Ironic we can't get anyone in, when we have so much bloody cash to throw around. Pearce, Chaplin, Jacobs all leaving. No more contracts to pay for McCarthy :(, Rodan, Surjan, Salopek. We should be rolling in money to offer potential recruits. Instead, Cameron Hitchcock, Tom Logan and Nick Salter are going to have very healthy paychecks.

until FA picks are given out i think everyone who is half decent is sitting tight, and their managers are telling them to do so
weekend and next week will be busier

So as I count them - pre any last minute Jacobs trade - its 7 off the main list and 5 on. IIRC the rule used to be we had to have a minimum of 3 "live" selections in the ND (inclusive of the Jonas upgrade).

Are we required to have 4 on the rookie list ? If so we'd need to save 3 of our 6 picks for the RD and effectively upgrade Jonas at #31 - unless we delist one or two more (Pfeiffer? Salter?) who would be a little unlucky all things considered.

And it probably means we expect to trade Jacobs or see him jump into the ND rather than have a last minute change of heart. Signal to North and other "bidders" I guess.

Heartless kind of game this trading & list management, innit ?

As it sits now we'll have 4 senior spots available - 3 ND picks + 1 PSD and 2 rookie spots available.

If Jacobs has an unlikely change of heart, I get the feeling that Salter will make way and be delisted, otherwise Salter will stay so whatever Ben decides to do should have no impact on our list spots.

Our list on as per PAFC.com

Ah Chee, Brendon
Blee, Nathan
Boak, Travis
Broadbent, Matthew
Butcher, John
Carlile, Alipate
Cassisi, Domenic
Cornes, Kane
Ebert, Bradley
Ebert, Brett

Gray, Robbie
Hartlett, Hamish
Heath, Campbell
Hitchcock, Cameron
Hombsch, Jack
Jacobs, Ben
Jonas, Thomas
Lobbe, Matthew
Logan, Tom
McCarthy, John

Monfries, Angus
Moore, Andrew
Neade, Jake
Newton, Ben
O'Shea, Cameron
Pfeiffer, Darren
Pittard, Jasper
Redden, Jarrad
Renouf, Brent
Salopek, Steven

Salter, Nick
Schulz, Jay
Stevenson, Lewis
Stewart, Daniel
Stewart, Paul
Thomas, Matt
Trengove, Jackson
Westhoff, Justin
Wingard, Chad
Young, Aaron

That's 40 players

I'm assuming Cassisi & Cornes are on the Vets list

I'm assuming Jonas (has been confirmed) & Pfeiffer are upgraded rookies

McCarthy :( to be delisted

That leaves 2 more players to be removed if we are to use draft picks 7, 30 & 31

Obviously Salopek will be delisted

There's one more player to be removed.

Will that be Jacobs, or do we delist someone else?

Who else is not yet contracted for 2013 & beyond?

Or is Pfeiffer left as a rookie?

End result (I'm guessing) --------

Jacobs, McCarthy & Salopek delisted. Pfeiffer left as a rookie

We have National Draft picks 7, 30 & 31

Pre-Season Draft pick 5 (or maybe earlier?)

Rookie Draft picks 5 & 23

This justifies not accepting anything for Jacobs that was not a better draft pick than number 31.

Slattery and Jolly will be here in 2013.

So put them in your calculations.

Reckon #darren stays on the Rookie List.

So we could have had pick 38 and we have Henry Slattery instead? ****ing brilliant.

I'm gonna have to hope the same guy who told you Surjan is re-signing told you that.

Rohde always has to have his one Jay Nash, doesn't he.

Also heard that Salter has been given a one year deal*. That makes me happy.

Doesn't mean he's starting. Lets see how he goes, new club, fresh start etc etc.

I'm excited to see Jolly.

No, let's not. He's been on an AFL list for almost a decade and he's shown absolutely nothing except that he can kick the ball to the opposition and get torn a new one by opposition small forwards every week. There is no way in hell Henry Slattery should be on any AFL list next year, and there is doubly no way in hell he should be on the AFL list of a club that just delisted Jacob Surjan.

Rohde always has to have his one Jay Nash, doesn't he.

We'd be better off re-drafting Jay Nash.

I dont see where we fit Jolly and Slattery in.

"North didn't over-promise at the start," Connors said.

"I understand Port Adelaide's view, they couldn't use 38, they think they're going to the draft with three picks and a pre-season pick."

Perhaps one of them as a rookie?

Pfeiffer staying on as a rookie

Trade Wrap

On the back of five player signings today, the club today also confirmed that Darren Pfeiffer will remain on the Power’s rookie list for the 2013 season.

Pfeiffer was the Power’s nominated rookie in 2012 and polled a Brownlow vote midway through the season.

“He’ll be signed on as a second year rookie,” said Rohde.

“He was on the rookie this year although he was a nominated rookie.”
