Considering he's still contracted, there's literally no way the club would even consider that. You'd require a Lions/Pies/Beams deal. First round pick, second pick, plus a player.

I wouldn't be completely opposed to trading him, but the club will play hardball on this one.

Same flog who said Bennell was being shopped around, only for the Suns to respond to his BS as total crap and that Harley is contracted and 100% isn't going anywhere. All of a sudden old Scoop of Dog Shit went very quiet on that one.
He's not Beams.

Doubt a club is going to come out and say they are shopping a contracted player around.

Righto, just ignore the fact that he's still contracted, is one of the 'big four' Suns mids, and that the club isn't going to release him from said contract for a single first round pick.

I didn't say he was Beams, I said whoever wants him will have to pay overs to get him.

By using the Beams deal as the platform for any deal you are, in fact, comparing him to Beams.

He'd be great in Perth on the wider ground. I'm a big Yarran fan, I think he's a fantastic player, but I accept I don't watch him as closely or as much as a Carlton supporter, who may have a different view.

Has serious upside , a real game breaker .
Sadly , for whatever reason , it looks like he has checked out at Carlton .
A smart trader knows when to buy ...

Yarran is worth 18-25, depending on demand, all day long.

Yarran is supremely talent and his best is electrifying but for a 25 year old he is still unbelievably inconsistent. Maybe its because he has checked out at this year but he has barely averaged 16 touches a game in a good year. Is that worth 18-25?

Its hard to fathom his worth and I understand Carlton fans will want a first rounder but I just cannot see that for a guy who's career is half over and never been anything more then a tease. Tambling might be the best comparison, we nabbed a end of first rounder but he was younger then Yarran and his best year was better then anything Yarran has produced.

Geelong got Rivers as a free agent in the first year and Blease as a delisted free agent in the third year. Hardly a parade.

Everything else we have got recently we have traded for and usually paid overs.

I guess so.
The way free agency is structured the players will mostly pick the contenders I spose, although it will be interesting to see if any of them choose Melbourne or St Kilda in the next year or two as they develop?

No doubt they will and also the bulldogs. I think after watching JOR play most of the season for Box Hill that a lot of of free agents (bar the absolute superstar) will choose the up and coming team over the established power house.

Glad that's settled then, because a club has never said that a player isn't going anywhere in July and then moved him on in October.

Shut up you pompous flog.

He said "seeing as he's contracted until the end of next year he would elicit a similar trade to Beams (who was out of contract when he was traded).

Fair call. If a club wants to acquire an in-demand contracted player then they will have to pay overs.
No he wasn't. What the hell are you talking about?

I differ - Missing out on draft picks for two years means that we need to use early draft picks - It was bad enough that we traded 37 for cooney.
That trade never made sense. We ended up with Biggs and 39 for Cooney. I would have taken Biggs straight up for Cooney. He's washed unfortunately.

Yeah definitely. Suns would be super pissed at Dixon, and he's still be a local too.
As shit as it would be for the Suns, it'd create a genuine rivalry between the Suns and Lions. One of actual distaste and anger, rather than the lovey-dovey brotherly relationship at the moment.
