The mid 2nd round was for the combination of Pearce and Chaplin who both signed for 4 years

According to this they got a pick for each of them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_AFL_Draft

If Pearce was four years then that strengthens the argument that St Kilda wouldn't get better than an end of second round pick for NDS.

Minus Monfries.

Monfries was traded so that the Port didn't reduce their compenstation, and because Essendon wouldn't have received any compensation for losing him as they got Goddard.

Ahh I completely forgot he was actually traded. My bad.

I said Renouf couldn't get a game at Hawks or Power, this is due to him being a dud. The ruck stocks aren't great at either clubs, Brisbane have better rucks than both and therefore don't need a spud like Renouf

you have absolutely zero idea of the port list so why comment on it.

as i mentioned, renouf didnt get many games because he had an injury that made him miss pre-season and port have two ruckmen that are very highly rated. lobbes 2nd half to the year kept renouf out of the side. lobbes 2nd half of the year was very very good. just because our rucks are young and up and coming and you dont hear shit all in the media doesnt mean we have shit ruck stocks. it just means you knwo sfa about our ruckstocks.

port received a 2nd round compo pick for each of chaplin and pearce. traded pick 48 for monfries as essondon wouldnt have received any compo after bringing in goddard. chaplin and pearce were both on the youngish side as free agents go and received decent coin. the gap between how they consider a 26yr fa and a 30yr free agent would be massive. my money would be a 3rd round pick for dal even if he got good money on a 2 year contract. no chance to get more years unless they are heavily performance based and then it would be meaningless to the boffins anyway.

Not really it just doesnt have Chaplen and Pearce together. It just has; 2nd round, next to their names. Was definitely 1 pick for the combination

We got a pick for each.

The first (#29) we traded to GWS for Hombsch and Neade
We then used #29 and #30 in the main draft (after the crows lost their pick our selections went up one) to select Clurey and Shaw.

Wouldn't trust wiki

If you traded pick 29 how could use it for a player?

As I said, we had two of our picks bumped up a spot after the Crows got removed from the first 2 rounds..... and St Kilda got their compo for Goddard.

Refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_AFL_Draft:

Take note of our selection 29 and 30 in the draft, both listed as Free Agent selections, and also trade #11 which got us Hombsch/Neade (or just look at how draft picks 28,29,30 are recorded)

Melbourne needs multiple mids and Freo needs a KPF, so what about something like

Hogan for Mzungu and Suban?

Would Melbourne supporters like that deal? It's probably slightly in Freo's favour, but not by much, as both are decent players. Maybe throw in a pick upgrade (our second rounder for your third or something).

What do neutrals think of it?

Melbourne getting destroyed imo. Mzungu and Suban are very solid B graders but I rate Hogan as the best KPF in recent years.

If the two clubs are the two figures in your avatar, Melbourne is the one who is bent over.

Hogan is worth much, much more than Freo would be willing to give up.

Absolutely woeful trade. A typical case of "we will give you 2 ok players for your gun".

If we added Michie and Pick 16, it would still be short of what is needed and unless Hogan demands to leave or we can get hold of pick 1 then we will not get hogan

probably slightly? lol.
We will get multiple mids with our picks rather than trading a guy who hasn't even played a game for us yet and has 2 years on his contract.

What is the likelihood Sydney trade Sam Reid now that they've got Tippett and Franklin? Surely he wouldnt be happy being 3rd in line

Contracted until 2017. Pretty low likelihood, we're expecting him to play in the backline.

They'd basically ask for Barlow + Stephen Hill (and then some) if you wanted Hogan. Hogan is going to be the next star forward of the competition.

I imagine he'll go to CHB; don't think his position is in danger at all.
