Dasher got hurt, but played the game out in the forward line

... and Wojac didn't play at all.

If our GF team is the same as our PF team, the changes from round 14 will be:

In: Ottens, Johnson, Wojcinski
Out: Mumford, Stokes, Hogan

Ditto Saints - team would be

In: King, Eddy
Out: McEvoy, Geary

Is it just me or it's the general feeling atm...all the pundits are back on the cats after our backyard blitz on the pies!? or was it hyena's to slaughter from a hurting pride of cats.
Don't get me wrong, the saints did well to get over the doggies on friday night.
But was there more of a statement in the cats win saturday night, i've spoken to alot of mates that support other sides and there all back on the cats.

Re: Team changes for the GF?

He's not meant to be hard. He's meant to be quick, skillful and flashy. I'm not sure you understand the need to have a team of players that play all different types of roles.

Hogan is just a poorer version of Bartel, Corey and Selwood.

And why do we need a spare tall? Are we going to go with three ruckmen for the first time in three years, in a grand final?

Varcoe looks like he enjoys being further up the ground in space, looked good down back linking a few times.

Hogan isn't a poorer model, he's only starting, and looks like another Ablett at times, give him time.

Against Saints, they have the tall alternatives with King Gardiner and Kozzie. Just have bad memories of Gardiner of all people kicking 4 goals last time, and that last minute mark, when he kneed Harry Taylor in the head and knocked him out.
Not to mention the winning goal.
Mumford put a big hit on him in that game, but maybe not quite big enough.

We should go in unchanged. Noone deserves to be dropped and Stokes hasn't done enough this year to warrant an inclusion.

The current forecast for saturday is to be wet and windy. Will this favour us more than the saints??

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Stephen King said a significant cold front would sweep through Melbourne on Saturday with windy and showery conditions and possible local hail and thunder.

He said it was too early to predict what time the storm might hit.

But of course Kingy is predicting a storm.

Geez I hope Ive got seats undercover!

Good luck this week, Cats!

Have set my allegiances to your lot in this year’s GF (wasn’t hard, my one of my best friends is a Cat’s supporter and it’s great to see her happy on GF day… gee, I wonder what that feels like?). Have a massive amount of respect for your team and its game plan.

Please destroy St Kilda, would love to see that arrogant smirk wiped off Lyon’s face.

Cheers.

rain would be great for geelong, but windy has no meaning at the mcg, it very rarely gets in there enough to create a issue. if its a scrappy game the bigger bodys of geelong would come out on top, if the forecast is correct expect rooke to start on the wing and come in off the line.

i think the reason why stokes is getting so much attention is they may have another injury, not sure how stevie-j pulled up. they do want to play stokes but cant see them dropping anyone.

Gazzas brownlow win should lift him for a fantastic performance this week.

You would expect rain would help us but it also inhibits the way we like to play. Quick, with short passes. St Kilda have the advantage of two tall forwards if teams are required to 'bomb it long'. I dont know what the Saints are like in teh wet but given they love it in close and stoppages it may advantage them more. We need to open up the play. Harder to do in the wet

I am not sure what effect rain will have.

It will help the saints zone. The zone relies on incorrect disposal from the frontal pressure of its players up the ground. Rain will only enhance this.

On the other hand the cats defence relies on rebounds from contested footy. Rain only helps heighten the importance of contested footy.

Additonally we obviously like to break zones with handball and in slippery conditions whilst under grand final pressure it wouldn't be easy to stuff up and cough up easy turnovers.

We'll know pretty early who it assists.

Rain, hail or shine...

I hope this will be the result at around 5pm this Saturday!

GO CATS!

SEN just reported that Goddard grabbed his left hammy, not sure if it meant anything

Well they actually said he felt the back of his leg and then had a kick and then left the field.

The journo took this as a hammy..

Me thinks if Goddard had done a hammy that he would not have then taken a kick.

Me thinks he did something wasn't sure what it was or didn't think it was bad then took a kick and realized he had to leave the session.

Me thinks as has been discussed somewhere else he got bitten by a bug or something? Then the poor darling had to run off for some Stingose or something of the sort. Bloody soft Saints

Interesting! they could be a man down by half time or earlier.
Because they'll play him, even under a cloud.

I think more he will say his right, if he has done it. Noone pulls out of a granny especially since its been a hell of a year for them. Hopefully he hasn't done nothing in my opinion because i wanna beat them fair and square, which i think we will, the pressure will get to them, the crowd, the MCG factor and the 50 pre-game wee's will dehydrate them and they will all cramp. :D
