Not so sure about Murphy around the wicket to Chandimal. There's not enough spin yet to make sure he has to play at ones pitching outside off; and the plan seems to be to slide the wicket ball across as variety, so pitching it wide is his preference.

If he was bowling a little straighter (around off stump, just maybe fourth stump) so the one that turns brought LBW, bat pad, and bowled into play and still ha dthe one sliding across it would make more sense to me.

Is the reverse sweep coming into acceptance as a legitimate shot amongst old timer test purists yet? So commonly played these days.
I wouldn't call myself a purist. Whatever works is the way to go. But I think it's a fantastic shot to have if you're good enough to pick the line and length and don't play it when lbw is in play.

Makes it nearly impossible to employ a containment line and field. And when the ball is turning I think it's safer than the straight bat shots you'd play against the same balls- block, cover drive, flick.

Good man. I spend a lot of it looking at other people there with that ‘I just don’t belong here’ feeling but maybe one day I’ll shake that.
Get yourself a bench and some free weights, A couple of bands and you are away. Yes it can be a pain in the ... everything, but it is worth doing.

The actual gym can be a drag with all the macho dudes, and others on their phones hogging space. So get your own, you won't regret it. Cost beneficial too

I still don't know why Asalanka doesn't get more of a crack playing test cricket for Sri Lanka

His test record isn't great from 3 tests but he has a good ODI record and he couldn't be worse than some of their test batsmen.
His First Class record isn't crash hot either, from the looks. Maybe they've just decided he isn't a long form player.

Maybe but records aren't everything, I think he has the talent to play test cricket, he reminds me a lot of Lara with how he plays.

Murphy's lack of bowling (via BBL) hurting him?
Maybe. I don't think he's bowling poorly.
As I said above if he is going to be around the wicket to Chandimal I would rather he was bowling more around fourth stump than sixth. Or the current line from over the wicket. imo, it isn't regularly turning enough (yet) for the line he's mostly bowling around the wicket. It might be a day five line.
There's nothing wrong with trying to use the straight one sliding across as the wicket taking surprise ball. It seems just that little too wide on the stock ball.

Maybe he's concerned about getting swept or worked to the leg side if he gets too straight. Or maybe I'm imagining the line I think he's bowling.

Once I’m at the weight I want I will scale it back a bit, I spend a lot of time on the treadmill. I’ll get some equipment at some point later in the year once I’ve moved house

WHAT IS THE F**KING GO WITH PHONES.

My mate that has given me a bit of advice with how to structure a visit if I’m doing weights and machines etc has basically said just do as much as you can as quickly as you can with no rest, and if that means doing lower weights than do it: okay no problem, and it seems to work.

While I’m doing it, all I see is these dudes with ‘(insert local town here) Weights and Supplements’ singlets on, sitting looking at their phones on benches for 10 minutes at a time.

I haven't watched all the Test but from what I have seen this pitch is spinning, but it spins a lot in non-dangerous areas and spins slowly in the dangerous ones.

His trajectory has become rather flat.
