Confirmed ITK Drafting King
Guys I would love zac jones as much as anyone but if his name was zac Johnson no one would be mentioning him as a no 9 pick

I still like the look of Freeman - but if Sharenberg does slip through I presume he will be too good to pass.
Either way we are going to be slow in the middle next year.
Blease, Kent and Barry are guys that would help us enormously if they can have a good season.
This is Toumpas v Wines all over again. I love Toump and think he'll be an amazing player; however, comparing their 1st season always makes me think awwwwww
How though? Freeman is 85 kilos he could well be ready from round 1
And scharanberg is a good size as well if I'm not mistaken
This time last year all the unofficial talk (meaning BF forums) was love for Wines and majority wanted him at pick 4. Because Plowman was a slight wild card at 3 the Dees took the best available player rather than who most thought we would take. Then, Wines fit into the Power midfield seamlessly and Toump (coming off a hip injury) struggle with form and confidence all year.
Ok cheers mate well I agree with you I think the upside in freeman outweighs scharanberg, I would love to see us go for him
I dunno.
Right now I have it unfolding as such...
1. Boyd
2. Kelly
3. Billings/Aish
4. Aish/Billings
5. KK
6. Bompetelli (Spelling, I know)
7. ???
8. McDonald
9. We're up.
The 3/4 question depends entirely on the Saints' view of their 'needs'. Personally I have Bomptelli (however you spell it) going to the Pies - the potential is rated by many and any player of that sort of frame Collingwood are going to put faith in to turn into a superstar. The interesting one is Brisbane at 7. Scharenberg is probably most likely to go there, but there are others. The loss of Black will be felt and they may look to go to a mid in order to bolster the stocks that have evaporated over the trade period. Alternatively, Scharenberg would replace Docherty.
If he's available at 9, we should take him though. If not, well, all aboard the Freeman train!
so a couple of the most recent phantom drafts going around now have the lions taking Freeman at 7 and the dees taking Salem at 9, what are the thoughts on him?
Seems like we'll be getting someone decent no matter what happens, downgrading to 9 and getting Tyson is making a lot of sense. It's essentially pick 7 anyway because Boyd is number 1 and North have McDonald at number 8 locked in.

You're forgetting "Neeld walks out on Dees, had to settle for Moneyball Roos"
The HUN reckons Scharenberg would slide due to foot injuries, we've flown him over to Melbourne to have scans apparently.
I don't see how that happens to be honest, a foot stress injury (as reported) isn't exactly a deal-breaker career wise..
We could do without too many more players under injury clouds, though. The HUN reckons Scharenberg would slide due to foot injuries, we've flown him over to Melbourne to have scans apparently.

I don't know much about the 2001 pre-draft discussions (being a child and all) but was Judd really a slide if he was taken at #3?Lets hope it is a Judd/Selwood slide where they play out huge careers
From what I remember he was a shoe-in all year to go 1 and no one was near him until a shoulder issue which wasn't too bad but he hawks over looked him. Being 18 that year I don't really remember much of 2001 thoughWe could do without too many more players under injury clouds, though.

I would take him at 9 with even with his stress injury, it seems we got the AFL commission to run scans on his feet and these reports are available for any team that requests them, wonder if getting the scans were partly us trying to cause some uncertainty around him so he slides. The HUN reckons Scharenberg would slide due to foot injuries, we've flown him over to Melbourne to have scans apparently.

DRAFT DAY: Speed. The Demons need some, and despite handing over pick two as part of the Tyson trade, they should be able to pick from the three quickest players in the top group of draftees. The shame is they gave pick 21 to the Giants; had they kept it, they could possibly have landed Christian Salem or Nathan Freeman, as well as Lewis Taylor, with their first two picks. But when you think about where Tyson would have slotted into an uncompromised draft (maybe around eight), they've effectively handed over picks two and 20 for eight and nine, which isn't bad, as long as Tyson develops. The alternative way of looking at their trade period is that they've backed almost completely out of this draft, preferring to trade in Tyson, Michie and Riley, who won't need multiple summers to get going. Salem and Freeman should be available at nine; if we're splitting hairs, Salem is arguably the sharper kick and Freeman more explosive. It's difficult to predict who will be around at 40, though you'd think the club would keep adding to its midfield or consider a small forward. Hogan would probably have been a top-three pick in this draft, and the club's trading needs to be analysed with that in mind.
I would, but he'll probably only nominate for PSD/RD draft day
