Are bombers any chance of taking him at 24 in the real deal?

I wouldn't have thought he'd be available at our pick 24 but if so would assume that we wouldn't think twice about reading his name out. Ant555 has said that he'd even consider him at pick 10. But in the real deal this may not happen as he'll probably fall in between our two picks.

Pick 10? Wow...

Did he really say that?

I think ant ment that he would consider him if a mid didnt slip and we didnt want to go tall. He stated that Talia would likely to go before our pick (which i think was his orginal pick early on). People were basically asking what would you do if rohan cunnington lucas etc all gone. He stated that christensen would be considered.. That was my take on it anyways.

Why not? Obviously very good this year but is not such an oustandingly gifted player or athlete that his size wouldn't count against him. Seems to me there's a large group of midfielders who are of similar footballing talents but who are bigger; stands to reason they'd get taken before him.

Put it this way, would love to have him at the cattery but would have reservations about taking him at #17.

Pick 24 Essendon Troy Taylor 188cm 81kg Utility Northern Territory

Troy Taylor has had a chequered past. Everyone knows that. However he showed some real magic during the National Carnival and apparently presented really well during the draft camp.Taylor will begin his career predominantly as a floating tall flanker however he has the ability to play further up the ground when he spends some time in a professional environment and builds a decent fitness base. I think essendon have a fair brigade of foot soldiers but little dazzling talent so I would be pretty excited to pick up Rohan and Taylor with my first two selections.

My rationale is to obtain the best player available and Taylor COULD be a ripper.
My next selection is guaranteed to come from the Geelong Falcons!

It seems as though clubs are far less paranoid about the physique of the player, rather that skills have become so important in the modern game.

Christensen, to my eye, is a really agile kid who possesses a low centre of gravity. He's fairly quick, courageous and seems to have sharp skills, not necessarily penetrating though.

What I like about him is his maturity and leadership. For a small guy he has a certain presence about him.

Surely North or Geelong would pounce on him before #24?

really would of liked to see christensen go at 24 and then bartlett at 26 just to make up for our bad selection rohan b4 hand. but yeh i would rather bartlett over christensen

Interested to know why you would consider Rohan a poor selection at 10? Have you really seen him play regularly or are you basing your opinion on hearsay conjecture and big footy posters?
Gary Rohan is a seriously talented player who would be an exciting addition to any list!

 You obviously consulted your crystal balls before you opened your trap with that statement.

just thought essendon would be better with someone is an inside mid like tapscott or melksham instead of an outside midfielder

I am Melksham's biggest fan (see trial draft) and I would question if he is a genuine inside midfielder. If I wanted to target that sort of player I would have selected Koby Stevens. You havent answered my question regarding Rohan though which makes me think you havent seen him play very often.

ok in answer to your question i did not say that rohan is a bad player at all, i like him alot hes quick and got a good overhead mark. i think he is a poor selection to essendon based on the fact we have many outside midfielders and would be silly not to pick up melkshem who can play both or tapscott once he got an engine could play midfield. Rohan is great when i saw his two games for vic country and when ive watched a couple of tac cup replays. But i dont think essendon need an outside midfielder as we havnt got enough inside midfielders. we all see what happens to essendon when jobe watson is off the ground. Yes im sure he would be good to any players list, but i personally wouldnt use a 1st round pick on an outside mid for the bombers.

Pick 21 – North Melbourne – Matthew Panos (Norwood) – 193cm/85kg

Was a tossup between Travis Coyler and Matthew Panos, with the latter winning out, namely because of the needs of the NM list.

With the sole hopes laying on injury riddled shoulders of Robbie Tarrant, it was necessary to draft Panos at 21, because simply, if he was taken, I don’t fancy anyone after being close to the same KPF prospect.

Panos is a strong bodied, traditional full-forward. At 193cm’s, I see him as being the ideal height for the modern game. Compact enough to cause the now often larger defenders big issues, in terms of speed on the lead, and big enough to go body-on-body with those same size defenders.

He posses’ exceptional hands in the contest, often underrated in some parts, and is definitely one of the better contested marks in the pool. Coupled with some very good football smarts, its no wonder he did so well in this years championships.

Some say he is one-dimensional, So what?
Fans often try to find the next Wayne Carey/Michael Voss/Dean Cox super athlete in every young player they go and watch. Panos is very effective at what he does, and that’s kicking goals, which saw him the AA full-forward for 2009
Averaging close to 3 goals a game for the championships, he has been in equally exceptional form for Norwood. On top of his marking skills, and nous, he is close to the best shot for goal in the pool. He has good second efforts, keeps his feet, and is clean below the knees for a guy his size.

By taking Cunnington at #5, the major gaping hole was that of the forward line, I wasn’t willing to risk missing out on the last, genuine KPF prospect.

Players like: Matthew Lloyd/John Anthony
