So what's Freeman worth then ??
And please remind me what you got for Beams ?
1st, second, and Crisp, who at the time had roughly the trade currency of a third-fourth rounder.

Don't act like this is anything other than the equivalent of the Beams trade minus the steak knives, because that's exactly what it is.

Treloar is worth more than a first and second. Two firsts and maybe a high third coming back would be fair.

Well we'll agree to disagree on that then....I honestly reckon he's worth a first and early 2nd and most of the experts are saying that 2x first rounders is overs....I can nearly guarantee you that it won't be for 2x first rounders.....but for what it's worth if I had to give that up in the end because they were standing there ground then I would but it'll get decided pretty early on for a lot less!!

Obviously you dont get that, if Beams wasnt contracted last we would have got significantly less than what we eventually got for him.
Rubbish , unless the team that the un contracted players wants to get to finish's last or there about his current team still holds the power ..
Eg , Treloar ops to walk name me one club in front of your selection that WOULD'NT take him ?
I'll grant you that it's a minor advantage to you that he's un contracted that's all .

I like the way Timmy spells words :drunk:

In its full context you would understand .... it was a reply to another post and they were all deliberately spelt stupidly.

And that slight advantage we have is we wont have to give up steak knives in the deal for Treloar, which then makes it identical to the Beams except it's not for this year's 2nd rounder it's next year's.

A deal will be done Treloar will not be going into the draft. As Collingwood supporters found out last year the team doesn't have any power if the player wants to go to another club and has nominated another club then some sort of deal will be struck.

I'll raise you Greenwood as well. Finished 2nd in Norths Best and Fairest after a career best season and didn't want to sign for unders and maybe less opportunity. I'm sure North would have loved to shop him around for the best deal possible but he nominated us and he goes for a mid 2nd rounder. If he was contracted North would have held all the cards but he wasnt so they took the deal.

So you are saying that we would have got the same deal for Beams last year if he was uncontracted?

That's not actually true look at us in 2013 we never had the upper hand in any of our trades for the GH5 we we're screwed massively in all the trades

Exactly, and EVERY opposition supporter thought the Beams trade was fair

Beams plus 3rd round pick for picks 5, 25 and Crisp so picks 5 and 25 for Beams and Crisp for the 3rd round pick.

The fourth (not third) round pick was thrown in because you guys weren't going to use it after getting most of the Lions' draft. It was literally worthless to the Pies.

I dunno, Karnezis/Paine was a pretty lose/lose deal :thumbsu:

Pick 67 I stand corrected. In the previous draft pick 65 netted Tom Langdon and pick 77 Jonathon Marsh. Both picks were considered useless before the draft. You can't say pick 67 is worthless until after the draft is done.

Hmmm...maybe. Paine is still on Brisbane's list and has played six senior games for the Lions. Didn't play this season after Anzac Day due to an ankle injury, but was pressing for senior selection at the time he was injured.

Karnezis has retired and played four senior games for Collingwood.

If you want to regard it as a win for you guys then go for it!

Jon Ralph reporting the Treloar deal has been agreed to. Treloar had a medical and tour of The Holden Centre yesterday.
