And as we've already heard many times, it's a weak draft. Someone will take the punt on him, short of him exposing himself to an on-fire dwarven schoolgirl in the lead up to the ND.

Even if that happens, he'll get picked up by the Saints...

St Kilda could get cold feet if someone sticks a microphone under his snout. Loose lips sink ships.

I'm liking the look of Freeman more and more myself.

I think his burst of speed and grunt around the stoppages will balance perfectly with our new band of slower extractors.
Huge raps on the kid. Every chance he'll be a player. Has good drive to succeed from what I hear.

Intend to agree Demon16 (sorry I think I called you Demon14 in a previous post). I had been favouring Lennon for pick 9, but I have been convinced by looking at the available videos and reading opinion of people who should know, that Freeman would be perfect for us. Sort of a cross between (from my vintage) of Greg Healey and Ricky Jackson (from the 1988 GF side), or more recently of Aaron Davey (in his prime) and Maloney. Either way, I think he would add real grunt and speed to our mids, and complement what is looking like quite a promising ruck division. He and Viney together I think would be quite a site.

In todays Age Emma Quale wrote an article on Zac Jones. Interestingly she mentioned that during the TAC finals the coach had to pull him out of warm up drills out of fear Jones would hurt his teammates. Evidently he is as tough as..... No bruise free football for Zac just like his brother. He can play mid as well as back. Defensively very good and hates his opponent getting a touch. Given todays emphasis on tough defensive footy I think he may go earlier than expected.
I would not be adverse to the Dees picking him at 9. We need a real hardnut small/medium at half back who can rotate through the midfield after some development.

Not having a go at you but anything Sam "buzz word" Landsberger says I'll take with a shovel of salt.

yeah that's cool, I was just posting for conversations sake.

how about Emma Quayle, better cred? those two tweets have a common theme.

Depending on what StK/Dogs decide theres a slim chance both Aish & Scharenberg could go 6-10. Would be amazed. Strange things happen though.

I'd take Banfield, definitely rate him. Is a bit like Blease or Kent, but a lot harder. If he was delisted we can take him as a delisted FA without needing the PSD. Don't think anything is going to happen with PSD #2 tbh.

On Scharenberg, most people here know I rate him. Would be a huge get for us; has plenty of talent and would be ready to go from round 1 next year, which is something we need.

That's why I prefaced it with the disclaimer :D didn't want to seem like I was just snapping at you for the sake of it. And yes, IMO Emma Quayle has more cred; especially after her picking Brodie Grundy to slide last year.

And in terms of Scharenberg. I think Dogs of Suns will take him. Will not make it past 5

Yep agreed. Would suit the needs of both teams and is the best player of his type available. I reckon he'll be one of the best from this draft.

I dunno.

Right now I have it unfolding as such...

1. Boyd
2. Kelly
3. Billings/Aish
4. Aish/Billings
5. KK
6. Bompetelli (Spelling, I know)
7. ???
8. McDonald
9. We're up.

The 3/4 question depends entirely on the Saints' view of their 'needs'. Personally I have Bomptelli (however you spell it) going to the Pies - the potential is rated by many and any player of that sort of frame Collingwood are going to put faith in to turn into a superstar. The interesting one is Brisbane at 7. Scharenberg is probably most likely to go there, but there are others. The loss of Black will be felt and they may look to go to a mid in order to bolster the stocks that have evaporated over the trade period. Alternatively, Scharenberg would replace Docherty.

If he's available at 9, we should take him though. If not, well, all aboard the Freeman train!

It will be ironic if Scharenberg or Aish slide to pick 9. When we had pick 2, must pundits (media guessmen) had us taking Aish, but once we traded it, most had Scharenberg going to GWS.

Should be an interesting draft. Well at least till pick 9 anyway.

Wouldn't mind taking a key defender at pick 40. We got rid of Davis and Sellar so currently we really only have McDonald and Frawley as gorilla's, with Pederson and Garland at a pinch. Surely worth developing one now at least as insurance, especially considering our influx of midfielders. Either that or we pick one up in the PSD. Don't know who's available (I don't really follow the draft), but some food for thought.

so a couple of the most recent phantom drafts going around now have the lions taking Freeman at 7 and the dees taking Salem at 9, what are the thoughts on him?

Just read that one too. it was only changed in the last day. I think everyone is fairly evenly matched from 4-10 so it will really depend a lot on development. We have the luxury of already having Hogan who would of been 1 or 2.

Brisbane are a real mystery, I have no idea who they would be looking at (not that I follow the draft at all). Some have said they need a KPF in McCarthy, but it's hard to know because their list is a mess following the loss of all those kids. Surely they just go best available talent? That could well be Scharenburg.
