One thing I've noticed is that he struggles to get away from his opponent at times. I think he has quite predictable running patterns.

Probably the only thing about his game that annoys me. He's a 24 year old KPF who is leading the Coleman over the first 2 rounds, I can't complain too much lol
And anywhere outside 40m is a struggle for him.

Sammy Mclure reckon Richmond will come hard for Larkey. Didn’t even realise he was out of contract end of 2024 until just checked. Surely we get the ball rolling? Richmond, Geelong, both going to have key forwards in Hawkins and Lynch/ Riewoldt coming off the books.

Lacks speed off the mark, strength, and a vertical leap.
Instead relies on work rate, smarts, free kicks etc.
Sums up why he was taken so late and why the draft is such a crap shoot. Recruiters would say no elite attributes no point of difference at the elite level and a low ceiling! Glad we saw something in the mighty Souv!

The only downside for Nick is that he can’t afford to get the yips.

Geelong might have a think given Cameron & Hawkins are in the twilight.

I remember talking to a recruiter years ago that reckon the Cats were keen to take a punt on Larkey in 2019 as a rookie pick ( if he slipped through the draft).

Lucky for him he got to our great club or he would've had a hard time breaking into seniors. Probably wouldn't have developed the way he has either, not being the primary focal point of a forward line.

Its close at the top hey.

If he kicks five straight then he goes to the top, four straight is just not quite enough.
Mmm, Nah. Would need to kick another 20 straight to go to the top.
Table is ranked in order of Goals kicked / (Goals+Behinds). Currently he's on 130/(130+45) = 74.29.
Another 5 straight would give 135 / (135 + 45) = 75.0 % (enough for 2nd place).
To go to the top, he'd need to get to 150 / (150 + 45) = 76.9 %.

And converts his chances

Big Whoop to Harry McKay taking 5 contested marks ….. to kick 1.4 for the day 🤷‍♂️
It’s the kind of logic that prevented Ben Brown from getting AA three years in a row when he went back-to back-to back runner up in the Coleman.

For some reason, goal assists, contested marks trump goals for KPFs in a fantasy where a bunch of elite sports people play against literally no one.
