Unless something remarkable happens Koschitzke has two more years left before his AFL career ends in 2026. Until then he is a non-story unless of course it appears he is keeping a young tall out whose VFL performances warrant selection. Until that happens live and let live.

Correct, he was delisted by the Hawks and was even dropped from the Box Hill that season.
Was actually offered a contract by Hawks to stay, and they upped their offer to 2 years when we entered the picture. He was a cheap KP recruit signed to be a fill in after Jack retired. Expectations on the guy are unrealistic, and I think he may do more than okay as a defender. Time will tell

Thanks, and correct - there was a one year extension offered when Mitchell took over from Clarkson. Until then he was gonski because of how inconsistent he was under Clarkson - Sammy played him the last four games of 2023 (he'd coached him at VFL) the contract was ordinary so he requested a trade. It offer went up to two years when we were nominated early in early Sept by Kozi and we came to the party on the last day of that trade period - so he cost Pick 49 (the pick we got for Soldo).

The delisted guy I mistook was Fergus Greene, my bad, who he was competing with for games, along Brandon Ryan, though Kozi was played as a second string ruck under Mitchell for those last few games. Kozi said at the time the writing was on the wall and it was best to move on.

If we are only talking talent and upside then with out a doubt Balta, Gibcus and Trainor are the way forward in an ideal world.

With Gibcus coming off a knee and not available for early games and Trainor maybe not physically ready for the level certainly as a kpd then early in the season the three talls for early games would likely be Balta, Blight and Miller.

I don't have a problem with playing Miller as a third tall the role id designate to Trainer if he is right to go. That would mean Blight plays kpd and gets a gorilla.

The reasons are simple. People have often spoke about Millers attributes. He has pace loads of it for a guy his size. He is a very good user of the ball he covers the ground well and if he can ever make himself make a decision to commit and just go he would be great as third man up.

The biggest criticism's of him is how easily he gets pushed out of contests at times by smaller opponents and getting caught between committing to third man up or marking a man.
Blight has size and strength and is very good in the air his weakness is he is a tad slow and has already been caught out when on quicker tall forwards hence he gets the slower Gorilla's

On Kosi and playing defenders well ive already named 5 players i think are in front of him or need to be developed and played in front of him. Balta, Miller, Gibcus, Trainor, and Blight. My personal preference is also for Bauer to be developed as a third tall defender but that is not going to happen it seems.

If Lefau was fit then for me the three talls up forward would be Lynch Lefau and the most impressive of the younger key forwards we have in the off season. There are plenty of them and surely one of them will put a hand up.
Gray, Bauer, Fawcett, Faull, Armstrong and Sims.

If two of the young key forwards show enough then id be going with the two kids with Lynch and play Lefau from the bench or as the sub. I would really like for us to play Lefau as a big medium mid/fwd.

With Lefau also coming off a knee and not likely to play early games then i think the club will go with Lynch Kossie and hopefully one of the young kpf's at least.
To be honest im not sure about either of Kossies or Millers upside. what they do have is 50 odd games of experience each big bodies that can handle the rigours of AFL. this is what will be needed while youngsters develop at what ever rate they develop at.

The reason i think they will play Kossie and ive said it before he is only 24, He now has 62 games and i think he did show a bit of improvement late this year. My preference though would be to get games into the younger talls if at all possible.
Similar with Miller.

The forward half is pretty bereft of experienced players Tom 220 games fit and healthy helps with this. Then there is Kossie 62 games and Mansell 53 games they are the only three forwards we have with at least 50 games then it starts dropping away, Rioli has 36 games and the only other forward with at least 20 games is Campbell with 21.

Take Lynch out of this equation and it smacks you in the face the dilemma we have with kossie.
To me it also shows why Mansell will be a regular forward again next year.
The other thing that smacks you in the face is just how bereft we are of general forwards and how few games the vast majority of forwards we have, have behind them.

I think if Lynch, Kossie and Mansell are all fit then the club will play all three and we then hope they actually play the younger guys around them.
A tall to go with them hopefully Fawcett or one of the six talls put their hand up. Hopefully Algar shows a bit geez we lack goal kicking small/medium forwards, hopefully Rioli can take the next step and later in the year Hotton can get some games there.

Yeah if hypothetically balta does miss the start of the year then a tall defence of kosi, miller and young has a nice ring to it
Young won't be available. Might see some earlier than expected Trainor action

So why is Balta missing a month ?
Could be a chance he cops a suspension depending on how it plays out, even if he is acquitted in court the AFL might not like him fighting like when Rioli and Bolton got into a fight a few years ago and copped a massive fine

Not saying it WILL happen but it wouldn’t be out of the question

Balta is not the type to instigate aggression imo. Wait for the facts to come out and I reckon we will see that he acted against an aggressor. Not concerned in the slightest

I’m not even suggesting that he was the aggressor in the situation, it’s more just how the AFL have been treating off field issues under the new administration and not afraid to suspend players for behaviour that they don’t want associated with the brand (players fault or not)

In that Rioli and Bolton dust up a few years ago the boys copped fines and that was for standing up for Riolis girlfriend who had been inappropriately groped

1st offence they will just give him a warning

Noidnadroj = No Idea
Kosi is up there with one of the worst RFC players to ever pull on the jumper, he's a shit player.
A perfect 'break glass' player? Wow, thank god you have nothing to do with list management

Not sure you understand what a ‘break glass’ player is? I regard them as someone who can play multiple roles, doesn’t cost anything and plays predominantly VFL. If they are good enough to play regular AFL then I’d not call them ‘break glass’ player.

He was dealt a sh*t sandwich playing forward in our team in 2024.

We can revisit this end of 2026 when I believe he’ll be retained on the list. He’ll be seen as a ‘break glass’ player who is equipped to play senior footy in multiple positions.

In 2-years he’ll be 26yo. He’ll be a 196cm player capable of averaging a dozen disposals, 4 marks and a goal a game with a bit of ruckwork or defensive cover.

He’s not getting delisted as he’s 196cm tall.
