2010 AFL Grand Final St Kilda vs Collingwood 25/9/2010

When Ben McEvoy makes an AA team, they'll be eating their words. McEvoy has not played either game against Collingwood this year - he's been dropped for both (for King in Round 3 and for Kosi (Pattison retained his spot) in Round 16). He did play in Round 7 last year, though (as a late inclusion for Robert Eddy).

Ben seems to be reasonably good at appearing in the right place at the right time, and his general football ability makes him a lot more useful around the ground than many dedicated Ruckmen we have had in the past.

I would take Eddy and McEvoy ahead of Blair and Brown any day.

McEvoy and Brown will both probably end up All-Australians, but McEvoy's form this year is massively underrated and his potential to become the greatest ruckman of this era is continuously overlooked. The guy will be a champ. Hopefully this weekend is the prologue to such a career.

Haha, let's not put too much expectation on the kids shoulders!

Premiership ruckman at the age of 20 would be a good start to his career though...

he does doesnt he.

do you think this is because of natural ability or the fact he's following gardi who also appears in the right place at the right time?

its just their placement seems quite similar sometimes.

Looked simple, but good to see he didn't panic, saw the opportunity, and just executed as easy as you like. High pressure stakes but he made it look as cool as anything. Good stuff.

I saw footage of our training in a story run by fox sports news... showed Kingy, one of our assistants and Macca working together... Kingy was showing Macca about positioning and body work it looked like... He will be a great asset for macca and Rhys to develop.

WTF!!!!!! who is going to back up in the ruck!?!?!? BLAKE???

Can't believe McEvoy was dropped. Feel sorry for the young man.

As for a backup ruckman, I don't know. Kosi? Blake?

Baffling, but Ross knows best. Maybe a late change on the cards... but that'd be cruel.

Can't believe Neon Leon got a gig, but I guess his pressure is alright.

I really like this ...is he a Collingwood supporter?

Eddy, McEvoy, Dempster, Blake, Peake, Ray and Dawson are no good.

Blair, Brown, Goldsack, Macaffer, Toovey, Dawes, Johnson and Reid are all stars? wtf

Surely that's not really going to happen... otherwise we have just let collingwood get one up on us already, we've made that change to accomodate Leigh Brown FFS??? While Blake is pretty capable back up ruckman and he has spent less time in our backline in recent weeks.... Stick to what got us here yer? Don't change shit now.

The ****?

McEvoy will surely play, I think Rossy is pulling some smoke and mirrors behind the curtains as Travis Cloke would so eloquently put it.

Glad to see Bakes in, the man was born to play grand finals. No surprises seeing Presti and Davis in either.

Gardy pulls his hammy and that's it, lights out. We can't let Leigh Brown go loose either.

Frick on a stick, don't do this. Surely they understand that's the worst change they can make?

Glad to see Baker in, but shit.... shit shit shit...

Davis in is a great boost for us.

Kosi will be back up, Garidner to FF when that happens.

I believe this was chosen in an effort to "go small" against Collingwoods smaller bridgade since their backup ruckman is Leeroy Brown, of interest however is that they've effectively dropped 2 tall backmen over the past couple weeks, and while Presti is a stalwart in defense, he hasn't been in the side a hell of a lot recently so they might not be as instinctive if we geta run on (similar to the Cats 1st quarter) conversely we have a similar problem with Baker in, however arguably our backmen are more capable on 1v1 given the opposition.

I actually think it's the right call to drop a tall, not sure on Macca though but then who else?

Wow...suprised to say the least....Gone smaller to say the least if the team stays like this, Kosi Rucking or Blake after Gardner?

Guess who they dropped besides having Dal Santo as an injury in H&A season. McEvoy.

I hope they don't repeat that mistake. Really Really hope that McEvoy plays and stretches the Magpie defense up forward.
