ok we win 2 more games and it will go like this...

GWS will take Durbin---dont need a forward
Melb will take Brayshaw----need on-ballers
Saints will take McCartin---have 2 young ruckman
Bulldogs will take Wright ----Yahoooo

we need Brisbane to win games..

Our Draft could be...

pick.1 Wright 2003cm power Ruck forward
pick.2 Laverde 189cm skilled wingman tall and great kick
pick.3 Cordy 194 skilled CHB
pick.4 Maisham 179cm super fast skilled onballer
pick.5...........................??
Pick.6 upgrade Yong

Super Draft for the dogs.........

Retired -Boyd and GIA
Cut-Goodes-Pierce-Fuller-Howard

Trade Bait---Grant---Talia---JJ----Higgins....

We could trade pick 4 and higgins for pick 1 from GWS if we really wanted Wright and we do.. or swap our pick 4 and Higgins for Patton? or Cameron or Boyd take your pick they need a Higgins or a Talia we need a power forward and this is our last chance to get one....

Thoughts

Picken Roughead Morriss

Murphy Williams Wood

Bondepelli Walliss McCrae

Stringer Jones Crameri

Dalhouse Patton Hunter
Boyd
Cameran
Wright
Minson Libba Griffen

Cordy -Smith-Honeychurch-Stephens

Campbell-

Note "modern key forward". With the exception of Walker, those are previous generation players. Even so, Pavlich and Riewoldt aren't your stay at home power forwards. They do their best work through their work rate and their ability to push up the ground.

Irrespective of their generation their type of forward craft is still pretty successful in modern day footy. Work rate and ability to push up the ground is even more important now that players are congesting the stoppages and often leaving more space behind them.

Never seen McCartin play have you ? If so what role does he
Play ?

Plays deep out of the goal square and is already pretty solidly built so hes strong enough to hold his position and take contested grabs. He works well with Goddard at state level because as Goddard is that leadup CHF in comparison. McCartin is good on the lead also, but prefers to be played deeper, because his field kicking can be suspect.

Is he a good set shot ?

I've seen a bit but not as much as many others on bigfooty, and mostly from last year. He's the most natural forward of the bunch, strong body, can dominate with his strength, and a great mark. He's the closest to being a true power forward compared to the others in the draft. His height isn't an issue for him right now, but it might be in the AFL where the defenders are bigger and stronger. He'd still be my number one pick this year, though Wright and Duggan are close. Don't rate him as high as Boyd from last year though.
Worth the risk then

Good article on him there from last year, I have heard reports of him at times fluffing kicks both at goal and delivery inside 50 but his marking and body positioning is undoubtedly the best this draft has to offer. Interesting thing I read from the article is that he regularly is required to check his blood and administer injections each quarter, could this be an issue for the team who drafts him if the number of interchanges are reduced and team want to give their midfielders instead of their talls more interchange breaks?

Do GC need any players that would be there at pick 4/5 really? Could get even worse and could be pick 3

in which case, I'd be asking for their two picks and something extra...

their board seems to have their heart set on Lachie Weller but their midfield depth is pretty solid, personally I'd be taking Jake Lever but could be a possibility he gets to their first pick anyway o_O
I don't really think GC need anything desperately. I just think a top 5 pick would be better for them than two top 15 picks because they need to cut the list and also the list is already so good all they need to be doing is adding the best players they possibly can. So thats why the trade makes sense. Its a bit of a risk though because that KPF we desperately want might slip through to our first pick.

I hope we go for McCartin if available, the Goddard.

Both Vic boys which appears to be our policy (quite sensibly IMO).

Goddard seems to be a pretty great prospect, great runner, height, can play forward or back (forward better), and a real team player. Only prob is he is supposedly better as the no 2 forward...

Bamblett had Rioli like pace off the burst to put a gap on his opponent, he also could play as a defensive forward

Sure the stamina of players has increased, but there is no reason to think players like Les Bamblett wouldn't be fitter as a player in 2014 - like Eddie Betts, Rioli, Varcoe, Jetta, etc
Was more thinking of the different game style contributing to lower possession counts for non-midfielders. Not a slight on Bamblett, just another reason why his disposal count would be lower than modern day forwards.

On recent form I would avoid Goddard like the Plague. He has been terrible considering the wraps that are on him. Would rather get the two GC picks and get Kietel and an outside mid at those picks than pick up someone who can't string reasonable games together. He showed good sign last year, yes but this yer he has shown absolutely nothing worth mentioning.

Gets taken out of games too easily, so he is the sort of Forward that we need. Someone like McKenzie or Watchman would be more around what we would be looking for and both would be around in the Second Round.
in saying that hopefully we can get a few picks in the second round. I like a few players that are around there in the draft.

Sounds like Watchmans having some off field issues and could still be around in the later rounds. Whats McKenzie like?

Luckily his Dad didn't play enough games. He is a 196cm 100kg power forward from the Northern Knights. he is more you FF type that plays close to goal strong mark, tackles well for a big bloke, kicks goals .The sort that a few people here have been calling out for and as you can see from his relative size there isn't much else that needs to be looked at body wise apart from a few this a preseason would fix up would be able to get into the side relatively quickly.

Great if we can land one of the very promising key forwards mentioned above. My understanding of the Father-Son bidding system is that only teams below us on the ladder can force us to take Cordy with our first pick if they bid for him. If a team who which finishes above us bids we do not have to use our first pick for him, therefore, we get him with our second pick. Previously, I wasn't sure about this. Anyone want to confirm?

Correct. Teams can bid on him with any pick they like (ie gws might finish below us but decide they want to bid on him with their 3rd rounder), and we have the option of taking him with our next available pick

I would still go for Tom Lamb he has x-factor finds the goals, can play midfield and if grows slightly could be a seriously good CHF and then go all out for Patton or Boyd next year as with them out of contract they will be more gettable and we probably have more currency then. Wold also love to go hard for O'Rourke this year. 2016 Line Up
B: Wood Roughie Cordy
HB: Higgins Talia/Roberts Griffen
C: Bonts Libba O'Rourke
HF: Grant Lamb Crameri
F: Dahl Patton Hunter
Foll: Minson Wallis Macrae
INT: Hrovat Stringer Smith Stevens

Think the only thing we need is a second ruck/Forward if cordy doesn't come on and maybe some speed

Cheers. If we were fortunate enough to select him with our 3rd pick (which is becoming less likely considering his recent form), we would be in a very good position. As cynical as it sounds, we could be well advised to not let too many teams finish below us.

http://boundforglorynews.com/paige-cardonas-phantom-draft-1-0/

has Duggan going at 20, which is where a lot of people seem to rate him that watch it very closely anyway

Pickett would be a pretty good get, offers tonnes of pace and is a solid disposer of the ball and kicks goals from the midfield
I slightly prefer him over Duggan but just think we've gone for a lot of local boys lately; but maybe its time for a mix up or that has
just been coincidence...:p

I expect Duggan to go up peoples charts as the year goes by. It's a tough choice between Pickett and Duggan for me, though I'm pretty sure the dogs would take Duggan. As you said, we like to take Victorians, but there's also the fact that he trained with us earlier in the year which could be a factor. Also as I mentioned earlier, he is only just old enough to scrape into this draft, which the we will see as a big plus.

Why not aim to get both, by downgrading our picks? ;)
