AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Rioli to Richmond. May as well trade in my membership. Will be filthy if we take him.
Spoken to a few people today, they think Ah Chee will be gone. Gold Coast/Adelaide likely. Richmond were in SA recently, so I do get the feeling they're leaning towards Burton.
That was after we had pick 19. Our picks would have been 19,20 and Yarran for pick 12 , 31 and second round pick next year.We did offer 12 for Yarran and 20.
I'd rather we had 20 & 31, myself
No GachMy contingency plans for each pick
Pick 12:
Ryan Clarke 185cm 84kg Midfielder - Hard gut running inside/outside midfielder, defensively accountable and able to hit the scoreboard when pushing forward.
Mitch Hibberd 191cm 85kg Utility - Big bodied utility in the Goddard mold, can play in all 3 areas of the ground. Can hurt teams with his footskills.
Callum Ah Chee 182cm 75kg Midfielder/Forward - Exciting small forward/midfielder who brings X factor. In time should develop into an exciting outside midfielder
Rhys Mathieson 185cm 79kg Midfielder - inside midfielder who loves a contest, disposal a little questionable but as an inside midfielder that can be excused.
Jade Gresham 177cm 74kg Midfielder - 6-7cm taller and he'd be my number 1 pick. Has all the tools but lacks the size you want as an AFL midfielder.
Pick 47:
Kurt Mutimer 185cm 82kg Midfielder - Similar player to Clarke in that he is an inside outside midfielder who runs hard. On the outside he can be very damaging with a left boot capable of sending it 60m accurately.
Declan Mountford 183cm 80kg Midfielder - Another midfielder with a big motor, despite his slight frame he won 50% of his possessions at WAFL reserves level in a contest. Would need to add some size to be capable of that at AFL level
David Cunningham 183cm 79kg Forward/Midfielder - quick outside midfielder who needs a fair bit of refinement to become an AFL player. Still a lot to work with and at this stage of the draft can't be too picky
Mason Redman 186cm 77kg Utility - another of those hybrid types who can play both inside and outside. Again a bit of work would need to be done to bring him up to scratch but could develop into a nice size midfielder
Hisham Kerbatieh 177cm 77kg Forward - a small forward who has plenty of tricks. Watching him play WA in Perth in the champs he showed that he can grab the ball on lead and also be a handful when the ball is on the ground. If we missed Ah Chee at 12 he'd be a handy back up option in that small forward role.
Pick 74: Unlikely to be used but just in case
Darcy Cameron 204cm 101cm Ruckman - we need ruck help and Cameron is the most ready to go ruckman in the draft this year. Would be handy if needed this year but give him a couple of years and he could be a number 1 ruck
Jack Firns 195cm 92kg KPD - Chaplin getting older uncertainty about Elton & Astbury moving forward a younger KPD option to develop won't hurt
Mitch King 200cm 92kg Ruckman - unlike Cameron King would be a project ruckman to develop alongside Soldo for 3-4 years has a high hitout to advantage rating
Patrick Levicki 194cm 89kg KPD - mature aged KPD that would provide coverage in case of injury and Elton/Astbury don't step up
Josh Porter 195cm 98kg KPF - don't really need a KPF but if he is on the board and we're not confident he makes it to the rookie draft I'd take him in the draft and lock him away
Welcome to Essendon Adam Tomlinson 2016?Cal Twomey has the following go before our pick: Weitering, Shache, Mills, Oliver, Francis, Parish, Ah Chee, Weideman, Hopper, Mckay, Kennedy, Hipwood, Milera and Curnow.
Of the guys left I can only see Balic, Burton or Collins breaking into the above group and I doubt it. By now Twomey will know which players have been invited to the combine (top 10). This means we most likely miss on Ah Chee who best suits our needs.
Most likely we are choosing from Rioli, Gresham, Balic and Burton. Dam.
So of this 4 who do we want?
I have a suspicion we are tanking for Burton, so they Crows think that he is available pick 13Rioli to Richmond. May as well trade in my membership. Will be filthy if we take him.

I don't get that talk. Surely Gold Coast take Weideman or Francis, which ever falls if Oliver doesn't get picked early and if he doesn't they get Oliver. Then Adelaide take Milera. Even though they don't really need him.
Read the article on him and is very close to his family. Would be a big risk to recruit him.Heard we were interested in a BL academy member from a reliable source. However, I heard from someone else that we liked Mabior Chol so I assumed he was the BL academy member- So possibly...
Kieran Collins at pick12??? ... add that to Rance, Houli, Vlastuin, Yarran, Mcintosh and Grimes.
That is a very attacking and creative back half in my opinion.
Already picked up Townsend and Moore for clearance and inside grunt.
Then maybe Kerbatieh or K. Lovell to fill our small forward void with our 2nd. (3rd round pick).
Rioli would be the most exciting high potential player we could draft and the biggest risk.
Has basically shown glimpses of brilliance, and is an elite runner with a unique blend of speed and endurance,
Knock is, at the moment, he doesn't get much of the ball.
However, he does put on elite forward pressure that is Cyril like, and FFS he wouldn't have to do much to be an upgrade on Morris as he at least kicks goals.
Seeing a Rioli in a a richmond jumper on the MCG in number 17 would be a thing of beauty for us romantic Richmond fans.
What will be, will be.

Any real/solid evidence of this?
Twomey usually has excellent mail.
I don't mind Collins but there is likely to be a key defender with potential available with our second pick, which this being the case I would rather go after a different type with pick 12.
Key position players for me in a shallow draft are held in higher regard than mids/fwds as their is greater depth in those latter positions.I don't mind Collins but there is likely to be a key defender with potential available with our second pick, which this being the case I would rather go after a different type with pick 12.
I wouldn't disagree Bishop knows his stuff. But heaps of AFL recruiters get made to look fools, reality is none of us know what'll happen to the kids in the AFL system and we'll back our recruiters to make the right call.Bishop knows more than anyone else in here so i'd value his opinion a bit higher than that.
Selecting a bloke who did very very little until the very end of this year at pick 12 seems like a massive risk I don't think we need to be taking, wouldn't you agree?
Ah Chee would be a good pick for Gold Coast as that talented flanker replacement for Bennell.
I was questioning his goal kicking ability.
Don't disagree, Ah Chee would be a good pick up for quite a few clubs. But if one of Weideman, Francis and Oliver were still there which seems likely, i'd take them before Ah Chee.
