lost by 20 points.

Last win with three current ruckmen (for any team)
Round 14, 2010 vs. Brisbane - O'hAilpin, Hampson and Jacobs
Won by 55 points.
This one is void, as Setanta was only used forward and had no hitouts. Although it doesn't count, I thought I'd include it anyway.

O'hAilpin, Warnock and Hampson have never been in the same team.

I may continue looking back to find our last win with three ruckmen.

Assuming Setanta will play CHF and not ruck if Hampson comes in.

So really two rucks and a crazy guy who does fist pumps after taking marks. Gotta love him - how psyched must he have been before the game? Imagine getting caught between Mitch and Setanta in the pre-game huddle? Scary stuff.

Funny.:D

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

Last win with three ruckmen
Round 19, 2008 vs. Port Adelaide - Kreuzer, Hampson, Cloke
Won by 66 points.

Thanks again...thus a rarity for us, but not ruled out.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

fair go it was setantas first final apparently. Id be pysched to be on the team too

Nah, he just one big mad Irishman :D
Nutty as a fruitcake, just the way we like him. Point of difference and all.
Only Stevie J and the big mad Irishman would take a mark in the goal square turn around on the opposite boot and skim it over the top of two desperate defenders.....after missing our first 5 shots at goal.
Crazy I tells ya:eek:

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

B: Laidler Jamison Yarran
HB: Duigan Henderson Davies
C: Simpson Robinson Scotland
HF: Gibbs Thornton Walker
F: Garlett O'halpin Betts
R: Warnock Judd Muprhy
I/C: Hampson Ellard Carazzo Armfield (S)

Hammer to play 70% forward.

Thornton to play a far-ranging CHF (Chop-out in defence)

Match-ups:

Henderson vs Kennedy
Jamison vs Lynch
Davies vs Le Cras (best type for type match-up we have)
Carazzo vs Kerr/Priddis
Warnock vs Cox
Hampson vs Natanui
O'halpin vs Mckenzie

Those are likley to be the crucial match-ups. Joseph loses out because the Eagles have no obvious small forwards to nullify and Ellard plays better in the middle, may be back against Geelong if we win however

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

So last time we played the Eagles:

- Jamo went down really early
- Hendo was playing forward and was transferred to the backline mid-game...
- Laidler wasn't playing
- Duigan wasn't playing
- Waite wasn't playing
- Robinson wasn't playing
- Setanta wasn't playing
- Hampson wan't playing
- Curnow wasn't playing
- Austin was playing
- O'Keeffe was playing
- Warnock was 1st week back from the head knock
- Kreuzer was 2 weeks back from the Knee
- Houlihan was playing when the game has gone past him
- Russell was playing and we know how unfit he was then
- Thornton was playing defence

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

These are some of the names who played last time which probably won't play this Saturday:

Houlihan, Russell, Tuohy, Kreuzer, Austin, O'Keeffe..

The following are players who didn't play last time and will most likely play on Saturday:

Robinson, Joseph, O'hAilpin, Duigan, Jamison (barely played), Warnock (first game back after injury), Waite*, Davies*, Hampson (depending on Kreuz and Davies)

*Probably won't play

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

Like others it is plain that we need talls to play against WCE. This is a final! I do not think we should take half measures but should pick the following "horses for courses" team:

FF Hampson (201), O'Hailpin (199), Gibbs (188)
Hf Thornton (192), Kreuzer (200), Casboult (198)
C Davies (188), Judd (189), Waite (194)
HB Bower (193), Henderson (196), White (190)
FB Austin (193), Jamison (193), Laidler (189)
Ruck: Warnock (206), Carrazzo 187), Walker (190)

I/C Watson (195), Lucas (188), O'Keefe (188) (s) Betts (173)

I realise this is 10 ins but apart from Casboult all have played senior footy this year. Eddie is the sub just in case it is a bit too tall and he showed yesterday he can take a good contested mark on the forward line. Never forget when Kreuzer went down against the aints we only had 3 over 190. This must not be repeated, particularly against WCE.

Murphy, Ellard, Simpson et al can take the week off and freshen up for the game against Geelong.

Most rediculas thing I have read all day.Surely you cant be serious

Re: Carlton vs. West Coast: NEXT WEEK

Eagles supporters are as cocky as ****, god I can't wait to show them we are a lot better side to the one they played at ethiad earlier this year.
Come on blueboys you can do it ;)

Try living in Perth and listening to the E-girl shite every weekend.....

Amazing, most were not interested in football last year, some I know even cancelled their membership!! They never even talked football last year, yet now are the same people trying to get finals tickets....

Hardly saw the lovely Eagles yellow and blue jumpers and shirts last year or 2, suddenly everyone has a jumper of shirt.....

PLEASE Blues, lets wipe the cocky smirks off their face!!

Added that T-Bird was playing defence!

Basically our entire structure all together was completely different against Eagles and it showed!

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

Weagles very confident on the main board and their board....

Of course they are, just as Essendon were before Sunday.
This match does though have the look of one of the better games for this year.

I can't wait,

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

Every time we play over in Perth we're wearing white, yellow or the new one.

No chance of us having to wear a clash jumper is there?

We better not be numb3rs. :(

We wore the baby blue against Freo over there and we only wear our clash jumper 4 times a year during the season.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast Sat 17th Sep at Patersons Stadium

Rain forecast at the moment for Saturday, with showers increasing later in the day.
