Fingers crossed.

We knew this was always on the cards too. Irrespective of the outcome we desperately need to get another solid ruckman on our list.

I dont think I have ever been flatter about a potential injury
I will be so ****ing happy if he escapes serious damage

Me too but we can't rest on our laurels if he's ok.

Earlier this year I said we had a ruck crisis and I stand by that.

Jamar - getting on

Gawn - injury recurrence more likely

Fitz/Spencer - no assurance what so ever.

Yep we need to find something somewhere
Bellchambers, Sinclair, Warnock, West, Griffen are the only realistic targest around I would think
Also Peter Jackson basically just said Frawleys gone on the TFS

Said there has been a contract in front of him for weeks and he can't see any reason why he wouldnt have signed if he wanted to stay

Problem is we have a crisis in every position. We don't have much trade bait and I think our higher picks are going to be used on mids. Lower picks and Rookie picks is the only way I can see us getting another ruck to the club this off season.

Leuenberger, Kruezer, Bellchambers and Lobbe are free agnets next year, the club should be targeting these guys.

Lower picks and rookie picks is the reason we're in this poor ruck situation to some degree.

Your point sounds good as long as we can actually land one of those players.

I agree we need rucks but at the moment we need mids more, just cant see us using a high pick on a ruck this year. There aren't many rucks in this years draft anyway.

As a trade Bellchambers is a possibility but it depends on what we have to give up

I'm in no position to argue with any of that mate as I simply don't know the draft. I'm only talking theoretically here. I won't argue with most of what the club ends up doing either unless it is so obviously odd.

Just to throw a spanner in the works I also think we could do with a genuine utility. Yes, I know, your jaw is dropping in disbelief. We had nothing but b-grade utilities for much of the last decade and have only just started coming out of it. I just think that medium-tall who can be a jack (not hack) of all trades with decent disposal is very handy, especially if the AFL get rid of the sub and go back to 4 on the bench.

Trade Watts and pick 23 to Port for pick 15 and Tom Clurey

Clurey is a 20 year 193cm rebounding key defender, works off his opponent offensively a bit similar to Frawley. He has good foot skills which is what we lack down back. Impressed over the nab cup including playing on Nick riewoldt earlier this year and was given a round 1 debut this year but hasn't got a game since. Out of contract and would be a good to get another young key defender with a couple of pre seasons under his belt.

not sure we need a tall utility type, with Watts, Pedersen, Howe, Garland, Dunn and Grimes who I consider those types.

Brayden Maynard in the draft is considered a utility which I wouldn't mind having at the dees, more of your Ryan O'Keefe type but can play forward and back but also considered to be a genuine midfielder

Where is Toumpas at guys; reckon he'd be on the table for a reasonable trade?
Been injured and has spent most of the year in the VFL trying to improve his contested/defensive game. The issue in getting a trade for Toumpas is in valuing him. He's spent both years with us dealing with various injuries so we've never seen him string some good games together or build form but because he was a high pick we'd hope to get a high pick for him (which he may not warrant on exposed form).

None of those players are what I see as a genuine utility going forward tbh. A genuine utility can be constructive in the midfield as well as each end. Grimes is defence only, doesn't belong in the conversation, most the others are competent at one end and useful at best as a fill in at the other. Don't confuse swing players or players with no fixed address with genuine utilities.

Bingo, that's the type I have in mind. Similar to a Goodes, Burgoyne, Wingard etc. needs to be able to take a grab and read the play around the ground as well as have an engine for the guts.

Your talking about Brendan Goddard
Someone who is equally capable of doing damage in any spot

If Gawn's done his knee again, it might change our focus from trying to sign a cheap ready-made ruck option from a state league, to maybe looking at giving up a bit more to get an AFL-quality ruck (Bellchambers, Giles from GWS etc).

Fingers crossed for Max. He's been one of the major positives for us this season.

Also, if he has done another ACL, it might make us keener to retain Fitzy as a forward/ruck....

Delist:
Clisby
Strauss
Nicholson
Fitzpatrick
King (Rookie)

Retired:
Byrnes
Clark

Trades/FA:
Frawley
Blease
Tapscott

Upgrades:
Jetta

Lucky:
Jordie Mac
Matt Jones

Blease is a freak, can do extraordinary things but he does not fit in to our gameplan and style of play. Could get a half decent pick for him.

Tappy, not sure if he has any value. Don't mind him, but would rather something else if possible. Happy to retain for one more year if nothing better comes about.

Praying to god that we trade a high pick for midfield quality, and that we keep Watts.

7-8 spots on the list up for grabs, with Nev taking one of them.
Draft 4 or 5 - in the hope that we trade a couple more in and may even grab a delisted player for free and/or ROK.

My two cents, for what it's worth.
