It's worrying when they don't have a single player in the Metro team, and still keep losing. Shows how far behind everybody else they really are.

This is by far the worst the Jets have ever been. In a finals series where 12 of 13 teams make it, the poor old Jets appear odds on favourites to be the one side who misses out.

They dont call it unlucky 13 for nothing - hopefully the boys can get a win on the board, it would be a shame for them to finish on the bottom

Does anyone else think its about time for a change at the jets???

Blokes slug their guts out over summer, do the right things, and just get cut like ' that '

So they bring ring-ins in from Sandy and calder...time for a changing of the guard

Names Rodriguez? who has put in the hard yards in over summer and been cut??? Who deserves a spot and whose spot should they take? PLenty of boys have had there chances.... maybe there just isnt the depth this year that is required to be a top TAC cup team.

Does anyone else in the know feel that players particularly from the Jets tend to be complacent? As in happy just to have made a TAC cup list? I've noticed through knowing guys from several TAC regions that the Jets boys seem happiest to hang their hat on being a Jet, more happy to paste it on their facebooks than commit on the job at hand. Sure its an achievement to be on the list but how many see it as their actual club and are not just happy wear the shorts and hoodies around. I just wonder if many of the Jets boys are hurting at the moment. Of course some are - your Casleys, Conways and Morris' etc., but is that desire there? Sounds harsh but could have something to do with the boys going through the motions at training and in games. Peoples thoughts? I'd love to be corrected if wrong.

Also, footyman your avatar...woof!

Bachar, not sure if I'm in the know, but I think that may be the case (just being a jet) with some of the lads, but I wouldn't apply that across the list. From what I can gather a few of the boys probably don't go as hard at training as they should, rather they try to impress the coaching staff. Some guys are really putting in at training, whilst others are happy to jump in the rehab group and minimise time on the track (although that's not new).

One of the big problems I believe is actual game day, too many players trying to impress the coach and recruiters (that's if they're still watching anyone from the jets). Nowhere near enough team stuff, more of a case of look at me and this is what I can do, I'm not here for my teammates.

I could be wrong and hopefully I am.

Appreciate other thoughts on this.

There is no "Club" attitude when it comes to the jets... Unless you play everygame with the Jets, then you can not consider them your "Club", as every player has a club that they have grown up with.
With the Jets coacing staff moving around the team like no tomorrow, then there can not possibly be a club atmosphere around the training track or on game day. six players have played 10 games (and honestly they are not high qaulity players, though Mead and Kennedy in my eyes are). two have played 9, three have played 8, four have played 7 and then there is a huge number of 4/5/6 gamers... How can a team suceed, if they are not a team???
I think the only way the Jets can have any chance of winning a game, is for the coaching staff to build faith in a group of 27/30 players at the most, and make them players feel the Jets is there club...
And im not saying cut the Jets list to that many players, but realisictly the Jets should not have played the 45 odd players that have allready recieved a game this year....
With 40+ players getting in a game in the first half of a year, how can anyone expect a TEAM of 22 to run out and play a good solid brand of football, if the team consists of players who feel there club is their local club (the team who will ALLways give them a crack)!

Being listed and presented with a jumper is an honour and an achievement. But it signifies the beginning of the hard work - not the end of it.

If I was a member of this year's group I don't think I'd be swanning around in a hoodie and bragging too much about being at the Jets, you only earn the right to brag when your club wins games and when you play a meaningful part in that. There's not much to be proud about representing a club who hold up the bottom of the ladder.

I wouldn't know whether this year's group are hurting or not, but they should be. Clearly on the field they are playing like a group who are going through the motions. Which can happen when you cop loss after loss after loss.

The challenge for the Jets staff is to reignite the passion in those guys over the three week break, and get them back to gain some respect in the last 8 weeks of the season.

Calder built a really solid foundation about ten years ago of principles which that club stands for. And they've carried them through and built on them over that time. What do the Jets stand for? To me it resembles more a place people just go to play their footy, as opposed to a club which people genuinely care about and have a hunger to play for. Which, to be blunt, even as an outsider really pisses me off.

Guys from Calder look back at their time there proudly, I often think that guys from the Jets tend to want to wipe it from their memory. That's the challenge for the Jets admin going forward. Whether Shane Sexton's the man capable of changing the culture down there I'm not sure, but he needs to try and try fairly quickly.

here here, Sexton needs 2go is the prob at the jets

A big problem this year was the retained over-age players. I think only 2 of the 5 have taken advantage of this extra chance, and one has been unlucky again with injury. The other 2......
It's got me beat why players that must have been close to going in the draft weren't retained. Tinge, Hartigan and Rayner were obvious ones for me. Maybe there is a reason, but I don't know. As it is, a couple of these kids are the most unprofessional at the club, turning up after Christmas with poor fittnes, being semi-permanent fixtures in the re-hab group, and coasting through training because they know they will be selected.
Professional attitude needs to be a big pre-requisite for next years crop. My top 3 are Huxtable, who had an infection during pre-season and lost 7 kg, Casley, who missed games at an important part of the season with a hammy, and Kennedy who stills needs to put some weight on. They all have a great attitude and are all leaders. They thoroughly deserve another chance at this level, and the Jets will be a better team for them staying.

Absurd if true:confused:
It is absurd, he knows little about the clubs internally and should let the clubs have more control. Only 19 year olds with Anton's approval can play, and he rejected some of the players the Jets wanted.

There is no set criteria which is a problem in itself. A bloke who played 22 career TAC Cup games was rejected, yet he approved one at another club who had played in excess of 30 games. There MUST be some concrete criteria drawn up, and perhaps a panel of AFL club scouts/recruiting managers who decide who they want to see play again.

If Anton Grbac did choose the 19 year olds for the Jets this season he should be sacked as he has certainly done them no favours.

Have been informed by a famous werribee football personality that the jets will make a golden duck this season...0
Didnt take long for him to be proven wrong!

Well done to the Jets, they have copped a fair bit of criticism this year, but today they deserve to bask in some glory. Hopefully the players enjoy the win and can use it to build something in the second half of the season.
