Dal Santo a chance?

Think Dal Santo is an outside chance, but just can't see how he will poll more votes than Judd, Goodes, and my tip, D Swan

Would love to see Juddy get his 3rd, but I think the umps will be expecting more of him this year because he won it last year - so immediately, the standard for Judd is set even higher.

I wouldn't discount Kelly at Geelong.

They won enough games to get loads of votes and he was probably the standout for long periods of time in what is a different role for him. Might just win a few votes.

Favourites rarely win. Sorry Juddy.

Firmly on the Murphy bandwagon.

Judd only has the two genuine BOG chances in the first 14 rounds. Sydney, certainty, Melbourne will be a toss up between him and Murphy.

Judd winning or not will come down to how the umps vote in the thrashings. Rounds 1, 2 and 12, Judd will be thereabouts but is no certainty for the one, let alone the three. If he can poll 4-6 votes in these games, plus 3+3 in the other two, he's a genuine chance to win it.

Between rounds 15-21, put Judd down for 11-14 votes. Arguably BOG vs Richmond, our best in the Collingwood loss, BOG vs Essendon, Melbourne and Fremantle. Won't poll in the last 2 games.

Based on that, think he'll poll between 20-26 votes. Will be a ways back after 14 rounds but that 7 week period of domination means he's a very good chance.

Most of Judd's best games were in our wins, whereas Murphy put in some excellent performances in losses. How far he goes depends on how the umps judge him in those games. Essendon draw, Geelong loss, WC loss, Bulldogs loss, Hawthorn loss, Murphy was amongst our best.

In our wins, I think Murphy will poll 18-21 votes. He's fortunate that most of our losses were close, though I can't see him getting more than 3-6 votes in those games.

Estimates:
Chris Judd: 20-26
Marc Murphy: 21-27

That said, I probably expect Judd to finish towards the upper limit, whereas Murphy closer to 21. If I had to put exact guesses, Judd 24, Murphy 22.

Must remember swan's 1st 5 weeks & last 10 weeks. You would be hard pressed to not give him 2-3 votes in those games. He was absolutely on fire.

For mine, I still think that Juddy will get over the line. He had a much better year this year than last year, and in games when we didnt think he would poll he did. When he has a standout game its 3 votes no question.

Love to see our Juddy win it, he was blistering the middle part of the season..Pendlebury would have secured votes while Swann was out, Goodes was quiet earlier in the year, Murphy a chance and as someone else mentioned Kelly and Morris.

Nothing will beat last year, all those votes in a row, what a HOOT

I think it is funny that Goodes, Swan and even Pendles (to an extent) have closed in on Judd in the last month.

There have been no votes given for finals people!

Judds’ form up until the finals, bar the last ?2 rounds was spot on. Dominated early, all being fair he poles more votes than last year and takes home number three.

Disagree. Judd's first 5/6 weeks last year was his best period whilst at Carlton and is why he won the medal. Absolutely dominated.

I have $20 on Pendles at 18's from the start of the season. I also think the umps will avoid Juddy after last year so I think Pendles will get wnough votes. He has had a far better year than last year when he was up there and swan has had a downer for a large part of the year. Murphy just tailed away so will end up a few votes short.

Goodes or Dal Santo. Both sides won enough games to make the finals, yet they shouldn't have too many teammates taking votes from them. It's hard to see St Kilda's only other AA player in Milne taking votes from Dal Santo.

I put a $30 wager on Pendles at 10-1 after round 17 and right now he is $6 on TAB sportsbet and there has been a heap of money for him in the last few days.

Also Murph got a small wager from me as he is my favourite player and $20 at 15-1 seemed to good to be true so i took it!.

I want Murph to win it deep down as i like him so much but gee Juddy winning a third would be great for us and he has had a great season and would be a deserving winner.

Of course it is, because the umpire's aren't privy to that information anymore than you or I are.

It is plausible that the umps, based on how they gave the votes, think that Judd is the likely winner however. Not sure how well looked upon divulging that opinion to passersby would be, however.
