The official word on what went wrong last week:-

"Our work rate was a bit down without the ball, but it was our ball movement to be honest. We've been spreading the ball really well, but we were just stagnant and slow and straight-line. To be truthful the review has been about ball movement, not defence."

So the work rate is down, the ball movement is stagnant, slow and straight line. Is that due to fatigue or application? Either way, perhaps there may well be some changes. Interesting to see who is named this arvo.

While personel changes are the first port of call for bigfooty enthusiasts. I suspect they are a last resort for our coaching staff and match comittee.

I know what you mean but it just felt like it was going to be different this week after a loss and with those comments about stagnant, slow movement etc.
The response is that Clarke and Duffield are omitted after a loss and I do not doubt that others are on notice to work hard to stay on the bus.

Not too sure where to put this, but the TV commentary on Saturday was the most un-professional in years.

A number of times Gold Coast were referred to as Brisbane.

Hannath marks and they have a close up of his number on jumper, calls him Tavener !!!.

Pav does a brilliant run along the boundary in the pocket, rolling the ball to keep it in play, under fierce opposition. I thought great play by Pav to keep the ball under control, as well as good defence. All they talked about was the great defence, no mention of Pav's skills to keep the ball in play and attempt to make something out of nothing !!!.

Study your beeping teams before you do the call.

Reckon Huddo called the game as if he didn't want to be there.

Rant over, time for a cup of Cappo.

amazingly unprofessional, was it Lynch commentating too?

Yep it was Lynch commentating.

He gave Fyfe 3 votes ( max ) for the game, as he said, he looked very hard to find other players to give the max votes to. He just re-iterated that Fyfe is that good.

I should say that I am usually very meh about commentating, get your good & bad, just go with the flow. Saturday's commentary was not even average, Willie from Widgemooltha would have been more professional.

In the past I have sometimes muted the telly and put the radio on.

If I'm watching by myself I've started muting the commentary full stop. I've seen people recommend it over the years but I thought I would miss out on the atmosphere of the crowd so only tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

It's a real game-changer. It's amazing how much of the frustration you feel watching a game comes from the inane and agenda-driven commentary. It's a much more serene experience when you can just enjoy each play for what it is without a bunch of chattering monkeys carrying on endlessly in your ear.

It's definitely the way to go. I'm not great at tuning out the commentary so the ineptitude/bias always got to me badly, haven't missed it one bit. If I need atmosphere I get plenty at our home games.

.

Lynch has delusions that he is some kind of super agent.

then can't even remember which team is playing.

Makes you wonder if there is an IQ cut off to be a player agent. Above 100 and you don't qualify.

Just watching Roos getting grilled on AFL360 about their loss and the last 40 seconds. Rather excruciating having that pair replay the vision of that last goal over and over with haloes over the offending players etc. While Roos looks like his head is going to explode, he has been so diplomatic. If it was the Boss, he'd be asking by now if that's the cistern flushing in the background.

Summary of RTB 'On The Couch' 15 June 2015

Slipping Over

- Discussion during the week about boys slipping over.
- One of our players wore grass caps in the finals last year and slipped - that was a fierce discussion.

Hawks are the best in the comp still
- We're all chasing them, particularly their offensive side of the game.
- We've tried to model a few things on them - it's certainly improved us - offensively we've improved until the last few weeks where it has dried up.

Fyfe Love
- discussion at half time during Gold Coast game to move Fyfe forward which had an impact.
- His specialty is his aerial strength. We'll play him more forward, he delivered and as we struggled, we moved him back in the midfield.
- One on One contests - Fyfe 61%, Kennedy 44%, AFL average 27%.
- Fyfe vs Koutafides - Fyfe is doing it at younger age with a more massive tank. Massive influence that drives the group during the week.

Crowley
- We've committed that he should go away and absorb it.
- We'll all come back together and look at the immediate future with a view to make a decision for Ryan to do the training 2 months' out.
- I'll support him. Great warrior but we still need to get together and make a firm decision.
- In response to a question on any set of circumstances on him playing this year - if he commits to keep fit and train then he would not rule out playing him in finals and while you can do it, we're delivering without Ryan. Referred to playing Stephen Baker off 14 weeks straight into a Grand Final.

Game Plan Change
- Back your team defence per Alistair Clarkson and be more offensive.
- I tend to stick to myself a little bit but I learnt a lot from coaching with Clarko during the International Rules.
- Preseason - Improved our game sense. More mini football training.
- Up to the last 3 weeks our scoring has been quite strong, sitting in the top 4. We've still got progress to make.

Hitouts to advantage
- Scoring from centre bounce downs is up. Scoring from stoppage work inside 50 is still down.
- We're moving the ball better and capitalising on hit outs better.
- 3rd man up - it's OK as long as our ruckmen is not blocked.

Coaching Assessor
- There is a guy that sits in the box that provides feedback on his communication, messaging sense and the psychology of what is going on with the group.
Defensive Issues
- Early on we were running and bouncing out with Johnson and Ibbotson and losing Johnno has had a bump on effect.
- It doesn't matter who is there. If the pressure is not on up the field we get scored against.
- We have some challenges down back but it's won or lost in the midfield. We have no issue in the midfield so we have no excuses.
- Has big wraps on Alex Pearce.
