Wonder if the Lions would be interested in Seedsman - showed great signs last year. IIRC he got injured early in the year and now looks to be overtaken by guys like Williams, Langdon and Fasolo to an extent as the running half backs.

I would give serious consideration to trading away pick 1 for Tom Mitchell. I think he is going to be something very special.

Imagine the outrage! Swans recruit Tippett, Buddy, win the flag by beating the Pies in the Grand Final, keep the COLA in some form and then trade a non best 22 player for draft pick no. 1. I was so amused with this thought that I missed my bus stop and had to walk an extra 15 mins to get home.

That's not to say that the idea of trading for Mitchell isn't worth consideration.

Few Swans players I wouldn't mind getting our hands on, Membrey wouldn't be a bad get either. I'm sure they consider Mitchell best 22 down the line though, think they would recognise his value.

Not what I meant fellas, we haven't been paying the full cap for a couple of years as a means to save money (the bulldogs and a couple of other teams have been doing the same). So essentially we have had a lower cap by a good $400,000+ than the top teams who can "afford it". I am wondering if this practice is to be continued for next year? As there has been talk to make it mandatory to pay the full 100% every year, where as right now I think it is a minimum of 95% of the cap has to be used each year.

In other words, if anyone has information saying it is unlikely we will be spending the full 100% (for financial reasons) then my hopes for a prized recruit will be lowered.

IIRC they said they wanted to pay 100% last year but its tough with 5 leaving and nobody of great quality wanting to come to the club.

Plus our former chairman refusing the AFL's compromise that would've seen us accelerate payments into last years' cap to actually use that 100%.

Yeah, Tape is pretty much a lockdown type from what I've seen. They had him playing on small forwards quite a bit but I dunno if that is because he wasn't developed. He's a reasonable height and was recruited with that "can play small or tall" descriptor. But I've really not seen him take on anyone above a medium forward height.

Load up the cash wagon and lets head to Adelaide because I want Walker on the end of Riches cannon passes.
As much as I dislike Adelaide, actually I dislike 17 teams pretty much, maybe 16, with a soft spot for North Melbourne. And Hawthorn, I don't hate Hawthorn either, I quite like the way they go about things.

So anyway, as much as I dislike 15 teams a heap, and 2 teams less than that, I would feel sorry for Adelaide if they lost another KPP.

Tippett, Bock and Davis all big losses…..

I wouldnt.

We should target quality youngsters from the expansion teams who aren't getting games IMO. McCarthy was drafted last year but he's just there for GWS to get another high draft pick when they trade him, if they add one of O'Rourke or Sumner to the deal would our first rounder be enough?

I think if we rated McCarthy that highly we'd have drafted him with the Aish pick last year. I'm not even sure he was really in our thoughts unless he slid a lot. Wouldn't mind O'Rourke or Sumner but they'd be little more than steak knives for us, given we're talking about pick 1 (despite O'Rourke being a pick 2, I'd assume we're going off proven senior form here).

No deal for me on that one, but I agree with the premise. The squeeze will catch up with them.

The way I see it was we rated McCarthy highly as a needs pick but didn't expect Aish to slide that much - similar to the Ziebell/Rich situation, but agree with your thoughts too. Will be interesting to see what GWS do in trade week as they need to reduce their playing list by 2 each year from now on until they hit the standard AFL limit.

Considering our first will be 1-4, no.
