I think you will find it's the Talia from Adelaide not the dogs.
Massive win to the crows there but I agree there is no crystal ball when it comes to drafting.
That Daniel Talia was taken in 2009, first round. Michael Talia was taken the pick directly after Kelly in 2011. No big deal.

The other KPD we grabbed was Moose Lisle. The case for cannot pick a KPD grows!

Leigh Colbert was captain of Geelong when he left for North wasn't he Dip?
Or am I wrong?
That is correct.
I just can't fathom it.....it would tear Richmond apart.

How bout this guy....

EXCLUSIVE: JEREMY Cameron has opened the door to leaving the troubled Giants.

The budding superstar, who is estimated to be worth $1 million a season on the open market, has formally rejected Greater Western Sydney overtures to sign a new long-term deal.

Cameron is contracted until the end of the 2015, but the Herald Sun understands Cameron will decide at the end of the season if he stays at GWS or seeks a move home to Victoria.

GWS has tried several times to initiate talks, but Cameron’s manager Alex McDonald has told them contract talks were on hold.

Shoey and our first round pick.....make it happen.

If we threw in Breust, they would look at it

Would love to see Hawks go hard for a player like Ziebell. He is exactly the type of player that we need only 23 nearly played 100 games and is strong at contested ball.

It's funny how 2-3 years ago we were considered a slow and one paced midfield but with the injection of Smith, Hill and Hartung I think the hawks have completely flipped that on its head.

Port did not beat us with run, they beat us in tight for clearances.

People still consider us a slow side despite all those players.

The difference against Port was sloppy turnovers in defensive 50 and not kicking to the advantage of our leading forwards.

Be honest, how many of you blokes have watched this kid closely?
Have watched him numerous times at Box Hill this year. As have others you've quoted.

He's a good player at VFL level, but I can't see him making it at AFL level.

Realistic trades are overatted.
Force GWS hand or walk to the draft
I'm not sure we'd be in a position to "force" anything of the sort.

Apart from the less-than-premium Luke Ball, how many times has thos worked?

For all those who suggest we are no good at picking KPDs I think you should consider a few things. Namely, how good we are at picking KPF. Gunston, Roughy, Buddy, Holland, Thompson, Barker (for a couple of years), Boyle, and Croad are all players to play up forward for Hawthorn since 2000. Not saying they are all elite but contrast that with pretty much any KPF at the bulldogs (apart from Chris grant) in that time. Have they had more than one forward as good as the worst of that list? Maybe but most of them would never have gotten a game at Hawthorn. Its not like they haven't tried. Most clubs are in the same position. KPP are hard to pick and we have been exceptionally lucky in that regard despite missing out on Thorpe and Dowler (both of whom had the talent to play either end). Many defenders start out as forwards because typically forwards are the more talented at junior level.

KPP Drafted Since Clarko started at Hawthorn:
Heatherley
Tatupu
O'Brien*
Brand
Kelly (?)
Boseley
litherland* (?)
Sam Grimley*
Ben Stratton* (?)
Shoenmakers*
Lisle*
Milne*
Sandliands
Walsh
Thorpe*
Dowler*
Markovich**
Gilham*
Roughhead*
Franklin*
Murphy* (?)

We have also Traded in Gunston, Lake, Gibson (?) and Bouman.

That is a considerable effort and we have been unlucky that none of those players (apart from Gibson, Lake and Shoey) have turned into that KPD we all want.

? Pinch hitter
* played AFL games
** Played AFL games at another club

I wish people would stop sugar coating our ability to draft KPD, this is 1 particular area that we are traditionally poor at recruiting. It's a little bewildering reading the case for Jordan Kelly in preference of Michael Talia, given the fact most big blokes are not the best of kicks ( Brian Lake regularly has brain fades by foot), that would be the least of our concerns when you have such good users of the footy around him. Talia would be a fantastic long term prospect for the Hawks had we drafted him and would have slotted in nicely as we are going through this injury stricken period.

Great surprise this morning reading the paper here in Sydney, big news that Jeremy Cameron has rejected all dialogue with the GWS and from reading between the lines I'd be shocked if he was to stay here in Sydney. Don't doubt for a second our club doesn't have the ability to recruit Cameron, we have plenty of $$ and the perfect set up for him to flourish and I would think he would see the HFC as a club of choice. Who is in better position than us to have a crack?

Cotchin talk is fanciful, almost a zillion to one the chance of him coming to Hawthorn considering he basically took Dustin Martin in and nurtured the guy when he wanted out last off season. We are better off targeting another GWS mid in a deal to get Cameron to Hawthorn, we have alot of carrots to dangle both player and draft wise.

I'm not going to go on about this all day. Each entitled to his opinion, Kelly for me is just one who cops a fair whack on these boards (Lowden and Grimley also) unfairly.

27 against Coburg, Game high 23 against Richmond, and 19 with 11 handball receives from the weekend suggest the kid is going okay.

GWS fans and club were never really big on Jack Hombsch. Now he's a solid citizen in the league's top team.

Enough from me. A 3 figure win over the Giants with Rough kicking 11 and KPD's will be last week's concern.

I don't think Kelly cops a fair wack at all, tbh.
He's a bit of an unknown to most, really.

Some of those who do watch Box Hill tend to see him as "just a player" though, and so when we look at the required amount of list changes that need to be made each year Kelly's name gets put up because he's not overly tall, he's not particularly quick, he's not fantastically gifted by foot or ferocious in his endeavor....he's just a decent player.

I have seen him do great things, I've seen him do average things. He shows good leadership and is solid each week, but I just don't see much upside or growth to keep him on the senior list going forward.
