maybe the timing of the leads can be off, and it's always harder when he was 1 v 3, but I reckon the workrate aspect of it rarely, if ever, drops off

people are ridiculously harsh on him IMO. on track for 80+ goals across two seasons in a historically bad team with awful I50 numbers. The bloke is an absolute gun young KPF and while this definitely isn't directed at you because you know I respect you, TMB, as i said in the GDT, I seriously question the judgment of anyone who doesn't rate him

i'll also add that i genuinely can't wait until he gets a proper partner CHF in this team (hopefully Chom). it's going to do him and the team a world of good and take a heap of pressure off his shoulders

No offence taken mate, we always have good discussions. I've said before I rate him. He's not a contested marking beast and therefore needs to get separation and come at the ball carrier, where he's strong. People whose opinion I rate know about his tendency to go body on body instead of on long screaming leads, and it def gets taken advantage of.

As I've said every time I've critiqued his game though, he is very, very good when he uses his nous and plays lead up rather than goal square. Some weeks it comes off better than others but he gives himself the best chance when he plays this way.

I do think if Comben comes on, his natural contested marking will combine well with Nick and force him to play in a way that suits him. I reckon this was the logic of putting Buckets there this year as well.

Not to mention improved speed of ball movement upfield which should free up some space for him to work in.

I don't think that's as much an issue as the black and white statements made by some on here. Most on here are able to grasp some semblance of nuance. But the dismissal of players' potential shits me up the wall. Some blokes are shitmen and will never make it despite obvious talent. At the start of the season LDU was one of these blokes in many posters' minds. Powell has notably become a whipping boy in that vein now. Some established senior blokes are also worse than other blokes who have played absolutely **** all games in the seniors. The bias for some players and against others is just mind boggling

I think what you talk about has led to what I'm talking about. Too much exposure to whipping-boy-itis has made people lose the plot in response.
