why would hawthorn get two picks back with a promising ruckman ?

and why do port pay the heaviest price for the least well performed player amongst those trades?
You dont pay the heaviest price, you drop back a couple of picks a get a yound midfielder who has bee unlucky with injury and maybe if you took out pick 30, it would look more appealing or if hawthorn gave you thier second round pick.

I believe it to be very optimistic to suggest we'll be parting with our first pick for an uncontracted player who wants to join us.

Unfortunately for Brisbane fans, whilst they may believe him to be worth that on the market, his value is diminished somewhat by the above-mentioned factors.

I don't believe for a second that we'll entertain giving up pick 12 as part of the deal.

you have absolutely zero idea of the port list so why comment on it.

as i mentioned, renouf didnt get many games because he had an injury that made him miss pre-season and port have two ruckmen that are very highly rated. lobbes 2nd half to the year kept renouf out of the side. lobbes 2nd half of the year was very very good. just because our rucks are young and up and coming and you dont hear shit all in the media doesnt mean we have shit ruck stocks. it just means you knwo sfa about our ruckstocks.

Renouf sucks dude, he came over with big raps but is 3rd in the pecking order.
Fair enough, Lobbe is a good player but even Redden is ahead of him...He's ports version of Angus Graham.

Pick 4 + Higgins for J.PATTON keeps getting thrown around. Take it Giants, take it!

You're serious?
Patton is more of an unknown now than any top 5 draft pick.
Two knee recons on an undeveloped key forward...Comparisons with Gumbleton wouldnt be far off.
I mean sure hes touted to be a gun, but you're giving up your chance at the 4th best kid (and a gun) to get a total unknown.

It is a risk yes. But sometimes you need to take one. Look at the Blues and taking Menzel in last years draft. As a dogs supporter - I think we are happy either way. If we trade for Patton we will happily give it a go - if we don't and go to the draft we will be happy with that too.

Carlton have put Lucas on the table and are after Savage .....interested in peoples thoughts on value ..?
Savage V Lucas
I'd say they are relatively equal in terms of value on the market today. Savage on ability and Lucas on potential. Lucas was given a good run in our best 22 this year, and didnt show enough (for mine) to warrant a permanent spot. He's got the skills, but lacks the size, aggression and confidence. It may take a change of scenery to fix this, and you guys could use his outside pace.

Statistically, they were relatively equal for the year....Lucas played 17 games, where Savage played 15....and whilst Lucas had a higher disposal rate (particularly by hand), he also had a lower effectiveness, and 1 more clanger per game. If you guys can help him clean this up (which would be mostly confidence based), he could be a good player for you guys. However, the fact that your team relys on effective kicking.....you may not be super keen on bringing him in.

They are both 22, Lucas is slightly taller, but less experienced due to prior injury issues....which he seems to have overcome.

Lucas is a 1st round draft pick....where Savage is a 5th round. Lucas is uncontracted.

For all of these reasons.....they seem relatively equal on paper.

Yeah fair enough, id much rather go to the draft with Pick 4 and Higgins.
I think this year you'd be smart to get as many picks as possible and load up with kids, maybe make a run at one of the big free agents in 2014.
But im not a Bulldogs list manager haha

Sounds like a clone of Brad Sheppard.

WCE & Carlton really stuffed up their first picks in the 2009 draft. :(

To be honest, that whole draft year was pretty much poo. Top 20 only yeilded a few great players (based on career to date)....Martin (3), Fyfe (20) and a few good contributors....Scully, Trengove, Talia, Jetta....then the also rans in Cunnington, Morabito (injury), Rohan, Pittard.

Was a bad draft year for Carlton....Lucas, Davies and Kerr and 2 rookie upgrades (Jacobs and Joseph). Lucas is the only player still at the club.

If you wanna see a botched draft check out the Dogs' 2009 draft. Massive lols if you're an opposition supporter, crying in a corner if you're a Dogs supporter.

Have you still got the same recruiter? That was his first draft wasn't it? If it's the same guy he seems to have improved.

I think it might have been Scott Clayton's last draft with us, who's now Gold Coast's list manager. Not certain though.

I remember another recruiter telling me it was a new recruiter and they thought he was drunk. :p

Dalrymple or something? He's picked up some good players since though if it's still him.
