AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
He had a day out against us in the VFL. I wonder where he would fit in at AFL level wether it's wing or half forward or medium/pseudo-tall forward. This was Reported by Josh Gabelich on SEN Sportsday that we interested in Sam Davidson from Richmond VFL side.
It would be interesting were Sam would fit in at AFL level kind of surprised Richmond didn’t take him in the Mid - Season draftHe had a day out against us in the VFL. I wonder where he would fit in at AFL level wether it's wing or half forward or medium/pseudo-tall forward.
Any chance we use the Bailey Smith pick to move up in the draft and get Trainer? It looks like he will slip to early teens.

Oh man I just got flashbacks to picking up Tom Davidson in 2006 thinking he'd solve our tall forward problems! This was Reported by Josh Gabelich on SEN Sportsday that we interested in Sam Davidson from Richmond VFL side. GWS and Collingwood are the other two clubs that like the lad
He screams bolter to me. I wouldn't be pinning my hopes on him being available where he's currently being rated, and also wouldn't be surprised if he does go first round.I think he could given the popularity of small forwards these days and given his last month or so of footy. I wouldn't have him in the first 18 or so picks, I think he could go anywhere after that as it's still very even and open still. He should test well at the state combine for both pace and agility which will help also. I imagine he will at least be top 10 for pace, maybe agility as well.
This is what his coach said at the bottom.
We say: While he is a handy player at either end, Hannaford has jumped up in draft calculations since switching from halfback to half-forward in the second half of the year. He kicked a bag of five goals against Oakleigh in round 18 and stood out with six goals in the a quarter-final win over Geelong.
They say: “This kid can just play both ends. He’s got such high end speed, such quick reactions off the mark. He’s so powerful and aggressive. His forward pressure’s A-grade, it’s elite, but he can also hit the scoreboard.” – Rebels coach David Loader
I'm keen. Seems very well rounded, could slot straight in with his versatility wherever we need.Is Datoli that mid/fwd hybrid we're looking for?
Going early 2nd round on most draft boards.

IIRC Bont averaged less than 15 disposals in his top aged yearThe thing I do like about Oliver is that hurt factor. He doesn't get alot of it but doesn't waste anything either. It is a similar trait to Richards early days, he'd struggle to have more then 15 touches off halfback/wing but they were all meaningful. If he can improve his production whilst maintaining the defensive intent and impact per possession he will be a serious player.
He barely played midfield, it was one of the reasons he was considered a bit of a risk IIRC.IIRC Bont averaged less than 15 disposals in his top aged year
He was certainly a bolter based on last season form.He barely played midfield, it was one of the reasons he was considered a bit of a risk IIRC.
You like him a lot? From what I’ve caught on YouTube I have only seen him really do a lot of his best work up forwardShame that Lalor injury won't allow him to drop to our pick

If the AFL give saints band 1 compo I think they wont trade it. 7&8 lets saints take a risk like last time they had 2 picks together. So Reid & Trainor. As opposed to getting 21 which they might trade up for a pick to secure 1 of hotton or lindsay.Going to be difficult to get into the top 10 think
First rounders that should in theory be gettable are
GC 12 (our old pick)
Brisbane 15+
maybe Freo 10 or 16
Keeping in mind all of those picks will push 1 to 4 places out. Depending on where bids come for Ashcroft, Lombard, Kako and possible Battle compo pick
realistically best case scenario I think we'd be looking at getting into the draft around pick 12-13 at best
I’ve seen about 3 different mock drafts this week (TrueFooty, PominOz, etc) all have us picking up Hotton with our first.
Apparently he was a top 5 prospect before doing an ACL and doesn’t want to leave Victoria which has him sliding to our pick. Would be a very good, fortunate pick up.
