chad wingard did well in the middle for sa in the champs last year, already playing good league footy in the seniors for sturt and in the advertiser was refered to as a very likely top 5 pick. midfielder.

is emmanuel irra eligible for this draft? already playing senior footy as well and looks pretty good too, from the little ive seen has a good kick for a kid who hasnt been playing long. could be a good draft for sa boys, i remember hender looking pretty good last champs so will be good to see him again, anyone know where he is playing now? hombsh has already gone to gws.

Why GWS passed on signing Shane Kersten and Todd Elton as 17 year olds I'll never understand!

I am guessing height - at 190cm doesn't fit the forward height that everyone is looking for of +195cm. And yes I know that might not be an important to success or otherwise in the AFL (Was debated for sometime about Darling last year) - ALL it means is that it puts recruiters off.....

Is he playing seniors??

I remember seeing him play at an u15 SANFL championships. Didn't think that was too long ago..

edit- was 2008. Was a while ago so him playing seniors does make sense now haha.

Irra is eligible this year.

Re another SA lad word is Jimmi Savage has quit the GWS side. Wonder if he goes back into the talent pool for this years draft.

Ps I think Hannath has also gone to GWS hasnt he?

Was he one of their 12x 17yo kids? If so, then GWS will retain the rights to him for 2 years - and he will probably be traded away during trade week.

Yes and playing well. He's got electric pace very good hands, a penetrating kick and a good goal sense. I would love for the Crows draft him.

Big call to have him above those two RE.

As long as he can get over his foot problems, very similar to Michael Gardiner foot injury.

He is a very natural ruck talent his ruck tapping is elite, and when not injured covers the ground very well.

Reminds me of Dean Cox at times.

Hasn't had a preseason this year but still plays well, very classy big guy.

gws had picks in last years rookie draft, jimmy savage was taken in that and was 19 at the time. was in the norwood side. hard to see him getting anything other than a rookie spot list at an sa club at best. im not sure why he left gws but i hope he gets back to norwood and gets back into the league side.

jack hannath was draft eligible a year or 2 ago.

wow irra is eligible, he looks exciting.im assuming african born lad from what ive heard has been playing for only 4 years and doesnt look it one bit. opens his stride and covers ground and can really kick the ball! im not sure what level he can reach as ive only seen him play one game but as a kid playing seniors he must be doin alright.

chad wingard is currently out of sturts senior side with an ankle injury. was no mention of its seriousness so i suspect its something very minor.

anyone know of any other sa prospects other than irra and wingard??

lewis hender sounded promising at the last champs as a forward. will be draft eligible this year but was 185cms at the time, anyone know how he is doing??

im particularly interested in hearing about the key forwards this year and inside ball winning midfielders.

Savage was homesick and you might find Stevens was the same I think I heard.

Irra is Ugandan

Wingard is very exciting, Hender looks good but awkward height.

Jake Mazzone / Mitch Grigg / Luke Wilson / Josh Waldhunter / matthew Appleton / Rhys Sporn and Sam mayes are some of the interesting ones from SA who I think are all eligible this year. Guys like Matt Rankine / Jarrod Schiller / Josh Schiller I think are 19yo's from memory who would be in the mix.

thanks snoop, i know hender was 185 last champs has he grown at all??
is he just a forward or can he play up the ground, which local team is he in??

ive heard waldhuter is quite good but dont know anything about him?? was he eligible for gws? i cant remember if they took him ( they took hombsh and another sa lad i forget who??). what kind of player is waldhuter anyone know his height??

sa had a very good team last year especially of talls, and i remember a couple of decent underage talls so i hope we have a good team this year

Probably thinking of Sam Darley.

Most of the good SA talls last year were either taken (Day / Gorringe / Lycett) in last draft or didnt make it (eg Solly). Few playing in the Reserves at SANFL level who are eligible so will be good to see them in their age group.

Waldhunter is a tall mid type but could play down back as well. One I am keen on bc he impressed last year but didnt get the wraps bc of the profile of the above and Polec etc.

Reality is we wait till champs and see how they measure up against each other.

Ps Forgot Sam Tonkes from Port.

thanks snoop, when do the champs start?? fair while isnt it??

i honestly think that wingard has to be top 3 from what ive heard. every sa lad that has been that good and brought that form into league has gone pick1-6
