Doesn't Browne put pressure on the senior players to perform too?

A little from column A, a little from column B...

Everyone who is tall should be a must get...

No more two for one deals.

I'll be furious if we give up our second pick for Spangher.

l am not quite sure what your expectation is in this draft but the reality is that it is not overly strong and anything after the first round is not going to be of the quality of prior years, hence why clubs will be much more open minded this year on trading for the right player.

Browne probably at this point looks like a spare parts fringe player and if the right deal is there e.g Mckinley, Sprangher, he may very well be part of a trade, our objective should be to improve our list then surely we need to look at all the options as we have some way to go yet to be a top 4 side.
Even a trade Fisher for McGuire probably a win-win for both clubs, either club would have a high expectation not saying it will happen but probably a fair outcome for both parties.

Wherewill Maguire play at Carlton?

Maguiure isn't a forward's ******

Waite, Bower, Jamison and Thornton are now better backman.

Your mind is stuck in 2004 or 2005 if you think Maguire is going to be a gun defender again.

St Kilda would rather keep one of their favourite sons as insurance for Hudghton's retirement.

He can play as a defender and take the bigger body forwards our defence struggles with. He doesn't have to reach the heights of 2004 or 2005, just be able to do lock down jobs, which allows Waite to play forward or further up the ground.

At the same time it gives our younger players some time to develop without the pressure of taking the big forwards.

Given that neither of these blokes can get a regular senior game at Carlton & St.Kilda, I could actually see a straight swap happening here.

Fisher offers the Saints very little. With Kosi and Saint Nick, I can't see Brad ever getting a game for them. We'd be looking at a 4th round pick for Goose if he's not in their plans for next year.

Steven Browne is very much a required player. He and AJ are two smalls being groomed to replace Scotland and Stevens.

If WCE want him or Yarran, let them offer US a good deal for a change! Browne + Yarran >>>>>>>>>> McKinley and Spangher.

If any of our interstate recruits wanted out, and if this is a 'weak draft' I'd rather we fielded offers for pick 25 or earlier than pick up surplus players such as Maguire, Hall, McKinley, Robertson and Spangher. Sure we don't want to lose anyone but there's no guarantee 'topping up' and being stuck with pick 63 would improve our ladder situation either.

What we have in abundance at Carlton is these running half backs that we simply cannot fit into our best 22. Guys like Browne, Grigg, Scotland, Russell, Johnson, Anderson and even Walker would into this catergory. What I believe we need to move forward is some bigger bodies, and even though I have said before that our "lack of talls" is a myth, which I still think is correct, what we need are some real bigger bodies, who can play at either end of ground. Look how exposed we were without Jamison, and to a lesser extent Waite. Even Carlos would have been handy against Brisbane.

I'm not so concerned down back, but up forward is where we need to improve. With Warnock coming into the team, should release Kreuzer to play further up the ground.

If he was that good, why would they let him go?

And why can't he get a game ahead of Dawson?

I don't rate Dawson...

Maguire is undersized and injury prone.

Isn't worth a second rounder.

And they won't let him go for a third rounder or Fisher.

Hudghton is 33.

Another young KPP in Jarryd Allen has retired due to injury.

They'll need him as insurance as I keep saying to you...

If the Saints are after Fisher, that might tell you a bit about Maguire as well.

What is the fascination with talls from other clubs being better than the ones we have coming through?

That's a good deal?

Yarran and Browne for McKinley and Spangher is Ed Norton getting slammed in the showers in American History X.

Robbo's definitely still got something to offer.

Why wouldn't we take the chance if he is cheap?

We could possibly make the top 4 next year, an extra 20-30 goals wouldn't hurt.

My heart agrees with this.

I have always liked Robbo, probably my favourite non-blue player! I know that he grew up barracking for the blues (not that that means he will be a good player) and he wants to come to the blues, said so a couple of weeks ago on before the game.

I suppose I want him to come more for the sentimental factor then anything as is one of my favourite players!

Whether it is the best thing for carlton I am not sure, I'm sure Ratts and the recruiters will have a look. But concerned he might be a little old.

Give him a go Ratts if he comes cheap!

I wish Robbo was up to it. I'd invite him to do a pre-season with Carlton. The understanding of course is that he has to impress to get an opportunity.

I don't see what Robbo can offer, other than filling Fisher's role of being the guy to get in Fev's way.

Did well to come back this year the way he did, but if Sydney aren't interested, I don't see why we would be.

A Brisbane supporter I work with just received a message from his brother saying that Hadley is going back to Brisbane. I hope there is no truth to this rumour as I really liked Hadley’s last few games for us.

Yeah there's a thread on the lions forum about this, and there's a link to an article about it too, it seems so strange that he would wanna go back there, he was really finding his feet in the last few games, I wonder what we could get in return

Don't know if it's that strange, Hadley didn't seem to get much of a go this year, seemed to get dropped pretty quick by the MC after having played only one bad game and really struggled to get back in

Seemed to go really well when up and running, so disappointing that probably wasn't given the greatest of chances.

Hope he stays

Watching the VFL yesterday, was really impressed with Cameron Pedersen from Box Hill.

Moves well, is about 22-23, 193cm, leads well, takes a clean grab, very accurate kick for goal.

Few clubs have expressed interest also. Would hope he's available with the pick we get for Fisher.
