Will be interesting to see what sort of numbers we'll get in the week of a bye, after a big loss, with a Perth trip coming up in two weeks time. This week and the next will really tell us a story...

So will every week between now and cut-off time. We've got a horror first month but a good run of Melbourne games against opposition that should be in our league after that, so there will be value there. Not sure the club can do much more off-field, onfield will have a much bigger impact from now on. Oh, and it won't hurt if we can all help make game atmosphere something people want to be part of.

Hi all.

Just thought I'd let you know that today I received a written letter reply from the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty, in regards to the redevelopment of Eureka stadium.

Nothing new really but he said that the only commitment they are making at this stage was to sink 1 million into the venue for upgrades that benefit the local Ballarat community and North Ballarat football Club.

He said they were not planning to upgrade the stadium for AFL, as that was a commitment made by the previous government.

It looks like it will be long hard road before this happens.

Thats okay, while being invisible and having no policies gets a liberal party into government, it rarely keeps them there very long.

We just need to focus on the federal government support and/or look to use it as a bargaining chip during the next election given it is one marginal federal seat and two marginal state seats, it will come into play more towards an election year.

Ballarat is a long-term project for us, this is just a minor setback in the grand scheme of things.

Looks like we have sealed a 3 year extension on the criticality of Ballarat.

Hobart will make the delay much more tolerable in terms of finances.
If Hobart was not happening and with Ballarat the stall, come the end of the current government term and we could very well have been limping.

When the time comes transition will need to be handled very carefully. The one thing that we do not want to see is the AFL come to the Ballarat party and then give options to other clubs. (sky is not falling just putting an opinion out there.)

excellent and accurate political synopsis: lever some money out of the federal government and victoria will follow; in the ultimate, AFl games give a provincial city access to a national broadcast market, and a victorian state goverment (of any complexion) can do nothing like that in terms of regional development; it will happen

Its sad to say this but when we arrive as a group and take a big scalp on a big stage our membership will go through the roof.

Hobart and Ballarat push will also enables us to grow. We just need to stand up and start being an intimidating force again.

I agree J7. Imagine that Friday night win against Carlton was in round 1 or 2 last year....

29 in one day? :(

"other than the cheer squad, in what's now known as the 'North End', this season that number his well over 1,000. And with 8,000 un-renewed members, it could go even higher. "

Taken from the North Website. Staggering.

8k unrenewed members is staggering in deed. After such a promising season.
When we finally win a game or two, perhaps up to half of them will jump on board, one hopes.

A good start to the season and a marquee player would be handy.

Competitive against Fremantle will help and then plug the hell out of the next couple of true home games. We still have 10 home games to sell so really should be able to pick up some more on game days.
