On potential yes, But I'm really not sure if Kreuz will ever be able to reach his best, purely from the injuries his body is going through. Really hope he does though

He'll essentially end up having the majority of this season off to really rest his body, so there should be no excuses for him later this year or early next. I biggest issue for me with Kreuzer is that he keeps getting injured, and whether his body can actually stand up at AFL level.

The saddest part about Kreuz is that he was totally fine before his knee. Ever since his knee he can't stop getting injured. That freaking knee.

Hawthorn have been able to bring guys into their club because they've they've been in the position to see a glaring weakness and just about guarantee games into the players they've recruited.
That's a high risk high reward strategy but how can you deny them when they've topped up at the right time with the right personnel?
That's list management and not just hanging onto players because they may just come good.

I see our deficiencies as being quite glaring and with Malthouse at the helm, we're not a hard club to nominate playing for, if you're the right type of player. We'll get players wanting to come. No problem.

Play like we played the last two weeks then it'd be easier to convince other to join our club, no? -:)

I like the way Buckley and Menzel wore their hear on their sleeves so to speak. Could just see the determination to win and how pumped they were kicking the last 2 goals. Need young players coming through with that competitive streak and never-say-die attitude, something we haven't always had unfortunately.

On that note, I'm sure he's going to be a player, but what iv seen of Cripps at senior level he looks too 'nice' lol. Fair enough in your first season to feel a bit nervous and out of place out there on the ground in front of a big crowd I guess, but I hope to see some aggression from him with his big frame...haven't seen that 'fierceness' like you see on the face of an Ollie Wines for example.

Not nice at all. He's happy to plant your face into the turf.

Some of tackles are beastly. It's good to have the likes of Cripps, Menzel, Graham and Holman who genuinely know how to tackle.

I remember watching him as a junior, and he was so durable.
Fingers crossed this time out of the game is the last time the big fella has an extended period on the sidelines.

Fingers crossed

He went from a guy who played 50 consecutive games, to a player who can't escape injuries. And Matty is such a good guy :(

The club won't take any risks with him whatsoever now.
He won't play again until he is 110%.
Personally, I wouldn't play him again this year and get him stuck into a mini preseason before the rest of the boys come back at the conclusion of the season.

Giles seems to be the forgotten recruit. Question for VFL and track watchers, how has he been progressing? Are we likely to see hom in the seniors this year?

Shown some signs, but it a fair way away from from AFL footy.
I wouldn't expect him to be anywhere close to selection until next year.

Can someone please let me know how Bootsma, Watson, Holman and Docherty are going? I seen Doc in the best players a few weeks ago but seen nothing of the others. Bootsma and Watson where 1st round picks but really dont seem like 1st round players, hope we didnt waste 2 1st round pick but i think we might have unless someone can tell me otherwise. Thanks in advance for any updates on these players..

That's because they aren't first round players. We got them both in compromised drafts.

While you're right, the problem we have is that our strike rate has been worse than clubs with later picks. That said, everyone is an expert with the benefit of hindsight in regards to recruiting and we seem on a much better path in this regard under Rogers.

Bootsma's draft was just shit in general, not a lot of talent after our pick of Bootsma, certainly the next pick Murray Newman, famed lost to the coach in the time trial come gbh convicted hack of a player, would have been far worse

We could have gotten Fraser Mcinnes but he isn't setting the world alight either.

What would be a reasonable trade for a KPP (e.g. Tomlinson)? Note, they don't need picks or kids.

Tough to find a senior player (w/currency) that we'd be comfortable losing.

Garlett? Lucas? Curnow? Tuohy? Trade period will be harder than we think.

Do we have something they would want? yes.

Can we afford to offload something that has the currency to get a deal like this done? Id say no as well... (they aren't going to do a Robinson + 2nd rounder for eg.)

Unless someone exceptional nominates us i think we stick with our pick and take it to the draft, the talls at the top end of this year are very good, and so is brayshaw (mid) i think our 2nd rounder we can use to trade again so long as its a Doc/Everitt type which clearly is in our favour GWS or GC wouldnt bat an eyelid at a 2nd rounder so i think we look elsewhere...

Jono O'rourke getting games to bump up his trade value?

Dylan Shiel in and out this year a bit as well......

May..... may leave may not.....

Boyd 2016

We have a lot of players to offload and I don't see any of them that will get us much more than a minor pick upgrade at best
Casboult
Lucas
McInnes
Watson
Cachia
Armfield
Bootsma

Mick may well throw Garlett and Yarran in to the mix
