Why chase a Mundy with about 3 to 4 good years in him when you could chase a Dangerfield,Treloar or a Jaegar O'Meara all hypothetical of course but at least you get a player for 6 to 12 years barring injury!!!!

Because in order to get any of those three, you will need to trade for them. Do you think we actually have the picks to afford any of them?

Mundy will come free in terms of picks, and the money side isn't a huge issue due to Buddy leaving.

Is this coming from your impeccable sources, Moose? If so, I'd stop going to them for information because there is no Dylan Shiels playing in the AFL.

Oh I'm sorry I put a s on the end of Shiel. If your going to be a ignorant dog don't quote my posts, cause it's a form of harassment. Also I'm allowed to make suggestions & if you look Dylan Shiel is a Victorian boy & could be quite realistic.

If Hawks were looking at Dangerfield it will be the end of next year. Logic

Well that's fantastic, but surely we would not leave such a large chunk of our salary cap free and miss out on players like Mundy (if they wanted to come to Hawthorn), just because Dangerfield may leave, and may nominate us. We are a huge chance at a flag this year and next. Why not attempt to win a flag in the next two years, rather than wait for Dangerfield and have Hodge, Mitchell, etc. closer to the end, or retired. The other two that you mentioned won't be free agents for a while, so that won't help us.

I reckon if Dangerfield moves he'll end up down Corio way. Love him at Hawthorn, don;t get me wrong, and we'd be mad not to make a play, but I think the Cats will have the inside running there.

Frawley... Is my main target if I was them, Mundy only if he wanted to come to us, but we would have to outbid Fremantle

Logic says the exact opposite.

Dangerfield as a free agent would require near on $1mil per annum.
We put our TPP ahead of the Franklin contract. You can bet your life on the TPP being put ahead of any individual HFC contracts.

Satisfy a trade and we could get him for $650k.

Adelaide could possibly be pretty desperate, don't forget they were recently stripped of draft picks and lost Tippett for nil. They will be gun-shy.

All this talk makes me wonder how much % of the salary cap we are paying this season.
Despite the club having a fair idea bud was leaving, I'm sure they left enough room in the cap. And a lot of contracts have already been negotiated/signed with free agency in mind.

Some front loading going on?

Hard to imagine if we aren't paying 100% of the cap this year, that we wouldnt have a good idea how and who will make up 100% of it next year.

Gun-shy I doubt.

Frawley will be a Sun and Dangerfield will be a Cat

We will get some relatively obscure youngster

Soon as Dangerfield called to wait to sign I gulped. Only one place he will end up if he doesn't sign on and that is at Geelong.

Would love to hear he re-signs soon, Geelong will never go down the ladder with Selwood and Danger leading them for the next 7 years.

My understanding is that we have to pay 100% of the cap, or at least 95% of it as per afl rules. I think that is why so many players signed extensions late last year. The club pulled the offer to buddy and with the cash (obviously not all of it) front loaded a whole lot of other players contracts.
