Melbourne would have wanted him just as bad, 3 and 13 would have been the cost, and they were happy to do that. It's a shame, to think if they had to use 4 on viney, Hogan might be in blue maroon and gold.

As always, a great look into the mind of Kerr and the on goings of the club during trade week. Good to see not one reference to Post, looks like another UTG special.
Rob Kerr said:With respect to Luke Delaney, our Pro Scout had identified Luke as a developing key defender who could hold down a key post for several years.
Now I understand the delay. It would have taken Rob a week to read ~4300 posts. This article answers pretty much every question and criticism from the Brisbane board from the last few months.
Wonder if Ronaldo's name was thrown as the 12 best forwards in the world. What would it cost us to make an offer? John what do you reckon, or have you your eye on another?Rob Kerr said:
With respect to the key forward, it is a fact that quality key forwards are rare beasts. As one of our recruiters outlined, there are about 12 genuinely good ones in the world, and the rest are either hopefuls developing or are not going to make it. To test this theory, supporters should list the number of quality key forwards in the AFL
Hrmmm...:
Don't forget the Dees - using picks they only had because they tanked.that was an awesome read and it makes me hate gold coast even more, only if they had bid for viney we more than likely would have been able to land hogan, thanks for bringing such a lovely team into the competition AFL
I think we should start referring to these as 'Neeson' trades. He was brought in for his specific skill set in relation to our list.
It appears to me that unlike 2010 and 2011, there is a greater divergence of opinion amongst clubs as to the relative merits of this draft cohort. Some of the selections that have been speculated in the media and online also support that view. Therefore, it may well be that on November 22 there are a few surprises.
At a guess he may be talking about stringer, kennedy, hrovat and jacksch. What do people think Kerr meant by this?
Just that there will be some surprise selections?
Just what it says - there's more disagreement than usual about players among clubs, media and 'online' (sounds like he's been reading BigFooty again). What do people think Kerr meant by this?
Don't forget the Dees - using picks they only had because they tanked.
No why isn't Kerr the coach of the Brisbane Lions footy clubWhy the hell is Kerr not the president of the U.S.?
It's not beyond the realms of possibility that if the AFL comes down hard on Melbourne, they may lose their ability to secure Hogan as he still isn't on their senior list. It wouldn't be a case of organising another trade though, rather he would enter the 2013 draft as he would have if there were no mini-draft. It's an unlikely scenario, and one that I imagine the AFLPA wouldn't be rapt about, but I wouldn't rule it out.
Brilliant write-up though. Loved every bit of it.
75 phone calls. Damn.Rob Kerr said:While the above summary appears quite orderly, I can assure supporters it is not always the way the trade period works. The best demonstration of that is the final Thursday when the Stefan Martin deal still had to be concluded, Jesse White was being considered and we were scrambling to see if Kurt Tippett had in fact become an option for us again. I was involved in 75 phone calls that day with player agents, the AFL and Brisbane officials. It was reminiscent of the Saturday in 2011 when the Mitch Clark trade occurred, and it was the type of day that that can only occur in the trade period.
