North just trade 15 for Anderson basically, anyone hear want to jump off a cliff over that aswell?

Good player ... but geez that's a hefty price, even with a few nothing picks thrown in at the end.

I doubt a #20's pick that we'd have offered would be attractive enough for Hawthorn to jump at (with a week still to go) ... Adds some much needed speed for North, and they're in the flag contending position to be able to trade away their 1st rounder (due to it being low, and also with where their list is at) for a player who fills that immediate need.

I would have loved to have gotten him, 10 picks higher than pick 25. SMH

Wha? Anderson is a young gun, worth pick 15 IMO.

Could of been ours of course in the Hogan trade, but we chose Dom Barry instead.

We got the main part right so i guess i can't be too mad though.

That's probably a fair statement to be honest ... looking at the latest Phantom Form Guide thing ... the first 12 or so are all players who've already been spoken about at length and the Draft talk doesn't ramp up until after Trade Period. From there, the Lions Academy kids are the only ones you've heard anything about, and that's either because I'm in Brisbane, or the intrigue around the new bidding system.

So with last years draft when things started going all over the shop from about Pick 20, this year it could very well do the same from 10-15.

Recruiting youngish highly drafted duds hasnt worked for us either, just incase you hadnt noticed... Dawes, Gillies, Messen et al

Give me a draft pick, picked by a decent recruiter and a semi decent development program over of steaming hot cow patty on very decent coin any day of the week.

Shit KPPs that weren't best 22 at their old clubs (and Dawes who was recruited to play as a third forward) aren't quite comparable to Melksham who can actually kick and run and has demonstrated both of those things at AFL level + played multiple games where he's been in the bests. Melksham is terrible but it's only because he runs around like a headless chicken when he fades out of the contest, not because he lacks the skill. When he's on he's really on. Give me that over another Toumpas any day or even speculative ANB/Stretch any day.

Getting Melksham really doesn't bother me, happy to give him a run it's just the whole having everything in your favour to get your guy then offering a stupid trade and having Essendon bite your hand off accepting it. Just stinks of incompetence. Maybe it won't be a big deal that we gave away a second when a third would have been fine but I just don't feel like we are in a position to squander assets of any kind in our current position. I know weak draft blah blah.

So many sooks on here overrating pick 25 in this draft. Loved Melksham as a junior. Has had a couple of average years but hoping Goodwin and McCartney can get the best out of him and if they do he will undoubtedly add something to the team.
