A lumbering giant fresh off a plantar fascia tear will cure what ails us.

Damn you, this club has a proud, rich history of rolling out big men coming off foot injuries with no warm-up matches.

Alright let's have the discussion.

He's actively hurting the team at the moment with his lack of effort and poor footy IQ.

Comben has played 7 AFL games total and is already a much better lead and pack mark than Larkey, and it's not because Comben is an exceptional talent or anything. He just works harder.

I've been saying this for years now (and copped a lot of shit for it) but Larkey simply is not a #1 key forward. Our entire forward structure is worse off because of it.

If the only type of forward entry are bombs ? …. Then yes …. He will struggle.

Probably should have been subbed last week. Maybe injury still had an impact

He's honestly worse than Brown when it comes to the goldilocks effect of being a forward. It has to be so, so right for him to even sniff a scoring opportunity and when that fails? Play for frees. Hard. Way too hard. To the point where the umpires take notice and do him even worse.

Like get some competitive fire in you in a marking contest, bulk up some more, really stiff them, take strong leads with the arms out stretch in front, don't rely on chaos plays to pick up and sneak a round the body kick for goal when opposition defence crumbles under the pressure of players around you.

Create your own scoring opportunities Nick, because so far you're really exposing yourself for being reliant on the successes of others in the forward line to create it for you. You have no mongrel or forward fire to pack mark or lead on your own and when its not working out you work either too hard for nothing like a headless chook or not at all.

Bit frustrated with you Larks, you're a number one forward now. Act like it. It's high praise when casual North viewers look at Comben and say 'he moves like Carey' -- and nobody notices you unless its a beautiful perfect day. But footy ain't like that.

He is frustrating.

Mainly because when he is actively leading and on the move he finds space and kicks goals, but when he plays that stale, flat footed, playing for free kicks game he has little to impact at all.

At times he can’t even offer a contest because he is ducking out the back trying to get a cheapy over the top (Zurhaar and Curtis are also guilty of this). As soon as he starts front running then our forward structure breaks down on the turnover and he gives us nothing defensively.

His positioning is an issue, his playing for free kicks is an issue and his contested marking (while never impressive) has been missing for 2+ years.

He is a good role player but he needs to lock himself in the gym and get some real physicality into game if he is going to go to another level.

When ever things don't go his way he throws the toys out of the pram. Needs to learn from comben how to be physical and make a lead. How embarrassing is that. He took a strong contested grab 1st qtr and I thought here we go that's what he needs to do and he can do it. Yet did sweet **** all for rest of the game.

All that having been said his hair always looks in place.

Larkey seems to think every NM player can kick 80 metres. All he wants to de is lead back towards goal.

Someone at NMFC needs to demand Larkey start leading AT the ball carrier.
He doesn't want to work for his goals, he wants others to do it for him.
