Re: Josh Drummond

+1

And with Broughton/Grimes as cover i don't really need to worry about trading out Drummond

+2

Hope he comes back at some stage, could be one of the players to get me home in my upcoming finals.

You'd think with the Lions a strong chance of playing finals they will try to get him right for the back end of the season.

Re: Josh Drummond

If I had him I would be a little nervous ... not because he will lose value, he is a keeper so who cares ... i would worry about his injury history ... he has already played his quota of half a season for 2009.

For those who might recruit him, he will hit a low 2 weeks after he returns (whenever that is) but will he be worth the risk?

2010 Player Discussion.

Not much action happening on the SC board at the moment so I thought I would try get the ball rolling.

Give a view on a player and then name your own player to be discussed... I'll start it off.

Rhys Palmer.

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Palmer - more of a DT player than SC. Gets the ball no problem but does not use it well. I know he will be working hard on improving this over the pre-season but I will not be picking him in my side until he proves to me that he can hit targets more regularly.
Trent Cotchin

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Nice thread:thumbsu:

Cotchin - Needs a full pre-season before I would look at him, had a serious injury and it might never fully go away. But if fit he's certainly one to look at, a high draft pick so you'd think he would score well.

Palmer - Even though he's more suited to DT I will still strongly consider him if he's right to go, only because he will have a nice discount.

What about Mitch Morton from Richmond?

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Agree re Morton inconsistent. Mayne almost a lock in for me. Looks the goods & as Jobe said 3rd year coming up.
Thoughts on David Myers

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

I've heard Mayne's name been thrown up a lot for next year - I havent seen much of him, but the times I did see him he didn't really look that great to me.

What about Richie Tambling?

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Not sure. Will he be right for Rd1? Does have potential being a high draft pick, I think it really depends what role he plays...defensive, rebounder or maybe more midfield time.

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Beau Waters- Think WCE will be very careful with him. Has had a few complications with his elbow injury. He gets injured often mainly because of the way he plays. Would probably pass on him.
Josh Hunt?

Josh Hunt?
Josh Hunt - if he has a strong pre-season then He should be in just about everyone's team. He's average between 2004-2008 is 81, 89, 95, 81 & 78. With the expected retirements (or even players becomming older) like Milburn & Harley - I expect Josh will see more of the ball. Plus if Geelong's hunger isn't there next year after their second flag expect the ball to be in Geelong's backline more often.

What About Andrew Walker??

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Andrew Walker - good value for sure but will his shoulders stand up and where will he be...maybe trade bait to another club. Poor kicking will hurt his stats. Still, having said that, I have him down as a strong contender for a spot.

Brock Mclean?

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Josh Hunt - only under consideration due to expectant cheap value. Will watch pre-season closely and is on most people's shortlist.

Brock Mclean?

As a Carlton fan I wouldn't be picking Brock up - he will have a lot of competition in our midfield.

Andrew Walker

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Brent Staker - Talk that he maybe heading up to Brisbane in a deal involving Dalziell going back to his home town. No matter where he goes I wouldn't get him. Past the point where a 'breakout' season is looming and his numbers dropped this year from last.

Richard Tambling?

Wouldnt touch him despite his good year. Will be fairly priced with maybe a little upside. If he does show above normal form, he would be an easy tag candidate and shut out of a game! I personally don't like guys who cant get their own ball in SC but may have to change. Dal, wunderlunch, Kade and Montagna are the new breed of soft outside downhill skiers that are on the rise in our SC game.

In my eyes a very double edged sword, towards the end of this season he again showed his potential as a rebound defender, escaped the tag he attracted at the end of 08. I think if he continues to not get tagged at half back he could be within the top 5 scoring backs, but if tagged once again he could have scores of <50 on a regular basis.

Bradd Dalziell (if still at brisbane, and if traded to a perth club)

Dal Santo lead St Kilda for contested footy this year and Montagna lead them for tackles. Hardly soft footy players.

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Dalziell- DT player. Gets the ball but kicking is a worry.
H Shaw - Consider, only concern is when a forward is given the task of tagging him he struggles.
Dal Santo- quality player but another who does not handle a tag well.Prefer Hayes or Montagna from the saints.
Thoughts on Travis Boak?

Boak is an intresting one. IMO Port will struggle next year, possibly finishing bottom 4.

Also, with Shaun Burgoyne leaving and Salopek seemingly on the outer Boak could almost find himself copping the number one opposition tagger

Having said that he is definately one to watch over the pre-season.

Colin Sylvia.

Re: 2010 Player Discussion.

Didn't rate Sylvia until his 2nd half of the season. Certainly worthy of consideration. Would have him as a forward not a mid though with many other quality options.
