I guess, given his run on the Amazing Race may have some TV connections. Lethal has that well covered of course but a few more never hurt.

The sum of the total votes is not a multiple of 5

It seems that the gravity of your work might've dropped somewhat since the 18th century.

As mentioned already you could vote for 'up to' 5.

Is it somewhat disturbing that only somewhere between 1,320 and 1,700 full members cast votes. Makes for a small percentage of our membership base.
Beats the zero that have voted over the past ten years...

Outstanding.

I get it.

MacMum, I am not sure it is about what Ross Thornton or any other candidate says "he will do for X members...". Ultimately, whoever is elected must bring to the table expertise (rather than some political agenda) and using Ross as an example, he is a successful businessperson, has a Fitzroy connection and importantly some football knowledge. The last thing the Club needs is a half a dozen "presidential style candidates"...we need a team with complementary skills and expertise and a passion for the Club. Hopefully, Ross adds to the mix...

I know very well his credentials...was just wondering what he was going to do from down here........imo, the club has bent over backwards to the best of their ability in the last couple of years to re-engage with ex-Fitzroy people.

Not a lot more can be done when the club itself is in Qld.......and not everyone can be pleased.

Apart from being a Fitzroy best and fairest and vice-captain as well as acting Fitzroy captain for 12 matches, Ross is a current member of the Fitzroy Football Club, so I imagine he will act a conduit between the two clubs. I don't think there have been too many Brisbane Lions directors over the years that have actually been current members of Fitzroy. I can only think of one other.

Yes please did anyone go?

Yeah, but it really wasn't a controversial or overly enlightening one.

Only a few real revelations.

- Flightcentre coming on board as a corporate partner.
- Justin Clarke with a relatively bad hamstring injury, out till late January but shouldnt miss any pre-season games.
- Club looking to partner up with some other venues to profit share on our unused pokie quota
- A new ladies coterie group has been formed with Christie Leppitsch and some of the WAGs heavily involved.
- the club still has a sizeable chunk of salary cap space to play with.

Thanks very much. The Pokie partnerships and the Ladies Coterie are interesting concepts. Finally some creativity appears to be bubbling through. A partnership with a Local Northern, Eastern and Western Club is a great idea and could become a local focal point for Lions supporters.

I was going to vote, but the treatment I've received from the Club combined with the whole guernsey thing has led to me really not give a toss anymore. The Board knows the Membership base are alert at the moment, so they'll just pay us lip service for a few years until we settle down again and proceed to continue screwing us over.

Geez I've gotten bitter...

So we're back to appointing specialist directors it seems.

I'm not against this in principle but it seems to happen just too regularly and flippantly. An a mere couple of months after an AGM where such appointments could have been ratified by the members. After the events of recent years it would be nice to see the club leaning towards excessive accountability and transparency, rather than the bare minimum.

And while boards are elected to just get on with the job most of the time, it would be nice to see some more communication about objectives and how they have been met. Ross Thornton for example ran on a platform of overhauling and re-energising the club's engagement with Victorian fans. Is 14 months too soon to be asking what has been done in this area? I'm struggling to think of what has been done there.

When specialist directors are getting appointed so easily, it would definitely be good to get a feel for the projects they are spearheading to avoid the perception that are just being brought on board to consolidate voting blocs.

It does make you wonder where were these people at the last agm? Why didn't they stand then? Or a few years ago when there was the board turmoil.

Agree I'd like to see exactly what they were brought on to achieve so we can actually assess whether they're worth retaining.

What's most disappointing is that all these appointed specialist directors are pointing towards are board that increasingly is making decisions about the running of the club without member consultation. Don't get me wrong I don't expect them to consult members on everything but when we're talking about appointing people to a board which had elections only a few months ago, one can't help being disappointed.

Let's hope we get some info on what they're there to do
