I really like the fact that we seem to take a much more balanced approach to our list than most other clubs. The amount of $/cap % being thrown at players that aren't even elite is ridiculous. No wonder they can't win flags.

Im hoping Geelong have more plans they just chucking Varcoe out there for trade and thinking they will rejuvenate there list that way by delisting Pods/Chappy.
There should be a fair bit of room in the cap now.
Sydney and Hawks got proactive with some smart trading by headhunting guys that had big influences like Gunston,Gibson,Lake,Mummy,Kennedy etc.
It looks like we have conceded when need to rejuvenate our list a bit so hopefully we can pull an ace from somewhere.
Adams would be great for us for the long term but Shaw wouldnt be in my opinion.

It's really a matter of what's out there and there doesn't appear to be many out of contract players that suit our needs, on the flipside we don't have that much currency to trade with either. We can't get a contracted gun player in without giving up something significant ourselves and we can't really afford to let any of our potential stars go, it's not just a matter of money.

All our tradebait players are 'potentially' good players that are out of form, hence aren't that appealing. All we have is pick 15 and GWS don't want picks. We're kind of jammed trade wise by the look of it.

Would like to see us pick up Karnezis from Brisbane. Will be a very good player on the flank/wing and is a really nice height too.

Mostly true. But I can give you two words that show Geelong can more than hold their own at bad trades.

Hamish and McIntosh.

SJ + something else to GWS.
We all know it aint gonna happen but Adams and P1 would fast track and strengthen our team big time 3 or 4 years down the track.
Im thoughts are we need to bolster our list now with quality youngsters.
We probably wont be winning the flag inthe next couple of years and our delisting indicate GFC think this is also the case.

I know a few Brisbane insiders and Patty K is a highly talented, but ultra lazy player with an ego to boost. Constantly at the back of all running groups preseason, unwilling to do any extra work to get himself to the level he may be capable of.

I reckon that we can back our leaders to push him over the preseason and maybe the move back to his home state will motivate him?

Ive not read up on him but do we have any interest in Shaun Mckernan? seems to me we have a depth of midfielders at the moment but a true ruckman is something we sorely missed for a lot of the year. Im a big fan of simpson but his injury track record isnt great and id much prefer Vardy up forward.

McKernan is a poor man's West. He is not a "true ruckman".

It looks like this draft isn't a good one after the early picks. Hine basically said he doesn't rate it after the top 15 and there's no way Hampson is worth anywhere near a top 30 pick in a decent draft. Perhaps Wells has a couple of specials up his sleeve though.
