Bonti at 2. Nice

Called him "a yong Kouta" :p

Laverde pick 5 based on above rankinga

I'm still keen on Laverde reckon if Melbourne get a comp pick for Frawley though he will be gone by pick #7.
The way i see it is we have 3 main needs, need one is to recruit a KPF which is the most pressing need for me, a gun HBFer and a fast, skilled pacey Jetta/Rioli/Hill type. I think Laverde would be a great asset off HB and obviously will spend time in the midfield as well.

well someone has to be there at our pick  Melbourne can't pick all of, Durdin/Goddard/Brayshaw/Petracca/Laverde/Marchbank

Laverde is also fast

I think if Melbourne get a compo pick they will go Petracca and Durdin, Carlton i reckon will then take Laverde with #6.
After last night I wouldn't mind Marchbank :p

if they take him, then he is a spud
everyone knows, we pick the most talented one ;)

some people have Durdin way sliding, if he is a Jake Carlisle clone
I would be excited by that  needs a decent end to the year though
same with Goddard, right now...not excited about either

definitely think we need more 'star' power, have too many tryers on the list

What is the issue with his knee? Anything serious? If he missed the combine there is a very good chance that he could slide into the 20's

Laverde & Marchbank combo is back to been a chance? Yipee, don't even need to trade with GC to get two picks :p
Been having a huge last month averaging 30 disposals the last few weeks and third in the goal kicking. Number one in goal assists and is a freak of a contested mark for his size. Just shows his form is continuing.
I think he might go second-third round, if he was only 6-10cm taller; he'd be a second round shot
didn't play in the champs did he?

Speaking of knees, where will Lever go?
should go early to mid first round, was a captain last year as a 17 year old
has already been talking to the clubs and apparently has spoke to us

the difference is, Marchbank has had a solid year thus far but Lever was destroying last year until his ACL
I think if Lever tests well at the combine, could go real early
like Plowman..

Just to remind everyone that we're in good hands on draft day. Quick snapshot of how the top 5 guys from the 2012 draft behind Boyd went on the weekend:

2. O'rourke - 9 possessions from a full game in the midfield.

3. Plowman - 7 possessions before being subbed at 3 quarter time.

4. Toumpas - laid up with appendicitis, pondering where it's all gone wrong.

5. Stringer - 5 goals against a top 6 team.

6. Macrae - followed up his 42 touches and 2 goals with a lazy 32 touches and a goal.

I'm happy to grab as many picks as we can and head back to the draft.

Hopefully Toumpas continues to spud it up until Melbourne are willing to offload him for cheap. Was so keen on this kid and still think in a good environment he could be a jet.

Someone put up a stat recently that's showed that dominant juniors that get more than 2/3 of their possession uncontested struggle at senior level - Cale Morton destroy the u18s in his draft year. Toumpas was in the same ratio category.

Our points system seems to be working?

Yeah it makes sense, don't think you can completely rule them out just on that though as teams just look to get the ball into some of these guys hands as much as possible. Think Kelly was the same and he looks okay so far, as long as they've shown they can win their own ball their usually fine id think. But yeah our drafting has improved considerably so if our systems working then I wouldn't be changing anythig

If he was that much taller you'd have to play a KPD on him cause of his jump :p
Yeah didn't play champs but improving with every week. Don't think he was in the system last year and he is now leading goal kicker for Oakleigh who I'm pretty sure that are top of the ladder.

players who play in the Championships usually go before the TAC players, was he even on their squad?

I think we might surprise a few opposition clubs with our selections again, but just because a player currently plays a certain position means he'll end up there at AFL

4th round. We have been experimenting with our talls and seeingvif they can help out Minson in the ruck and it hasn't worked. Answer Fox cue Chris25's write up

Josh FoxHeight: 197cmWeight: 90kgFrom: Clarence, TasmaniaPosition: Forward, RuckTime to go in a completely different direction, and we're heading south to have a look at Josh Fox from Tasmania. The 19 year old returned as an overaged player to take part in the U18 Championships for Tasmania this year, after obviously going undrafted in 2013. He was an unlikely rookie selection at best last year, but some strong performances this year will see him in with a better chance.I'll start with his best position at the top level, and it's as a forward that he would get drafted. Although, a forward who can pinch hit in the ruck if needed. Fox has taken on most of the ruck duties for Tasmania both at the U18 Championships and in the TAC Cup this year, but it's more case of him being one of the only options. He has the height and a relatively strong frame given him being a 19 year old. He also moves well for someone as tall as he is, so he could almost be considered as another midfielder when the ball hits the ground - he did win 26 possessions in one game at the Championships this year. But it's up forward where he does look his most dangerous, it's just a shame that he only got three matches at the Championships - and all against the other Division 2 sides, as it would have been interesting to see how he went against better opposition. But nonetheless, he is a very good mark and particularly so on the lead - at the U18 Championships this year, 10 of his 17 marks were contested. At times it looks like he has quite sticky hands, as he leads straight at the ball and just pulls it down at it's highest point. But as I said, he wasn't considered much of a chance last year at draft time and it was probably for a few reasons. A lack of consistency in his play can really hurt a Division 2 prospect. He wasn't quite as physically developed as he is this season, having put on 5kg in the past year. But the biggest issue was his kicking. It was hugely inconsistent, ranging anywhere from good to down right poor. And for a forward, the same could be said for his goal kicking. However in all fairness, from what he showed at the U18 Championships, he has greatly improved in this regard - and went at a disposal efficiency of over 80% across his three matches. Although I do think that is a little inflated for how good it really is.In terms of performances, he has definitely flashed potential and has become more consistent this year too. But one thing is for sure, and it's that Fox loves playing against the smaller NT bodies. Last year he finished with 15 disposals, 11 marks and 5 goals against them. And in 2014, Fox had 26 disposals, 9 marks, 3 clearances, 20 hitouts and a goal. But he is more than just an NT specialist, having averaged 14 disposals, 4 marks and a goal against each of NSW/ACT and Queensland. And also recording some similar games in the TAC Cup, where he has again showed off his marking ability. The best comparison for him in terms of the draft, is without a doubt Alex Pearce from Fremantle. He was drafted as a tall utility type, and was also a 19 year old playing for Tasmania. Pearce received very little attention from BigFooty, but was drafted at the end of the second round and nearly made his AFL debut last weekend having settled into the back lines in the WAFL. In terms of playing style, you could make a case for fellow mature aged Tasmanian Ben Brown as a comparison - although Fox being a slightly more athletic version. I still don't think Fox is even guaranteed to be a rookie selection, but it's not out of the question for clubs to start discussing him near the end of the third round. So I'll put a conservative 50+ draft range on him.

space it out a bit

:)

I think one of Fox/Cripps would be good as a rookie selection

thank Skippos

Marchbank

how do you think his knee surgery will affect where he is taken in the draft? Skippos

and Laverde

I think I need to see more of Goddard before I am convinced, very good at shutting down his opponent though

any of the 3 would be fine selections imo, not sure we'd take Pickett unless he has a ripper final run
doesn't win enough of his own ball and its something we pride all our players been good at

I'm really liking Laverde, him on one wing Macrae on the other would make me quite moist :p

Has he stamped himself as a top 10 pick yet or still in that 10-15 range, I just want two high draft picks this draft!
